Hello
Today I found an album which employs voice sets generated by Yamaha Vocaloid software as "vocalists". These voice sets are known by particular names and credited often, they're even listed on Discogs. Should they have an artist page and be credited like Discogs does?

https://www.discogs.com/artist/1341664-Miku-Hatsune

This real-life artist is the basis for one of these voice sets:

Thanks

You know, I'm actually curious about this as well, since metal artists using Vocaloid software as vocalists is a fairly recent phenomenon, and such artists being added to the site even more so. I wonder if the site mods have any consensus on this yet?

The general consensus is that Vocaloids shouldn't be credited as people since the people whose voices are used in those voice sets didn't really participate willingly in the project. Their voices were used from the voice sets the Vocaloid provides which is not the same as if the artist actually recorded the vocals for the specific project. Thus it falls more into the category of sampling.
