No VR. - Flesh Mantle (death metal, New Jersey, USA)
Spoiler: show
- ? (Tape)
Years active: 1999-1999, 1999-?
Line-up:
Brian - Guitars (1999-), Vocals (1999-1999), Vocals (backing)
Shawn - Drums (1999-), Vocals (backing)
Lou - Vocals (lead) (1999-)
B.J. - Guitars (rhythm)
Former Line-up:
Donny/Donnie - Bass (1999-1999, 1999-)
Kris - Bass (1999), Vocals (1999-)
Brian - Guitars (1999) (Might be the same person as B.J.)

According to the band's bio, they had recorded a demo twice and not released it but had plans to release a demo tape for a show, which was cancelled. The website was later used as a page for Abysmal Gates, so this might be a precursor to that band. The transition doesn't seem to be archived, so they might have released something during that time. There are also merchandise pages that are empty except one that seems to be from the Abysmal Gates era. Someone with a facebook could probably contact Abysmal Gates and find out.

Also, they had two logos:
http://web.archive.org/web/200112060741 ... lelogo.jpg
http://web.archive.org/web/200008310408 ... fmlogo.jpg

All pages on Internet Archive:

Halloween, these captures are from when I contacted the band where he is playing actually (which is that obviously) and one of his partners, confirmed me that he same said that this release was never released. I hope that this works for you!

Needs research. - Black Witch (Germany, melodic death metal?)
- ...And When the Darkness Eats Away (1995, demo, cassette)

All information taken from m-s.de, no samples or other info to be found. I talked to the tape owner there and he said that it's actually by the Blackwitch from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Telling from the logos, one is clearly written with a space and one isn't, but of course there's no reason why they couldn't have slightly changed the name at some point. Allegedly the members are the same. The m-s.de guy wouldn't elaborate how he knew that, but I presume there's a lineup printed on the tape inlay. I'm hesitant to add the demo to the existing page, would like to confirm that it's indeed the same band first, but the guy didn't respond further. Leaving this here for now.

Added. Proposition None (United States, death metal)
Spoiler: show
- Demo 1989 (1989, demo)
01. Oddysey [sic?] of Chaos
02. Militant Exile
03. Defending from Death
04. For Your Demise to Hasten
05. Fire That Rage

An earlier incarnation of the US Habeas Corpus. The mentioned demo used to be listed in their discography, until Dembo tried submitting a separate page based around it, but I rejected it because proof for distribution and even existence was meh. I asked artery, who had added the demo entry to HC' page, but he didn't provide any sources for his addition. Unsurprisingly no samples, but pretty sure it's death metal.

Possible demo cover or at least band logo: http://i.imgur.com/30SyHcl.jpg

By the way, Halloween, I finally heard back from the Haunted Child guy and if all goes well, he'll send me his last tape copy soon. :)

I went through their facebook looking for more information. Didn't really find anything useful, but they could probably be contacted.

They list the demo under their discography here. Track 5 might be "Fires" and not "Fire".

Also this says they still have a copy of the demo.

Show flyers:

The other logo on the flyers is extremely familiar. I wonder if I saw it in an old zine somewhere.

Nope, not the glam band. Submitted a year ago, but rejected because the samples were ambiguous. I can't find the full record anywhere.

No releases. Clanissa's Surplus (Austria, heavy metal/hard rock)
Spoiler: show
Late 70's/early 80's band from Graz, pretty metal for its time and place (and what's with that name?). I'm not sure if they ever had a valid (demo) release, the tracks on that site are labelled as "unreleased". This guy over at Strappado mentions a "K7" (=cassette) rip that's disappeared since. I contacted two ex-members, yet to receive responses, we'll see.

Delta of Venus:
Not metal, this is a later release but "Port of Saints" is also on the demo:
https://soundcloud.com/delta_of_venus/

Of course the cheaper one was easy to cross off . Added the rest to the OP. Misled's samples sound fine, though. Might be worth submitting?

There's so little to go on, though. What about the label field? Independent?
I know his ad says indie, but it's a standard thing he writes...

Concerning E.O.T.S.
viewtopic.php?p=2594454#p2594454
According to Rik Baez, they played grunge, a genre they knew little about. They gave it a go, soon realized it wasn't their thing, and called it quits.

Nice work :) and hey all the reasonably priced ones are crossed off,

Regarding Misled:
There was a Misled in the 90s mentioned here in the album notes:
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/chrisrico
Quote:
Chris' first band "Misled" started in the early 90's and hit the heavy metal scene with a vengence with songs such as: Save MeFrom Myself, Sweet Misery, and Find My Way, Chris and "Misled" rocked the local New Orleans clubs. Playing at venues like Jimmy's and the Howlin' Wolf, the crowds came and so did an offer from SireRecords (Warner BrothersIndependent Label).

All of this Misled's later albums are here. No idea if it's the same one, though. Probably not, but it's the only thing I can find.

Never hurts to ask. Just shot him a message via myspace.
No photos of that album, though. Besides, they have two logos, but neither matches the one we're looking for.

EDIT: No reply.

Needs research. - Violent Bloodshed (side-project of this bloke).

I did a design for them back in early 2013 for an upcoming demo CD. Not sure if it ever got released or not; maybe somebody can ask if it got pressed.

