Hello all,

It's time to improve site integrity through removal of line-ups added by untrustworthy users guilty of guesswork.
For anyone ranked veteran or above and wishing to contribute, there is quite an area for clean-up: guesswork album line-ups. Since V2 came out, it is too easy for users of any rank to acquire quick and easy points through dumping current bandmembers into album line-ups or guessing based on the active years. It was suggested by MutantClannfear in this thread a few years ago to have a ''source'' field for updates made to the site, so we can instantly check where a user got their information from. Sadly, it appears by Morrigan's post that it's a huge pain to implement, but I would be quite happy if it was just limited to album line-ups, which seems to be the most hurt victim.

Album line-ups are probably the most abused and guessed feature on the site. I have only been a mod for 1 month, and in that time I have caught 6 users adding guesswork line-ups all in various quantities, which is far too many. For anyone who has been/is guilty of this infraction, please read this great post by Azmodes as to why you must not guess line-ups. We would also be very grateful if you file a report on any album page for which you added a line-up without any official verification. If you're scared to admit to us that you have broken this rule in the past, please don't be - I never send warnings to users who apologize for their errors and call for them to be repaired. Quite the opposite - the honesty is always greatly appreciated.

What needs to be done?
Generally, when we catch a user systemically dumping band line-ups into albums and/or guessing based on who was active in the band at the time, the prudent course of action is to manually go through the user's modification history and erase their line-up additions. This is exactly the purpose of this thread, and it would be great to have some help from other users. It's a task that can be very tedious, and with the amount of work to be done, not something I want to have to do all by myself. Additionally, there are no points to be earned from erasing line-ups, despite how tedious it is... but if you do great work, maybe I'll send you a personal thanks via the site instead. Surely an official message of gratitude is worth more than points?

Before we get to work, please keep in mind these few guidelines:
-This thread may seem similar to the already existing point-whores thread, but the two threads are very much separate in terms of their purposes. The purpose of that thread is for you to report users making malicious/incorrect updates, so that we can message/warn the user and hopefully stop them. This thread is with the purpose of site clean-up.

-Just because a user is linked here for a cleanup of their modification history doesn't mean you should go willy-nilly deleting line-ups on every single album the user has touched. For an old, unknown demo that was last modified by the same user who almost certainly guessed the line-up, it's fine to delete the line-up. However, if it has since been modified by a more trusted user who appears by his updates to be familiar with the album in question, it's a safe assumption that the line-up errors would have been noticed. In this case, keep the line-up. Check update histories, use common sense and if unsure, ask.

-If you come across an album with a line-up that looks suspicious, feel free to contact the user to find out where they got it from, or alternatively you could file a report on the page, and we can request the user's attention via the feature available to knights and mods. If, on the other hand, you catch a user blatantly abusing the system and can prove they fucked up somewhere, don't hesitate to let us know via the appropriate thread. That said, please don't erase all a user's line-up additions unless you are certain they are abusing the system. If unsure, it's better to ask us first and wait for the green light.

With that all out the way, let's get to work! Here are some users guilty of adding incorrect guesswork line-ups, and whose modification histories need a good clean-up. It would also be great if one of the Gods of the site could drop their scores. I'll keep the OP updated.

Hey bro, I finished that clean, the gueswork lineups of NarcoIT and A6Shadow, after I finish with the guesswork lineups of the another users.

Postdata: Just this lineup is right, the only one:

Excellent work. A6Shadow seemed slightly more innocent than the others... he admitted he was making educated guesses based on members' years active, so I sent him a friendly message, while the other members listed all received warnings. It is indeed highly possible that a number of their guesswork additions turned out to be, by pure luck, correct. However, we can't know that, and it's better to have an empty line-up than one with just a 50% chance of being correct. Having a quick look at the Bandcamp page before erasing the line-up is a great idea. This is an additional reason why I am very much in favour of having a mandatory source for line-up additions. Not only would it be fantastic for discouraging users from guessing line-ups and making it easier for us to spot the users adding them, it would also prevent any accidental deletions of line-ups which were suspected to be unverified guesswork, and later turned out to be correct and officially verified.

About A6Shadow, I suspected and guessed the same really. Yeah, I'm very agreed with you man, for that I deleted once a time the lyrics on the debut album from Aoratos (USA black metal band), because the lyrics don't appeared on any official websites of the band and after I thinked that were guesswork lyrics, until that guy showed me that from got the lyrics and it turned got from of the physical cd.

Here's another less recent user, who received two warnings from Diamhea for guessing line-ups, and it seemed to deter him from the site. His history needs a clean. I actually still need to finish those I started in the OP.

Oh for some quick 150 or so points for those bored and needing them: All the Black Tribe releases that have members other than myself have been added already, so to everything else you can just add me. Only exceptions are the The Continuum demos, the Depraved II demo and the Debaucherous Hymns... demo.
