That's a bevy of the who's who in entertainment.

I know 3 Doors Down from that list. Hadn't heard of that name in years.

Toby Keith is still pretty relevant in the world of country music.

On a slightly related note one of the people I was out with tonight is a hardcore Trumper.... ugghh. So god damn annoying.,

Most of the pro-Trump people I've met in Canada were the redneck type from Alberta, but there was one Trump fan who really left me scratching my head. So in the summer I worked for a moving company, which had about 80% Arab employees. We got a new guy who was also Arab. One day everyone was roasting Trump and this guy comes in and is like, actually guys he's going to save the American economy and Hillary is corrupt. Then it was pointed out that Trump is also obviously going to be corrupt and that he's said he was considering banning Muslims from America (this pro-Trump guy is Muslim and had lived in America for a while). The guy is then says actually he's not corrupt because he has so much money that he doesn't need any money from the lobbyists and that all politicians are racist and that he likes that at least Trump is honest about it. Uhhh.....

I didn't think there were any Trump supporters that were part of minorities. No one can be that stupid, surely.

That's a very good point; and one I should have thought of. Hell, I saw that in action with the whole Brexit debacle over here.

Trump's people regularly talk about how his 8 percent of the black vote was some kind of an accomplishment...so, yeah, there were a few minorities who voted for him...

Whatever happened to Trump "wanting to avoid a circus-like atmosphere in favour of a more back-to-work mindest"? http://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/world/trum ... -1.3239621

Seems this guy just can't resist ostentatiously throwing money around.

Well, plenty of people who voted for Obama also voted for Trump last year, too, so it can't be just racist rednecks who hate political correctness who voted for him now, don't you think?

Anyway, I maintain that this Cracked article explains the Trumpist mindset best (I know it's fucking Cracked yes but hear me out):

Of course it's not just racist hicks voting for Trump. I think a lot of his victory had to do with the death of the American dream in middle America and his claims he could bring the jobs back, as well as a host of other reasons. But I don't think it's strange to be a bit surprised meeting a Muslim in favour of him after he literally said he was considering banning Muslims from entering America.

Fun Fact: Last time I checked, Toby Keith was a registered democrat and doesn't allow guns in his restaurants. He just also super duper loves America to the point of stereotypical right wing jingoism and he needs to keep up appearances for the country music crowd.

I can understand a few different minority groups having Trump supporters. Some of the coverage of Trump's comments towards various minority groups was slanted to make it seem worse than it actually was, as should be expected.

Muslims are not one of those groups. He very clearly stated his preference was to ban immigration from majority-Muslim countries. He later changed this to more aggressive background checks of immigrants from majority-Muslim countries, which is more sensible, but I think the cat was already out of the bag at that point. We know what Trump thinks of Muslims at this point.

I can sort of understand secular or atheist people of middle-eastern descent and former Muslims supporting Trump depending on how seriously they believe his word about taking out ISIS. I have a Persian-American friend who takes that view. But it's quite a bit different for a practicing Muslim to support Trump.

That Cracked article would have saved the Democratic party a lot of electoral headaches had it been written and widely read 20 years ago.

How much of this is true, do you reckon? I ask because there's a similar trend in Australia - unless you're living in one of the 5 major cities, you're a nobody.

People who voted for him and also voted for Obama might not be racist in that they are OK with a black president, but they are, at least, completely indifferent to racism (and also misogyny and homophobia, among other things).

While it can be a distinction, it's honestly not that much better.

Honestly I think a lot of people voted for Trump for the same reason they voted for Obama - they're in shitty circumstances and they'll vote for anything that smacks of a big change from the status quo.

Yeah god forbid minorities step off the democrat plantation. I guess it's totally impossible for people to have voted for Trump because they supported his policies and disagreed with Clinton's.

What are Trump's policies exactly? Other than do away with the EPA and take away people's health insurance without coming up with a replacement first? I mean I know he plans of making money for himself while in office. But other than selling out the American people to make himself and his friends richer, what exactly are his policies? Cause is don't think I ever heard a single one. Or how he's going to accomplish any of them.

As long as Trump mostly governs as a center-right president with a focus domestically and less on stupid wars, I will be happy. The markets have been looking great lately as well. Anyways, you could watch some of the many policies speeches he made during the campaign or simply read his website.

Well I watched his speeches, and the news coverage, and a few other things. The problem I found is that all he ever did was pander to whatever got him more spotlight that day. One day he's building a wall, then he isn't. One day America is going to ban an entire demographic of people, now we're not. Like make up your fucking mind guy. Shit.

