Anyway, we are way past the drink and drugs convo. Just make sure you havw your accounts in order, otherwise your nephew will be soending 3 weeks cleaning out your fucking house, ans calling the hazmat team. Make sure your 3 cats have a litter box.

All right, all right, sorry I brought it up.

I'm not sure how to respond to PDS' post but we're getting a cat in our house this year, really looking forward to the responsibilities with him/her and the bonding. :) I'm really not sure where to put the litter box, though, (because I have a young, autistic brother and in no way do I want him fiddling around with cat shit) aside from an empty slot in my wardrobe and I'm worried it'll stink up my clothes.

Watching clips of the inauguration and a thought occurs to me: Love him or hate him, he's a politician hundreds of miles away from where all these people live. If you get so upset about what a politician says, given that they are fundamentally amoral assholes no matter what their persuasion, there are 2 possibilities. Either you're buying into symbolic media driven manipulation, which is a sign of hysteria. Or alternatively you have allowed yourself to reach a position where something the government can actually do (rather than theoretically or symbolically do) affects you in an immediate day to day sense, in which case I would suggest you have much bigger problems that which figurehead wins a popularity contest.

The closet is one place you can put it. If you get good enough litter than it won't stink up the place. I've gone through clay-based and corn-based and I have found it depends on the cat. Are you getting it young? If it is still a baby, it should probably sleep in a cage with the box in there at first. Imo the best place to put it would be near the washer/dryer.

My friends and I call things like these "toilet thoughts," because they're the kind of thing you think of when you're taking a good long shit in a quiet place (and don't have a book or smartphone handy). Also because they're shit.

The closet? Soo... a wardrobe? If you're talking about a small room where clothes are hung, then we don't have one. I dunno about his/her age, we haven't gone into that much detail yet, but I'll ask tomorrow. I'm also not so sure about keeping him/her in the room with the washer and dryer as well, since it's also the place where we keep my little brother's chocolates, so we have to keep the door locked all the time otherwise he devours the whole lot and we end up spending a lot of money on buying more stuff and yadayadayada. Also, it's super tiny.

Recently picked up Lugubrum's most recent album Herval. It's pretty damn awesome to see a band that has continued to progress their sound while still retaining the spirit of their old works. These fuckers have the correct balance of odd-ball experimentation and black metal trueisms rooted in their sound. Love it. Can already tell that I'll be binging on them again.

Fuck "Wikia." Fuck it for coming up first in search engines just because it is a for-profit, and fuck it for taking over formerly good wiki-type pages and rendering them difficult to even casually navigate without being overrun by ads. Gotta love the "You are leaving X wikia, are you sure?" While you stare at an ad.

Re: Wikia: A while ago a mod went nuts on the Silent Hill wikia and started inserting his personal views on circumcision into most of the pages (none of which relate to circumcision in any way). Good times!

And fuck all the ads, yeah. I don't use adblock because almost no sites I go to have ads. Even on Facebook, they aren't very intrusive and 90% the time they just show me Ebay listings for vinyl that I actually looked at before, therefore might be interested in.

I don't watch a lot of YouTube videos. I'm always somewhat shocked when I'm on Facebook or something and people seem to do all of their music-listening via YouTube. Sometimes I check out a song on there but usually I just watch documentaries.

I don't watch any of the funny videos because I don't have a sense of humor.

I normally don't use youtube to listen to music either when I can just open Spotify instead. Unless the music I want to listen to are video game OSTs and such or something obscure that isn't available on Spotify.

Funny videos and channels? Only Cinemassacre/AVGN here. I mostly use youtube to watch documentaries and sports related stuff. And also to occasionally re-watch older cartoons and anime from my childhood and listening to video game OSTs.

People use YouTube to listen to music because it's free like SoundCloud but the audio quality is better (192 vs 128; at one point some of the videos were even in 250), it has a greater diversity of music than SoundCloud, and being older it has more individual songs. I like and use both for discovering music.

I mean more in the sense that I am a member of some music-related groups on Facebook and people say things like "I can't remember the last time I bought an album," and then my head explodes, because I often buy several albums per week. I don't like streaming music but if I did, I'd at least occasionally try to support bands I like, I would hope. But then, I've been told I'm abnormally attached to physical formats and haven't yet entered the 21st century.

I had a very weird trade with a friend lately. I gave him my Aerosmith's Get A Grip CD, and he gave my Sepultura's Beneath the Remains (yeah boiiiiii) and Trivium's The Crusade (is was supposed to be The Adversary, but he got confused apparently).

Is The Crusade that bad as people say?

The Crusade is a hard album to find a truly objective view on. It's weird to think that this was all over ten years ago now, so I've got to dig back into high school here, but back in the mid-2000s Trivium was one of the easiest metalcore bands to pick on. Ascendancy got so much shit thrown at if for all sorts of legitimate reasons, from the lame songs to the terrible vocals, metalheads across the internet had them painted as a target from the get go. This was pre-deathcore, so metalcore was still the chief "invading force" from the outside trying to infiltrate and pollute metal, and Trivium was both one of the most visible and one of the lamest, so they never really had a chance with metalheads. The Crusade, on the other hand, ditched a ton of the metalcore trappings and was, if my memory serves, mostly just a straight up Metallica worship thrash album, with the riffs being a lot faster and shaper, with Heafy ditching his awful screams almost entirely for a cleaner and more melodic approach. To metal fans, this only furthered the belief that they were somehow trying to infiltrate metal for some nefarious purpose, and the metalcore fans who loved Trivium prior were split between seeing it as some sort of wussification for ditching the screaming or seeing it as an absolutely brilliant album with tons of new ideas that blew the previous stuff out of the water, inadvertently solidifying the prevailing thought that "true" metal was better than metalcore by default. Pretty much any review you can find from that era is tainted by one of those three mindsets, so if you want to find out what it's like without actually listening to it, you'd do best to find some sort of retrospective type review, now that all the brouhaha has died down and Trivium has faded into irrelevancy.

Personally, I haven't heard it in a decade but I don't remember it being anything special. Weak songs and new but still crappy vocals with some decent soloing and not much else.

Almost anything is better than metalcore by default, though.

I've never heard any Trivium.

I liked Aerosmith a lot as a kid. I tried listening to them again recently and found I really can't stand any of their 80s or 90s stuff anymore, though some of their 70s stuff is tolerable. I don't really understand what I saw in them. If I still had my copy of Get a Grip, I'd probably give it away or trade it, given the chance, though.

Out of curiosity, how much (pointless) work does Sloth make for the moderators and administrators of this site? Because if ever a band deserved to be blacklisted for that alone, they'd seem to take the cake.

Heh, practically none. Users periodically add Sloth's new albums, but there's no impact on the staff. Besides the band has started to lose its novelty, too. Others have been following suit.

It still had A LOT of metalcore staples/tendencies and that's why I can't enjoy it or recommend it favorably. If they went full Metallica clone I'd probably have enjoyed it. Sure it's better and more tolerable than something like Atreyu but that's not saying much.

I think this might be the worst, most puzzling shit I've ever found in the band queue. It just keeps on giving by reusing drum machine presets and plagiarizing Kiss.

The amen break and major chords in the second track remind me of a shittier version of the Meads of Asphodel's two shitty albums (Exhuming the Grave of Yeshua and Damascus Steel).

Really, you think this is the worst? This is pretty cool aside from the goofy drum machine. Sounds like Liturgy mixed with The Number Twelve Looks Like You.
