Perhaps I'm off-base here but I took Napero's "Why should I care, if my opinions do not carry weight?" phrase as an attempted illustration of how most other men respond when invocations of privilege enter into such conversations.

John McCain just died. We all knew this was coming.

John McCain, a Vietnam War hero, two-time Republican presidential contender and towering figure in Congress known for his bipartisan deal-making during six terms as an Arizona senator, has died. He was 81.

McCain's office confirmed his death at 4:28 p.m. Saturday in a statement.

Donald Trump’s arrival at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, Saturday morning marked 150 days of his 582 days in office that he’s spent at a golf club bearing his own name. That is a quarter of his time in office.

The visit also marked his 193rd day at a Trump property. Or a third of his time in office.

A man with whom I rarely agreed, but also a man who deserves immense respect;

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... es-aged-81

Quote:
McCain’s first brush with death came in July 1967 when, as a a navy pilot in the Vietnam war, a missile exploded near his fuel tanks, causing a ship fire that killed 134 troops. Three months later he was shot down over Vietnam, breaking both arms and a leg, and was captured by the North Vietnamese.

McCain was offered early release because his father was a four-star admiral but rejected it until his fellow PoWs were also freed. During five years in captivity, including more than two in solitary confinement, he suffered beatings and torture almost daily.

That McCain displayed rare fortitude in the “Hanoi Hilton” was common cause - until Trump mocked him during the 2016 election campaign, telling a conference in Iowa: “He’s not a war hero.” The future president, who avoided the draft five times, added: “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

FOX News had to shut down comments on every single recent video about John McCain because MAGAchuds had to MAGAchud in the comments. At least they kept the like/dislike bar in place so you can plainly see the type of people who watch FOX News.

You'd think with all this time on golf courses, Trump would be practiced enough to not cheat constantly at the game.

Why would anyone be surprised by this? The man looks like he can barely climb a flight of stairs, much less engage in any kind of physically strenous activity, such as fucking.

The (still not failing) New York Times posted a bleak opinion piece on the current state of things and the way Republicans have clearly become scarily authoritarian. And no, this appears to no longer be fun hyperbole.

It includes this little reminder of Republican hostility to the country as a whole:

Quote:

Just look at what has been happening at the state level.

In North Carolina, after a Democrat won the governorship, Republicans used the incumbent’s final days to pass legislation stripping the governor’s office of much of its power.

In Georgia, Republicans tried to use transparently phony concerns about access for disabled voters to close most of the polling places in a mainly black district.

In West Virginia, Republican legislators exploited complaints about excessive spending to impeach the entire State Supreme Court and replace it with party loyalists.

And these are just the cases that have received national attention. There are surely scores if not hundreds of similar stories across the nation. What all of them reflect is the reality that the modern G.O.P. feels no allegiance to democratic ideals; it will do whatever it thinks it can get away with to entrench its power.

As well as this depressing morsel:

Quote:
This week Axios created a bit of a stir with a scoop about a spreadsheet circulating among Republicans in Congress, listing investigations they think Democrats are likely to carry out if they take the House. The thing about the list is that every item on it — starting with Donald Trump’s tax returns — is something that obviously should be investigated, and would have been investigated under any other president. But the people circulating the document simply take it for granted that Republicans won’t address any of these issues: Party loyalty will prevail over constitutional responsibility.

Yeah, but no one uses porn websites more than old, white, religious racists. It's how they work on the hypocrisy that defines their very being.

Trump will always come up with an excuse and has done so many times. The list of other nonsense he's spouted is very long... he claimed that millions of people voted illegally and he would've won more votes than Hilary Clinton otherwise, which is a perfect example of why we can't believe anything he says and how he cannot accept his unpopularity. All presidents will have haters and many negative results on Google... some more than others... part of the job is realizing and accepting it, which he is clearly incapable of. Every single word he says is incredibly unplausible.

I would bet a large sum of money that the recent tirade against Google, Facebook and Twitter is the direct result of watching some piece about it on FOX or the like.

More shit on the heap: Trump warns Evangelical leaders in a closed-door meeting at the White House that a "blue wave" in November will mean that the left will start violently taking them all out.

These people know god is a lie, or they wouldn't spend all their time trying to do the petty work of an all-powerful deity. But this is Trump heavily sucking up to his remaining base. People who, if they had any morals, ethics, or standards at all, would not support a man like Trump. It's disgusting, and only these people are stupid enough to fall for it. Which is troubling for this country.

Real Christians pray.
Fake Christians vote.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white- ... d_nn_fb_ma

Quote:
President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he was canceling pay raises for most federal employees that had been set to go into effect in January, citing government budget concerns.