Aside from the obvious problems (racism, homophobia, misogyny, classism, etc etc) I could never take the orange man seriously cause he just panders like a fucking twat. And he lies ostensibly. And he's too thin skinned and gets into twitter wars. But back to his policy of just telling people what they want to hear. That's his only policy. And that makes him not only useless but dangerous.

I know the default response is to accuse people of a laundry list of -isms, but so far Trump has already talked with many large businesses and a lot of them have committed new investments in the US. So far so good I say and he's not even in office yet. I'll wait it out about a year and see how it goes. Hillary is more guilty of lying and pandering anyway.

I'm not sure anyone could pander more than Trump, and just because Hillary was a bad choice doesn't absolve Trump of the nonsense he does.

Giving an air conditioning company a massive bribe to keep 800 jobs here (while simultaneously letting them send another thousand out of the country) isn't being a good leader lmao. Dude threatened Toyota (maybe Honda) a week or two ago for their plans of building a factory in Mexico. That's not even a fucking American company! Mexico has straight up said they are willing to enter into a tariff war, which is good for no one.
And that laundry list is largely right. Nothing reeks of having a problem with PoC like getting in a Twitter fight with a goddamn civil rights hero on the weekend before MLK Day (fun fact: Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama all celebrate Robert E Lee Day on the same day as MLK Day! Wonder why?????). I won't even get into how he's a misogynist, because that should be obvious. He may not be a homophobe, but he'll enable it no problem. Good old Mike Pence believes queers like me oughta be fucking ELECTROCUTED. I get that that's not your problem, but empathy goes a long way.
Also, using the ol 'b-b-but muh Hillary!' is annoying. I know her goobers would be doing the same goddamn thing, but still.
Fuck politics in this thread.

Fair enough. I only jumped in because the whole "how could anyone possibly disagree with me" thing is incredibly annoying. My father immigrated to this country legally and fairly. Granting mass amnesty to everyone is unfair to people like that.

I'll leave it at this.

Quote:
“Earlier this month I met with President-elect Trump and shared my commitment to investing and creating jobs in the U.S.,” SoftBank’s Son said in the statement. “This is the first step in that commitment.”

When they met on Dec. 6, Trump and Son exhibited their usual flair for the dramatic. The Japanese billionaire promised to invest, through SoftBank’s technology fund, $50 billion in the U.S. and create jobs. That helped to burnish Trump’s job-creating credentials, and may also smooth the way for a merger between SoftBank-controlled U.S. wireless carrier Sprint Corp. and T-Mobile US Inc. SoftBank shares fell less than 1 percent on Tuesday in early trading in Tokyo.

I'll comment on this and be done as well, since we've all managed to be civil here which is nice and amazing. I agree immigration and all things tied with it need an overhaul but I don't have the answers. I just don't think Trump or his people do either. The other thing that you mentioned here about the deals worries me too. How many back door deals is Trump going to make or not make to benefit himself? He refuses to absolve himself of his companies or assets. It's not right and will cause doubt in the public opinion forever. You can't be president and have so man conflicts of interest. Or put your family in the positions he has.

It's still a bit surreal that Trump is gonna officially get into office in 4 days. And I guess in 2020 he'll square off against The Rock. WWE taking over 'Murrca, eh?

And ofc, his inauguration concert just had to be called "The Make America Great Again Welcome Celebration!" didn't it?

His lack of experience might be dangerous as far as his foreign policy goes. I mean, as for domestic policy goes he'll have a senate and a congress to deal with who can veto his propositions. But I have a feeling his team will get on his ears a lot. I think Trump will just be a puppet in the hands of his "friends" honestly.

If the Trump conversation continues, whoever it is who decides to make the next post should instead make a thread about it. The election thread pretty well died but him being sworn in in a couple of days would probably warrant a new thread, and would definitely help to keep this undoubtedly heated discussion out of the FFA, where people (usually!) just want to relax.

Well I dunno. maybe a "Trump inauguration concert" thread could be made considering one could discuss music in it, if we have enough 3 Doors Down and Toby Keith fans in here that is. Maybe some members here will be attending it, who knows.

Had to take money out of my "house fund" to pay for car repair and service. $540 of cash I will never see again for them to fix the minor engine problem and tell me my car is diagnostically fine. This is why I'll never be rich (that and my lack of any type of qualifications, haha).

So with that, I transferred another $200 and I'm going to buy some music with it. Zero fucks given. :)

I've actually recently come to terms with the fact that I just don't like King Diamond's solo career all that much with the glorious exceptions that are Abigail and Conspiracy (and to a lesser extent, "Them"). Mercyful Fate's original run is some of the best music (not just metal) ever created and it seems like King himself follows the same general rule of "80s = brilliance, 90s and beyond = not bad I guess but eh".
