The Wordpress blog Sad but True seeks to call out album art creators who plagiaries other artists in the creation of heavy metal album artwork. Much of the stolen work is quite blatant when held up next to the original. I was wondering what the general consensus was on crediting the original artists who have had their work stolen, or at least make a note about it in the additional notes section.

Properly credit the plagiarist and mention the original artist/plagiarism in the additional notes. I suggest to do the latter only if it's really, without-a-doubt 1:1 obvious/blatant, though, and also not something that would qualify more as taking inspiration. We don't want to give credence to speculation.

Please do not add the original artist to the lineup, since their work was (presumably) used without their consent/intent.
