^Any luck handling things with your step-mom?

So I went round and round and round, trying to find a good gun for home defense, as I mentioned above. I almost went with the M1 Carbine but after doing some more research, getting a quality/reliable one is apparently near impossible. So yesterday I just went ahead and bought a Ruger Mini 14. It seems a bit silly to get something that my AR-15 does better in every way… but it’s CA-kosher (with detachable magazines), has an action my wife likes better, and I think will be a fun plinker that my wife can enjoy using for fun too. I got the wood stock and stainless barrel/components. Unfortunately, I have to wait until it arrives to the gun store and then start my paperwork. California has a 10-day waiting period which starts once the paperwork is completed. Sigh… I’ll have to be patient for a little while more before I can finally take it to the range.

Guns terrify me. I cannot be anywhere near one and would never try to even hold one.

Interesting. Is this due to a traumatic experience from your past or just the nature of their usage, capabilities, and such?

Anyone have experience with suppressors? I'm looking to get one for my 9mm pistol but there are a lot of options out there...

Yeah, but i live in Australia so getting any antique/historical weapons (what im into) is pretty difficult legally. (Of course, we do have our fair share of gun violence, but typically they aren't legal firearms.)

I like paintball guns, if that counts. Playing paintball can also give you an amazing adrenaline rush, especially if you're doing it out in the open or in some muddy shithole with garbage everywhere (not into playing with the inflatable walls and crap). Worst pain in my life was when I shot myself point blank with a paintball gun into my finger. Youch. Fuckin hurt.

But as for real guns, no, not for me. Every time someone has one around me I'm constantly on edge. Could not imagine living in some open carry state like Texas where people literally carry guns with them. I also find there's a certain type of male that uses the "protect my family" excuse to justify carrying/owning guns. Usually fat motherfuckers who lack muscle so they gain security by having a gun. Gross.

It's always been a dream of mine to have my own gun, but Commiefornia is a bitch and college is expensive.
