Not Metal. - Divinity
Spoiler: show
So I picked up this cd of Divinity and can find absolutely nothing on it apart from an immensely incorrect Dutch music page (https://www.muziekweb.nl/Link/JK156445/Into-the-deep). I shall upload the cd to Youtube (
), since I have no idea what to classify this music as, maybe alternative death?
The booklet contains the following:
Lyrics
Photos of band members (with no names)
Recording information (recorded on 1999
Contact information (likely to be horribly outdated)
Tracklist:
(unnamed intro)
A perfect breakdown
Cry
Slaughtered
Proud
Assfollowers
Down

If anyone could tell me what genre it probably is so I can make a encylopaedia page on it, or if someone knows more about this band, that'd be awesome.

Added. - Freak Show (United States)
Spoiler: show
- Freak Show (1991, demo)
1. The Wild One
2. Ride Time See Life
3. Thinkin' of Crime
4. Recommended Dosage

Only link I got, googling the band name and some of the titles literally only returns this one as a result: https://www.musik-sammler.de/media/1250217/

I have no idea if this is the same band as the crossover Freak Show on MA, but the logos are very different. There are also some US Freakshow's listed, but the demo doesn't show up for any of them.

Just updated Freak Show's page. Added this and created a different label's page. If you check the j-cards/tapes you'll see why. The bottom of the CD also says Red Eye Records.
Many of the songs on that full-length appeared on the 1992 demo. There's, however, no matching titles with those on the one you've found.

Given this response, he is absolutely not interested in sending anything, unless he radically changes his mind again.

Thank you. That's a step in the right direction, but I was wondering if Az listened to the tracks back then when they were streaming, and, if so, what his verdict was. In other words, is the validity of the release the only thing at stake here? Or do we need to find the songs again seeing that myspace is down?

The guy behind HMR posted the entire demo on YT (the artwork isn't from the release). Apparently he owns the tape?

EDIT: oh right, previously posted. I think a bit more information about the demo release is needed.

Thanks a lot, Azmodes. On a related note, the band Dizzy (Swe), which was posted in this thread by you and also another user, iis also listed at FWOSHM with their demo. Janne Stark apparently owns the tape and there are scans of the cassete itself. His version has apparently nocover and he asks , if somebody knows, if the demo was released with a cover or not. My Question: Would this info be enough to get the band accepted or is the missing cover a major problem?

Azmodes wrote:
I'd really like to have a bit more information about the tape first. Where he got it from, for starters.

- more info, April 2023 (thanks, Strappado!):
"I have about 3 Lucy (Swe) tapes with the Dizzy demo on B-SIDE.
From what I understand Lucy guitarist Johan Jansson produced or was involved with helping the band in some way.
He seem to have used old Dizzy tapes and recorded Lucy stuff onto the A-side.

That's all I know i'm afraid. Johan was also the one giving me some members names."

Spoiler: show
- The World's Yours (1995, demo-CD/maxi-CD/promo-CD*)
1. Equalize the Difference
2. Science of Live
3. My Different Way
4. Lifestyle for Fashion

The one track I could find ("Equlize the Difference") is undoubtedly metal, quite USPM-y. They are mentioned here along with the CD, but it says "For promotion only", so I'm hesitant to add. Still, it might be that the CD was also circulated publicly.

Some more news in the Saga of Neseblod. I've managed to get a dialogue going with him on Facebook messenger. He claims he's looking through boxes and crates to see if he can locate the tapes I've requested, but he did not know if he would clear the last two boxes before the New Year.

Even if he does come through and find these, I really don't see myself jumping at the chance to order again. I've been ripped off by Southeast Asian bootleg labels with more customer service and communication skills than this guy.

So guess who finally got around to telling me that he cannot find any of the tapes I requested in his shop? Sad to say, I don't know that Neseblod will ever be a viable outlet for getting tapes.

Regarding Steel River: As halloween has already determined, the Steel River album is the same as the Robert Morton-Jones album Burning Fire-Ka Ma Te. I have listened to samples from that album on Itunes and it seems to me like a mixture of hard rock and southern rock in the style of bands like Molly Hatchet, Dixie Dregs or Blackfoot. The full album is available on Spotify and GooglePlay, so the mods, who have an account there, can validate it: https://open.spotify.com/album/3xjSinE1EiXTlvU88iGH86

TThis post got somehow overlooked so I am bumping it again. Robert Morton-Jones was the former member of the band Steel River and his solo compilation CD includes all tracks from the Steel River demo. It is obvious from the samples posted by me above, that their music is not heavy metal, but southern rock/hard rock, son Steel River can be removed from the list imo. Here is the explanation of the link between Steel River and Rob Morton-Jones' solo album: https://www.ie.wowhd.com/robert-jones-b ... 4501399630

Both described as rare "metal".

Added. - Mad Jack (Heavy Metal from the States)
Spoiler: show
The band might be addable as is, because the track is undeniably metal; however, I think it wouldn't hurt to find some more info, since the description says "promotional release". It doesn't look like it, though.
This is all I've got: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pp5X4iTFyA

If it's still there when I get paid Thursday, I'll pick it up. The album art alone looks pretty rad.

Not Metal. - Sapien

It's iffy to me, but it's cheap, if someone wants to check this one out:

Yeah, that album art is nuts, ahah. Also, I grabbed the Sapien tape. Logo looks metal at least. If not, another weird thing to add to my pile of failed gambles. :D

Yeah, you were right. There's 1 metal song and a few moments here and there, but mostly not. :\ Sapien is out.