In a letter to House and Senate leaders, Trump wrote that he’d decided “across-the-board” pay raises as well as locality pay raises for civilian federal workers in 2019 would be frozen.

“I have determined that for 2019, both across‑the‑board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero,” he wrote. “These alternative pay plan decisions will not materially affect our ability to attract and retain a well‑qualified Federal workforce,” Trump added.

In the letter, Trump said a 25.7-percent pay raise for localities, as well as a 2.1-percent pay increase for across-the-board pay, both scheduled for January 2019, would add billions to the federal deficit. Specifically, he pointed to the scheduled locality pay raise as costing $25 billion.

“We must maintain efforts to put our Nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and Federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases,” Trump wrote in the letter.

Well at least we now know how he plans to pay for the tax cuts for the rich.

Also, this is an actual comment from the NBC News Facebook post for this article:

Quote:
Good. The federal government is not a business and people should be discouraged from making careers within something that should be a public service.

It's impossible to be surprised or taken aback by the insane troll logic of Trump supporters anymore. How much you wanna bet the guy who said this lauded Trump for wanting to run the government like a business during the election?

I like the timing of this. Surely these people will have this in mind when November rolls around.

The reality is that this is disgusting and cruel. Annual pay raises in this country barely make up for cost of living increases. I particularly enjoyed his notion about overblowing the deficit. He already did that.

This directly affects me as a federal government worker. That spindly little increase I got from the massive tax cuts Republicans passed will now be negated by the cancelling of this cost of living increase.

I wonder if my parents (who are such staunch supporters of Trump's and who also were federal government workers themselves and who also have had conversations with me about how that cost of living helps ME, their own son) will take heed of this BAD and SAD change that hurts me, and finally chips away a tiny bit at the cult of personality.

But I doubt it.

Let's start with the obvious elephant (GOP pun not intended) in the room: the stupid motherfucker the US calls a president these days. Just for kicks, I've compiled a timeline of all the fuckery he's caused since his first day in office. There's something pretty much every day. And I probably left tons of things out too because that's how crazy this world has become.

Oh, by the way, if you voted for this clown, you're really, truly, a stupid motherfucker too. And if you still support him after all this, you're double that.

Not compiling all the sources (maybe I'll edit them later) because it'd take too long, but all of this is obviously easily verifiable information (mixed with some of my own biased commentary, but the facts remain). Items grouped together happened on the same day. Items in bold are particularly egregious.

Welp. Good job, America. Good thing you didn't elect the sane lady who misused an email server, who knows what kind of state the world would be in today...

Just because you don't like the POTUS Donald Trump and don't support him doesn't mean that you can use abusive and derogatory language against him, insult him, his supporters and the GOP, the American people who voted for him and the mandate given by them to him. And, anyways, as a Canadian you didn't vote in the US elections. :P

It is not a case of if I live in India - it's a fact that I live in India, period. As for you, you got your location wrong. You live in eccaira nare epe Anar.

As for the topic in question, your reply here is nowhere relevant to it.

In that case, as an Indian you didn't vote in the US elections so who are you to lecture anyone on this continent about how we describe our politicians?

Let me make one thing crystal clear to you. I quoted Morrigan and it's after that you poked your nose like a holier-than-thou, self-styled defender-of-the-faith. So, if you end up with a bloody nose, then it's because of you and you only and you deserve it.

As an Indian, yes, I didn't vote in the election. I have a nationality, in your case, you don't even have that, so don't talk about elections and least of all voting. You didn't vote going by your location. So who are you to lecture me on anything including about this topic?

Who do you think you are? Some, self-declared spokesperson of Morrigan or of this continent or for that matter do you have any exclusive copyright over politicians to call them "our politicians"?

If you don't like what I've said, then, that's your problem, not mine.

Try to get a location on this continent, if you can. :P

Thanks for the kind words. My intent was never that. Earthcubed just got on my nerves by poking his nose unnecessarily.

As for the so-called liberals (and progressives), I don't want to insult the word(s) liberal (and progressives) by using it for them. There is nothing liberal (and progressive) about them. They are just Left-wingers masquerading as liberals (and progressives), the most intolerant, rude, arrogant, condescending, patronizing and anti-national people out there (it's not that the Right-wingers and the Centrists have a monopoly on patriotism), its just that the Left-wingers are obnoxious to the core and wrongly assume that they are the repository of truth, knowledge, honesty, righteousness and act like holier-than-thou, self-styled defender-of-the-faith and descend like mobs or even worse like vultures scavenging for carrion on anyone who differs from them, be it in thinking, opinion and everything else.

