My condolences.

Also makes me think of when I was in college and they had some video game system set up in a dorm lobby where I worked as a security assistant, and they were playing Rock Band or something like that and singing terrible songs off key, and it ruined my day.

So there was an attempted terrorist attack in France, a guy with a machete wanting to attack at the Louvre, shot by soldiers before being able to do anything. Basically, the guy appears to have had the idea to attack a place guarded by the French army with a big knife. Am I the only one who is strongly reminded of the swordsman scene in Indiana Jones? Guy waving around his sword in front of a guy with a gun, the latter probably just going "wtf, just shooting the guy..." I literally picture it happening like that in my mind.

I'm going to a black metal festival on Saturday, and they just posted this on Facebook:

Quote:
Good morning. Just got a message from Misþyrming & Naðra from the airport: "Police are on the way to inspect our bullet belts".

After Batushka and Korgonthurus cancelled due to illness (and Antifa blackmailed the venue to cancel two bands on Friday), the last remaining bands I care to see cancelling would certainly cement this as the biggest farce I've experienced with any music event ever. If I don't get to see Misþyrming, I might as well not even fucking attend.

Still not as bad as Frostbite, mind. Also mind, I didn't go to that one or this one. *beams*

I vaguely remember that. I wasn't even planning to attend, though. Apparently in that case it was entirely fucked up by the organisers. I should stress that in this case, the organisers are absolutely not to blame for any of the cancellations.

Misþyrming is an absolute beast of a band, and I want to see them live whenever there's a chance. Iceland is a very isolated country, and bands like that don't really get to play abroad unless they're invited to a festival that pays for their flights and such. To me, they're currently the best black metal band.

I almost wanted to say that all this proves is that Allman Brothers are kvlt as fuck, but honestly CCR >>>>> Allman Brothers so hard it's not even a comparison.

I'd take CCR over them in a heartbeat too, but I still dig on some Allman Brothers. Their Filmore East album is a ton of fun to throw on when you just need to hear a 25 minute version of whippin' post. Huge fan of Grand Belial's Key though and always adored their logo. This cracked me up.

Now I just need to find some band that ripped off the CCR logo which is way fuckin' cooler than GBK to prove you wrong.

Hahah I'm so confused, I didn't even make a challenge-able statement!

I googled the CCR logo for reference and I can't say I've ever seen THIS one before. It's actually heavy as fuck. Reminds me of cult USPM legends Grudge a bit:

CCR over Allman Brothers? I'll relent to the standard CCR quality being greater than the standard Allman Brothers quality, but "Midnight Rider," "Mountain Jam," and those epic live versions of "Whippin' Post" blow everything Fogherty did out of the water.

He should've used a Katana. Their blades are folded over one million times to produce an edge so sharp it can cut through time itself, not to mention bullets. The guards wouldn't have stood a chance.

I always pack a Hatori Hanzo

acid_bukkake: Sounds like we're dangerously close to agreeing. Allman Brothers are a "highlight" band for me. Their best songs are INSANE. Midnight Rider and Whippin Post specifically. But Creedence just kept churning out awesome songs and they could hit a lot of different gears which I appreciate.

Nah see they're on whole different planes. Allman Brothers, at their best (and I agree with you about what that is) were tapping into the soul of rock and roll, attempting to be really rootsy but grandiose at the same time. It's not an ignoble cause, not at all, but CCR to me seem like a band that existed in the rock generation but in all regards as a matter of ethos were just stomping, no fucks given swamp music. Give me the latter any day.

I have a feeling bands such as CCR, Eagles, The Monkeys, etc. aren't given much credit nowadays and their legacies will fade in time due to their top 3 songs being overplayed to death on radio stations on a dialy basis and many people born in the 80s and beyond just disregarding them for being "dad rock". It's a shame, though.

You'd be surprised. Now it's "grandpa rock," and what's old becomes new again.

So, is our consensus that CCR's average was better than AB's average, but AB's highs are greater than CCR's?

Listening to Judas Priest - Turbo since the 30th anniversary edition was just released. This album is just as bad as I remember it. Glad I didn't drop $20 to buy it again.

It's still a hundred times better than Point of Entry. Woof, what an album.

Turbo is so underrated. It's not great or anything but it's some good stupid fun. But I agree with FSM though, Point of Entry is boring as hell.

This Leeches Of Lore album I bought is like Slough Feg style dirty heavy metal riffing, some Rush-y prog structures and now I am hearing Deep Purple style keys. Really cool so far... and it helped the ACLU get to like a million bucks in donations.

The only time I enjoy being around exceptionally drunk people is when I'm (at least fairly) sober. Think I might actually go back for round 2 tomorrow. If the threat of getting kicked out for bringing your own alcohol in wasn't enough, the almost $4 for a fuckin bud light will certainly demolish any hopes of getting a decent buzz on in that establishment. When's trump gonna fix this?

Now that it seems I'm unfortunately going to survive my influenza-pneumonia combo, a word of warning: while ordering stuff online, remember that Spanish fly and Spanish flu only have a difference of a single letter between them.

You know, I'm not one of those people who complain about political correctness. I think usually the people who complain about political correctness are idiots, because they're just complaining that they can't be prejudice against others and express their ignorant and hateful views without having someone call them out on it. But you know what bugs me? How you can't say "I'm gonna fucking kill your whole family" to someone you hate, or "I'd fucking stab you in the neck", without having someone take it as a "serious legal threat". You don't really mean it when you say stuff that sounds like you're supporting or would go and kill someone. I just wish that people wouldn't freak the fuck out about it, because sometimes you say stuff when you're mad and it's not like you'd really do it, but you just say it because it's more cathartic than saying "sir you are most certainly annoying me with your language right now. I am quite offended". I just wanna be like, I'll fucking stab you in the neck. Not that I actually would, mr cop.

Certainly seems like you're a staunch defender of political correctness. I don't know how anyone could construe a statement like "I'm gonna fucking kill your whole family" as politically incorrect. Anyone who takes offense from that clearly doesn't understand your politically pure intentions.

I think you're contradicting yourself. You're saying you don't complain about it, but yet here you are doing the opposite. And no, people that hate political correctness are not idiots. People need to grow the fuck up and get on with it, period. I will never stop making or hearing jokes about anybody and any bloody thing because speech will never die, you gender non-conforming bozos (not directed at anyone in particular).

If you go to a fascist rally, I mean uh, sorry, a trump rally, you'll probably find a lot more people who whine about political correctness than if you go to a bernie sanders rally or something. You know what the general consensus is of people on the left? Political correctness is made up, it's a ghost problem made up by the right wing. Not only that, but what people usually call political correctness is just being polite. Like, no one's going after your comedians. I always, Always hear people talking about "muh freeze peach!" when the issue of political correctness comes up. Just because you say something doesn't mean you're entitled not to have someone call you out on it, or that you're entitled to a platform.

That segues me to another subject. That whole berkley incident that happened recently with that flaming pile of dog shit milo yiannopolus. You're not entitled to a public platform to speak, if the students really don't want that guy spreading his views on their campus, who can blame them? Yeah, they don't want him to speak there, what should give him the right to do it? It's not like he can't just go speak somewhere else.

WisdomOvTheTrees, you have the brain of a tree. The Berkeley riots are despicable, trying to silence free speech when they started the movement 50 years ago. You don't have to agree with Milo Yiannopoulos, but he is entitled to speak on campuses and he isn't spreading "hateful views". You're just a closeted politically correct individual by the looks of it. That's all I have to say about this garbage.

Not going to take part in any political/social discussions on the FFA anymore. I respect it too much.
