Is there anything cornier than extreme metal bands performing in suits? The more poorly fitting the better.

nothing lends your prog death band legitimacy like dressing like a middle manager at a bank.

I mean my mental image of fans at a Meshuggah show is a bunch of guys in business suits pounding their chests in rhythm with the music. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A-y1N29vH2Y

Dress for the job you want to have, you know. Something easy, lucrative, and based on siphoning off the actual work of others.

“Florida Man” is at it again: https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/world/ ... 1.amp.html
I didn’t think people were even allowed to keep endangered species as pets, but this Florida Man had a cassowary - until it killed him.

I'm 41 years old and I've never worn a suit before in my life, not even when I was a kid and had my pic taken with the gentlemanly Mickey Mouse. I suddenly feel like I have brought great shame to myself, my family's honor, and the entity known as Fleshgod Apocalypse. What am I missing? Do I need to put "Wear a suit" on my bucket list? Or just accept the facts and commit seppuku?

imo If you've never had to wear a suit, I would consider yourself lucky. I fucking hate wearing suits. So glad my current job wants us to "dress comfortably."

Always amazes me when people who get banned try to make their way back in. Like, why do you even want to return to a community that doesn't even want you? Have some dignity and take the L and go find greener pastures.

From the perspective of someone who might be an ego-driven asshole or troll, I'd imagine they would personally feel insulted by a ban and wouldn't even want to come back. I guess some folks are gluttons for punishment and don't mind associating with a group of people that has open disdain for them. Weird...

Yeah I completely understand that, not really my point... but who wants to willingly be part of a community that they know for certain doesn't accept them? Move on, find another. There's other metal communities out there. It's like being a kid in school and getting with the same group every day that bullies you, I never understood that shit. Dude needs to go make some friends lol.

A weird dude I'd say, but it's no news that pain and negative emotions are addictive as well. As a side note, when I was getting into doom, I used to be in love with the low feeling it used to induce, though now I can enjoy it apathetically.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel more grounded being more passive and emotionally restrained - appreciating it for the music it is.

It's national high five day in the US of A. With the need for all these national days, nothing beats the forthcoming boss's day. :oh shit:

This is from the RIP thread. It should lead you to the right conclusion.
Zodi wrote:
One last thing I'll address, since it was mentioned, is drug use. Diamhea never hid his penchant for drugs. It was on and off. He talked about it with friends. Talked about it many times before, including the difficult parts. It was another way of coping with the torments of life. Several of us close to him talked about it, and he hadn't brought it up since last year. One thought he had kicked any habits. Last he mentioned it to me was last year, coming off a heavy prescription. Drugs were definitely a factor in coping with life over the years, and his friends were aware of this. A few days before he passed, he told an injured friend to pray for Vicodin. I don't know if he was using as he had in the past, but he had not mentioned it as he usually had. There's no shame in drug use, it would be no surprise if that was a factor, but he had been dealing with the struggles of life without heavy drugs in recent times, as far as we know.

Man why can't I remember the username of that clown from a year or so back who was a conspiracy theory nut and always bragged about being a detective in his spare time? I remember the beautiful climax of his time here was when he was banned for something or other and then immediately made a new account pretending to be someone else who corresponded with himself via PM and told the whole board we were assholes for being mean to him and getting him banned. Can't remember his name even though I took part in the ridicule. It was hilarious beyond belief.

We never got an official cause, but judging by the posts his mom made on his FB, it was probably an accidental overdose.

Last year I was seriously considering joining the French Foreign Legion (joining the army in my country is a fucking joke of a process). Is the wall in Game of Thrones similar to this? For one if you desert the wall, they hunt you down and kill you - similar. Lifestyles of both are also similar with the FFL a little bit worse. But they do both turn boys into something...

I love military discipline. The enticing part was learning multiple trades as a bonus, and their missions could be source of unmatched adventure (cue one I read they had been deployed to the innermost jungles of Brazil to stop gold smugglers). Also the thought of being a "security consultant" (:-P) who works around the world was the final currency that bought me.

I can't believe that Drudkh's Estrangement received a rating of 72% from MA reviewers. Definitely an underrated album. The rating should have been around a 85-90%.

It sounds a little bit homemade compared to the highlights of Drudkh's catalog that far, like Autumn Aurora and Blood In Our Wells, but it has a true charm of its own for that reason, and it's full of raw emotion unlike any other Drudkh album before or after. There are some pretty crappy parts, I have to admit, but it's still a great album, and it's just perfect because it's so unpolished.