I can't, since I permanently deleted my FB a year ago. :p

White Lion is (about to be) added, I got my hands on a full vinyl rip. This oughta fly as heavy metal/hard rock.

Needs research. - Drosera (United States, doom metal?)
All of this information comes from the promotional blurb about Drosera's fourth album from Silvis Records:

Quote:
Drosera is a reclusive dark/ambient band based on Revillagigedo Island, Alaska, and active since 2008. "Cassiar," Drosera's 4th full-length album, makes a departure from the band's previous doom-laden meditations to a dance-beat backed coldwave/gothic sound.

This new album sounds like a Cure cover band played through a blown out speaker, but I cannot seem to find any information about this band, or their three previous albums, anywhere on the internet. The do not appear to have any social media feeds, and the only thing on YouTube are shitty rehearsal songs from a Chilean death metal band with the same name.

I've reached out to Silvis to see if they have any information or contact info on Drosera, but have not heard back.

Related comments:
Spoiler: show
Witcher wrote:
Regarding Drosera: I was able to locate their album"Cassiar" on CD Baby and it certainly is not metal at all, they ccompare it to Clan of Xymox or The Cure. There are preview songs for the whole album there: https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/drosera
There are no other albums of theirs for sale on CD Baby, just the promotional text from their lablel, which mention "doom-ladden" rituals again. I would be very cautious with such an description, since the label describes Drosera as a dark ambient band first and foremost. "Doom-ladden" could mean a lot of things and I have also seen dark ambient albums, which were ssomehow slow and sorrowful in delivery being described as doom-inspired by the promo advertising by their labels before.

Why not Split-up? It's been 32 years since that release.

Allegedly a CD release, distribution unproven/uncertain. Iffy pic: http://i016.radikal.ru/1602/f8/2d9afd862717.jpg - according to the submitter, the card says "Exclusively for DeGa from metal archives. From the private collection of the Sklep (Crypt)." If we can't verify the CD, maybe a digital release.

It was released officially as a digital download here. I don't know if mediafire counts or not:

It might have also been released physically:

+jart _ @jarrett093 thanks man! we're going to be playing shows again real soon, we just got a session bassist! we will have hard copies of the album for sale at each show. we only have 50 in print.

The guy's soundcloud with a fb link if you want to contact for more info:
https://soundcloud.com/SeanHart213

Which you might, they were first formed under the name Skåda and released a demo, "Demo 2009". It was available for download (according to the bio here), but also might have been released physically. This photo is captioned "get yours now". Their myspace listed it under releases on the sidebar, as well. However, I can't find any other references.

CD-R release, added. Interestingly, he said they never did any CDs with Vociferance, download-only, so the image DeGa provided appears to be BS or a bootleg.

The sound quality is insanely bad and it appears to be a mix of rehearsals and live recordings with some things cut off too, but what I can discern is vaguely melodic rockish. Plus the volume is extremely low. Really bad. One part sounds heavier, but it's barely recognisable because of the sound.

I know it's not the place to ask, but I think one post couldn't hurt. :) Could you actually listen to those songs on Myspace? I haven't been able to listen to anything on Myspace for about six months now, and, for some reason, I thought I wasn't the only one. My laptop's up to date, so not sure what's going on.

Yeah, I can listen to them, but that happens to me sometimes. If I leave the tab open and then open other myspace pages they eventually play. I don't know if that's the same problem you're facing, though.

Also, if you have an adblocker, try to disable it for myspace. I noticed it can get stuck on ads if they don't play. Seemed to help me a little bit.

Thanks. Still can't get it to work, though. I'll see what else I can do, now that I know the source isn't the problem.

Got samples for Power Touch. It's metal-ish hard rock.

Just got a reply from Misled. It's not the same band. "We have the name trademarked," they said, "but that doesn't keep others from using it." Anyway, I'm thinking of submitting the band as an independent act, hoping someone would file a report to fill us in. All in favor?

No release. - Gravedefiler (Austria, black/death metal?)
Spoiler: show
- Herr der Herren (1998, demo)

An earlier name of Bloodfeast. Apart from the mention in the notes, proof is slim. There is this German Wikipedia entry listing the demo (added on July 3rd, 2009) and in their FB bio they write that "[t]hey recorded the demo MC "Herr der Herren" as early as [1998]". Listed on their IA'd website without much useful information.

-> Herr der Herren was only released after the name change to Bloodfeast (see band page)

No sign of any valid releases. - Grimforst (Austria, black metal?)
Spoiler: show
- Wölfenwald (1999)
01. Intro
02. Untitelt [sic?]
03. Der schwarze Prinz
04. Winterland Pt. I
05. Winterland Pt. II
06. Endless Winternight
07. Wölfenwald

- Totentanz (2007, EP)
01. Pt. I
02. Pt. II
03. Pt. III
04. Pt. IV
05. Pt. V

Apparently this is not the same band as the listed one from Carinthia (this is not 100% confirmed, though). Tracklists were given to me by RunningWild_AT, he also has covers. Need to ask him more about this band.

Their Myspace (I can't get the songs to play, hence the ? in the genre): https://myspace.com/grimforst