What I've said about the Left-wingers is also equally true for the so-called Antifa who are nothing but a repulsion in the eyes of law and civilized society which abhors and condemns violence unequivocally irrespective of the perpertrators.

The Left-wingers and their ilk on the other hand are living in a La La Land wherein everything they do is holy and if someone who is not on their side does something then it is unholy.

So it's not okay for Morrigan to use "abusive and derogatory language" about Trump but you're exempt from the rule and can say what you like about left-wingers? Personally I don't have a strong opinion on this particular subject of left/right wing politics, but I think you should be following your own rules...

You've got to wonder what kind of environment caused some random dude from India to not only buy-in to US conservative propaganda wholesale, but to feverishly regurgitate and defend it online. Like seriously, this is the most cucked shit this side of Dennis Quaid. Wasn't it just supposed to be liberals who wanted to tend to other people's young?

Unlike Morrigan, I didn't use abusive and derogatory language.

There's a world of difference between expressing something civilly and expressing something in the form of using abusive and derogatory language and I expressed myself civilly and showed the mirror to the Left and their ilk and if someone from their side gets worked up on being shown the truth about them in the mirror, so be it and they deserve it.

I never spoke anything about exemption, its something that you've brought up here on your own.

I criticized the Left-wingers. And if they or for that manner anyone start saying anything bad about me, then, I reserve the right to respond in the manner I feel fit.

When Morrigan or someone starts using abusive and derogatory language against a constitutional authority and a head of state at that, it not only insults the person, but also the office they hold, the people who voted for them and the nation which gave them the mandate to serve the people and that is where the difference between abusing and criticizing and saying civilly and saying, in your words, not mine "what you like", which I didn't lies.

And, yes, I'm following my rules.

Last, but, not the least, thanks, but, no thanks for your unsolicited advice.

First and foremost, let me make one thing crystal clear to you. I didn't use abusive and derogatory language against you.

Two, I don't know you and from what you've said about me today, thank God, I didn't know you before nor would I ever want to know you.

Three, if you don't have anything good to say about me, then please refrain from using abusive and derogatory language against me which I will not tolerate and I'll respond in the manner I deem appropriate.

Four, I've said what I'd wanted to say and you are an eputome of that and if you're hurt by what I said, then, remember, you started it, not me and only you are responsible for that and you deserve it. By doing you, you gave me the invitation to exercise my right to defend myself and respond accordingly.

Last, but, not the least, I couldn't care less about anyone and anything, but, I also won't take anything lying down.

You're defending the GOP and the people who support them; the shit-flinging monkeys of Western politics. They are anything but civil.

Also, bootlicking cunts like you can take your hollow, mock-polite rhetoric and get fucked. You care more about being called mean names than about the people suffering as a result of the direct actions of this pathetic excuse for an administration. And I know this is going to completely fly over your head like the empty sociopath you are and you're just gonna use my comment as yet another example of "the intolerant left", so get fucked again.

You'd your say and I disagree with that and you can shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

The difference between me and you lies in how we respond and that's enough.

As for your name calling and other assumptions, I'm not going to dignify you with any further with a response as I don't need to stoop to your level.

For someone who doesn't care about what we think of him, you do take your sweet time to answer to every single post addressing you.

Yes, I don't care about what anyone says about me, but, that doesn't mean that I take things lying down.

I'm sure in your case you care about what I say and since I'm showing the likes of you the mirror and putting them in their place, you are getting worked up.

See, you haven't said anything relevant to the topic expect for ad hominem and you're an epitome of your ilk.

And, just because you call me names doesn't mean that I'm that. It's the reverse in fact, because in the absence of anything to say, you resort to name calling etc.

Don't insult the word we by thinking of yourself as we.

As for my time and my answers, that's my business alone.

Last, but not the least, same to you.

You're not putting anyone in their place  And you have presented no arguments worth addressing, unless you think your pathetic attempt at a fallacious tone argument is worth anything, which newsflash, it isn't. By defending the current US administration over the people oppressed and destroyed by them, you transparently showcase your status as a reprehensible individual and forfeit your right to any kind of civil discourse. You don't deserve civility, because you yourself aren't civil.

Nobody here is getting worked up over you. It just feels really good to call out bootlicking cunts. As far as I can see, you're the one who started crying and shitting himself because Morrigan used mean words to describe the atrocious people in charge of the USA, and you somehow think you're hiding your tushy tantrum by not using mean words back. It's hilariously obvious how mad you are behind yout thin veneer of "civility".
