Man, I'd love to hear some new songs from them. At first I was tentative because, what if they didn't have it anymore? But it would be damn curious.

They're apparently working on a new album, but haven't posted any actual song clips AFAIK. They do post occasional updates on social media, so at least some progress is being made. Probably the typical "they're all dads with jobs now and can only find the time to meet up for 15 minutes every other solstice" kind of thing.

The new Terror record is GREAT. Heavy as a bulldozer, mosh parts, Leeway-like riffage. Everything just clicks. I wonder if the new Sick Of It All album will grab me in the same manner.

What's some of your favorite shit to read about on Wikipedia for sheer entertainment? I don't have a lot of downtime at my new job but when I do, I like reading interesting wikis. I've got a TON of mileage out of their "list of people who disappeared" pre- and post- 1970s. Some amazing, wild fucking stories on there. The last few days I've been reading the extensive exploits of "the king of Pirates" John Every. He was a total shitbag but damn it's an interesting read. He was only in the pirate game for a few years but he pulled off the most successful/largest act of piracy recorded at the time. Robbed two different Muslim vessels who were on their way back home from Mecca.

Other recent readings: Oh-My-god particle, list of deaths by dog attack, feral children

Open to suggestions!

For me, it's mostly articles on psychology, followed by philosophy. While the former is always really captivating, the latter gets less appraisal since the topics and focuses of many thinkers more often than not turn out to be rather pointless to me.

Edit: As for "wtf?"-natured entries, I usually refer to the "list of people who died laughing" (certainly one of the most elevated ways to pass away).

I most enjoy reading space, geology/deep history, and linguistics wikis. Unsolved crimes/missing people can also be interesting.

I'm already familiar with a lot of the material (and then some) in the nuke wikis, but sometimes they're good for a quick refresher, particularly with names.

It's almost cute seeing this. Did they answer the policeman by "What seems to be the officer problem?"

Despite what is most expected of Buzzfeed, they have a show called Buzzfeed Unsolved (or rather three of them) that covers this area in a rather entertaining way. Once Shane Madej is the counterpart around 4-6 episodes in, it has some great chemistry and is pretty good.

There's Buzzfeed Unsolved Crimes/Missing Persons/etc.
Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural, which is probably the only such "ghost hunter" show with a skeptical edge to it because of Shane.
Buzzfeed Unsolved: Sports. I haven't watched this one.

Buzzfeed Unsolved is great, great fun. Supernatural is more fun than True Crime, but True Crime is more intriguing.

Apparently the Ghost Adventures people just had a Halloween live special, and it went exactly as you would imagine a live ghost hunting adventure to go.

I'm just pissed that the special's whole hook ("We're gonna open the motherfuckin' Dybbuk Box, boizzz!") went unfulfilled. And that they brought back that obvious two-bit hack, Lady Snake. Zak, just because Lady Snake is your friend doesn't mean she's actually anything other than a snake oil salesman.

Saturday night, we had a bunch of friends over for a campfire in my back yard. I need a bigger fire pit, like the one I used to have but had to sell when I moved into an apartment. It was around 15 degrees (F) outside and some latent snow, but the cold just makes the fire more enjoyable. One sausage that was not eaten was frozen solid on the picnic table when we were finally done with the evening.

We're talking about doing this monthly now. So I need to get clever again and start looking for options to gather free wood. At my old house, I had amassed a giant stockpile of wood, almost all of it acquired for free, that I later chopped and sized myself. When we moved, I sold the entire pile for $60 and it filled a pick-up.

Now I have a house again, time for another firewood stockpile.

I decided to give myself a long weekend, currently filling my morning with Manilla Road's Out of the Abyss. The album that originally made me fall in love with them. Book of Skelos is still one of their best closers ever.

So I checked out Burning Witches' cover of Jawbreaker yesterday and found myself wondering if that song is still gay even when a woman is singing it. Something about that song just seems gay regardless of context in the most gloriously transcendental way.

I also use gay as a compliment. Or at least as a neutral adjective. Using gay as an insult is so 2003.

Got ya. I did not mean (and didn't) use it as a insult. The song is awesome. Period. Just all I wanted to say.

In other news - I hope I find my hardcore bands like Get The Shot. Their second and third albums have the soundtrack to my workouts recently.

I noticed you did not specify your enjoyment. I will state that the cover was damn awful. Not only was it a carbon copy of the original musically but the vocals are weak and to a pathetic degree.

I suppose some Priest songs can be butchered but you just do not butcher something from Defenders. It is only their most sophisticated album in a decade that had five other studio albums and a live release.

Most dislike the last three songs but I rather enjoy Night Comes Down. If you listen to the rhythm of the main refrain ("When the night comes down"), it plays almost note for note to the main rhythm of Michael Jackson's awesome Give Into Me. Maybe Michael was inspired by the song because the melody is almost completely note for note, only two short notes are added earlier in the E chord.

Yeah, I probably should've mentioned that I didn't exactly care for said cover. Might not have been gay enough, who knows?

Thought I'd throw this in the politics thread, but it's a bit too tangential for that, so here it goes.

Violent racist attacks black FedEx worker, is punched once in self-defense, and almost immediately dies due to atrocious health.
