Yeah that sounds like it, but it's so hard to tell. Very annoying disease that way.

I'm basically feeling normal now, it seems to be going away quite fast. Hoping I test negative soon.

I got Covid a while ago, my worst symptom was constant chills. Seems like it's always fine as long as you're vaccinated. I got raw dogged by the flu a few years back when I forgot to get my shot, that was a lot worse.

I got some annoying congestion thingy around St. Patrick's Day that hasn't gone away and sorta came back with a vengeance a few days ago. Finally on the antibiotics as it's irritating as hell if not actually crippling or anything. I'd rather have omicron!

The weather in my area is fucking killing me. Last weekend it was around 75-80, then throughout the week it was normally 55-60 at best, and now it's going back up to the 70s.

I just want ONE week with consistent weather, man :(

Here it is consistently cold. Freezing at nights.

Went down a weird rabbit-hole on YouTube and keep getting recommended 8-bit covers of classic metal albums (Ride the Lightning, Rust in Peace, tons of other stuff). There's something oddly hypnotic about them - it's like being trapped in a 90s video game score but it has riffs.

I wish they'd take those and put the isolated vocal tracks on top tho, I think it would make it better it really just makes you realize how vital vocals are to most metal

Oh yeah, I love me some Metal chiptunes; this 8-bit version of Dissection's "Unhallowed" in particular kind of sounds like a piece of music from a Castlevania game in places: https://youtu.be/ToXLiJAYEh4

Not really. Cops around here ain’t worth shit and furthermore, they’re too busy busting 14 years old kids smoking pot in parks.

It's similar here. Argentinian cops are notoriously useless for anything that isn't police brutality and shooting suspects while they're running away.

I guess I should be fortunate that our cops in Australia are (generally) okay, although sometimes heavy-handed.

I've been following the Johnny Depp trial since yesterday and I'm glad I tuned in today. I was on the fence until about five minutes ago when Amber Heard took the stand and started blatantly acting when her lawyer asked her if she remembers the first time she was hit. It seems like Depp was probably verbally abusive so he's still kind of shitty, but I don't think he was physically abusive.

Quit my job this morning. My short-term future is a little uncertain but I'm glad to see the end of that place.

Also, I fucking hate cops. The ones in the UK are useless and the ones I've interacted with in the US are a bunch of bastards

I think it's overall pretty obvious that Amber Heard is kinda the bigger villain in that whole thing, but there's just a couple things that irritated me about the whole thing:

I kinda got annoyed over people doing the whole "men can be abused too!!" Felt disingenuous when people only seem to have opinions like that when it's convenient otherwise they're mysteriously silent.

Amber Heard sounds like a total twat, but In my experience toxic relationships are usually two sided especially when drugs are involved, I've been in one's where me and my GF were both drug addicts and I was abusive, and so were they, I think it's a little different than the Harvey Weinstein type deal of one person clearly being the aggressor, and somebody else clearly being a victim, people are kinda making it really cut and dry, when it's more complex than that

That being said, I think she's the bigger villain in all of this, and I guess it's good people are realizing woman are just as toxic as men, just in different ways, it seemed to me not a lot of people like to acknowledge that.

Nightgaunt just put out a new full length:

What are some good news sources that don't have paywalls? I usually just go to CNN and Reddit, but I'm thinking NPR would be decent. I don't want opinions, I just want the facts so I can draw my own conclusions.

Oh shit, how long have Dismember been back on Spotify? Still no "Like An Everflowing Stream" or "Indecent & Obscene" though, and I imagine those are the ones I should listen to first. YouTube it is then.

Those two first, Hate Campaign last.

In between, go wherever, though Massive Killing Capacity is definitely rockier than the rest.

Speaking of Dismember, they just bailed on Maryland Deathfest at the last minute because, according to their own statement, they're anti-vaxers and were hopeful restrictions would've fully lifted by now. I've got a couple friends going to the fest who're rightfully gutted, but holy shit that's slimy of the band to wait this long before pulling the plug for such a bullshit reason.

I started a new job, working with CNC machines, and I’m wearing the highest attenuation rated ear muffs I could find, but I have tinnitus, after work. What am I doing wrong? I asked my coworkers, and they all either use noise canceling headphones, and listen to music, or don’t use anything, and don’t care.

The ear muffs are supposed to be really good at blocking high frequencies. They don’t seem to do anything, for the sound of the router bit, cutting metal, or the dust vacuums. Are those low frequency?

I’m going to wear earplugs, tomorrow, in addition to ear muffs, does anyone have any experience with this?

Not exposed to nearly the same amount of noise you are, but I do have a problem with environmental sounds, so when I need to, I use a combination of ear plugs and ear muffs and I've found that I feel properly isolated only when I wear both.

Now, I don't know much about the nature of your job. Consider that it might be dangerous to wear ear plugs, because they can prevent you from hearing your colleagues, which is obviously a hazard in emergency situations, so get solid, reliable information about whether you're allowed/supposed to wear ear plugs in the environment you work in.

If you are, learn the correct way to place them. I use foam ear plugs - roll the plug until it's at its thinnest, pull the ear upward and slightly backward (it straightens the ear canal) and push the plug in carefully before it's expanded, then release the ear, gently press on the wide end of the ear plug so that it doesn't slide out and wait 25-30 seconds for it to expand.

There are also silicon and wax ear plugs, but I haven't used them. In case you're using those, google the proper insertion procedure.

We just had a fucking crazy dust storm in the midwest. You'll find pictures if you look it up. I was chilling in my office room when I saw the clouds coming in, it must have been scary for everyone who was driving at the time.
