I don't know the band, but, reading his reports, he seems to rely more on assumptions than facts.

I haven't been around much in the past two weeks... a bit busy. I still do my daily share, no matter how meagre--quantity-wise that is. Every little helps. I feel you, though, Dia; the number of incoming reports per day has become staggering.

What's the proper procedure for reports where the user that took assignment has since vanished from the site? Tonger has taken assignment for several reports, but has not been back to the site in 6 months. Is it acceptable to set those back to unassigned?

Yeah, or just close if it appeared to be stagnating. A lot of time users take assignment through error/ignorance to proper procedure and then don't know how to get back to the assigned reports.

For some reason people have a real hard time navigating the system easily.

Cleaned out the resolved queue, and set a dozen or so back to unassigned to be properly handled. Brought main queue back under 100 again.

147 reports this morning. Where is everybody else?

Really considering getting rid of the ability for people to flag reports without making a site account. Most of those were dupes from the same guy with the smart idea to flag 5+ reports at a time for each error so we deal with it faster. Visitor too so I can't contact him to tell him to stop it. Plus I ended up closing 90% of those because they are simply invalid visitor reports.

I'd agree with that, Diamhea. I've tackled the queue a fair bit today and will push really hard over the next week as I have some spare time. What doesn't help is bands making 5-6 reports arguing that they are "not nazi band!!" then updating their facebook page with a Totenkopf and declaring how they embrace hate.

It's a waste of our time to go back over old reports and have to correct changes due to people whitewashing; an argument I'm very confident you've had many hundreds of times.

The powers that be disagree, so the visitor reports stay. Feel free to simply close/resolve them if it is just baseless NSBM bickering.

What is the proper response to a report in which the only source/evidence provided is something along the lines of "I am this person" or "I was there and I know how it happened"? In one case I simply added a note asking the user for an external source and flagged it for a moderator.

Add a note that we need verifiable evidence, close and move on.

Queue now backlogged over 200.

Doing my best; moving house currently so trains are running on a reduced service. Ive corrected a few report categories and chased down numerous users for updates and info requests too.

Prioritize stagnating reports, or ones without a forthcoming answer. Close, and if necessary leave a note for the user to try again if/when they can provide the necessary details/sources. Generally, visitor reports never answer requests for further input or acknowledge the requests made by the staff. So these are generally the first to simply close if nothing is coming of it.

Over 250 reports. Where's the new blood?

Just smashed nearly 75 reports out - and got it down to 150. Let's capitalise, we can clear this!

I've tackled another 20 or so this morning so far (It's not even daylight yet). Most of the oldest dozen are now dealt with, or progressed and annotated. This is kinda fun.

I've just handled 15 or so, including one of sangoat's messes.

So, for those of us that are not able to ping a user for more information, is it acceptable to mark useless reports as resolved? E.g reports where the reporter says they're a representative of the band and nothing else? I remember seeing a post on this thread about pinging the reporter for more information, closing the report, and moving on but I'm not sure if I should do that as well since I can't attract the reporter's attention back to the report.
