Oh, it's definitely at least 60% trolling. Everything he has ever built looks like a pack of cigs swathed in glass.

Looks more like someone switched out the real blueprint with a child's drawing of a robot foot.

Hey guys, if you're into that type of stuff, join skyscrapercity.com, it's a forum like this one, but about skyscrapers. Many people involved in the industry post there as well. And many of them have had dealings with Trump, in Mumbai, in Makati (Manila), in Panama City, and they'll tell you it's one of the most incompetent firms they ever dealt with. That's something you can literally see first hand experience in if you join the right forum, I've been a member there since 2008, I know many of the guys, and it comes with the subject matter that many of them there are into real estate and stuff, same as on a metal forum many people are musicians.

Donald Trump is a reality TV star. He is and always has been a complete failure in real estate. With daddy's money he managed to do a few of the safe moves in real estate: If a place is popular with tourists but hotels have a low vacancy rate, build another hotel there, if you have the money and if you have the connections to know where those places are, you can do it easily, easy money. Nowadays of course everybody can find out about vacancy rates with Google, so everybody who has the money can do it, and still it's not much of a trick if you start with millions of inheritance. Nah, everything but that ultra safe move, Trump failed at. He is not a real estate guy. At all. Trump is a reality TV star, nothing else. Literally nothing else. Join the right forums, ask anyone who ever dealt with his company.

Btw the new Gang Design tower, Vista Tower, is a much cooler addition to the Chicago skyline than Trump Tower, taller by roof height (minus the pole on top), too.

Trump conned his way into making a generation believe that he has insane business savvy simply by sticking his last name onto any building that would let him. As an actual businessman, he's a total fucking failure, propped up solely by his father's successes and the bankability of his own name.

Bloomberg appearing on the debate stage tonight, should be interesting, I dont think it'll work well for him but we'll see. It'll also be interesting to see if the "moderates" try taking down Bernie or go after Bloomberg. If they have any integrity, they'd go after the billionaire trying to buy the primary nomination. My guess is Bernie will be something like

Bloomberg just has too many warts for a debate to do anything but hurt him.

If he were elected, Bloomberg would be at least as dangerous to democracy as Donald Trump.

I agree, but I'm trying to avoid the appearance of hyperbole. Donald Trump's brand of grabasstically disorganized cocktail napkin crypotofascism is much less actually threatening that Bloomberg's fully developed authoritarian neoliberalism, and Donald Trump at least got elected because he went out and appealed to actual voters. If Bloomberg makes it to the White House, it will be because he bought it outright.

Not to mention Bloomberg's attitudes on minorities, working class people, trans people and women make Trump's "tee hee boobs are a sexy and I got more money than u" seem demure or at least harmless and anodyne by comparison. It's unfuckingreal anyone who flipped shit about the "grab her by the pussy comment" is trying to convey Bloomberg literally telling a woman to get an abortion is the lesser evil.

I also think he's worse simply for symbolic reasons. A least now we feel as if we have a fighting chance to make the Democratic party the party for working people. With him, it's RIP to the democratic party and everything they ever stood for. I'm not voting blue no matter who if Bloomberg is the nominee. Time to start a new party at that point.

Another billion won't magically make him not Edgar the Bug's uncle. The reason Bloomberg was doing this well is because until now he stayed out of the spotlight letting the money do the work. He's in the spotlight now and he's failing hard.

Bloomberg is red though. And I wouldn't put it past him to nominate some fiscal libertarian psychopath, who's every bit as dangerous as any religious wingnut.

It's kind of wild how the two candidates for Democrat nomination who sucked the most attention out of the media over the last week or so are both not actually Democrats. The latest case study in how weak the political parties are in this country, on top of the GOP being taken over by a decades-long democrat and Hillary Clinton donor whose brain is chemically disincorporating for all the world to see. Definitely a dearth of smoke-filled rooms in the DNC and RNC (despite their own efforts, of course).

Oh, I'm sure Bloomberg has his ardent supporters, but I definitely don't think they're a majority of the people turning out for him. His "supporters" seem to be the type that are ruminating over electability more than policy, and are freaked out of a self-ascribed democratic socialist running against Trump. Yesterday proved Bloomberg would crumble under Trump like all the establishment Republicans did during the GOP debates. The electability argument doesn't hold anymore.

That being said, I do understand the worry about Bernie's chances in the general, albeit I think now's the best chance the country has to put him into office. On one hand, my gut instinct is that the GOP's strategy to call anyone left of them a "socialist" has backfired and watered down the gravity of the term, to the point that a real democratic socialist can run without being largely affected by fear mongering. On the other hand, I look at what happened in the Jeremy Corbyn vs Boris election and 1972 presidential election, and I get rather worried. Sure, Nixon didn't have the low favorability back then that Trump has currently, but McGovern did lose in a massive way because he was perceived as "too radical". Jeremy Corbyn lost for similar reasons. I know two elections is basically anecdotal, but because of this I sort of understand why establishment dems feel like Trump will easily win against Bernie. For me personally, that's the sort of election I want, one that asks the American people "are we going left or right?" Anything else is just pandering bullshit that tries to find a "center" in a country that hardly has one. If Trump wins against Bernie, I know where this country stands more than if Trump beats some milquetoast status-quo candidate.

Note: I am not defending Bloomberg and I think he's a disgusting pig, a racist, a classist, a homophobe/transphobe, and an all-around scumbag.

That said:

Because Bloomberg is unlikely to appoint a SCOTUS judge that would try to overturn Roe V. Wade.

Both comments are misogynistic as hell, and both men are guilty of depraved behaviour towards women, in about equal capacity. But a Trump presidency is overall more harmful to women, because his party is actually attacking and eroding women's reproductive rights.

Moreover, Bloomberg is a bit more sane than Trump when it comes to climate change and gun control, as well. But SCOTUS is the biggest factor here. RGB is unlikely to last. Maybe Bloomberg would appoint a centrist/libertarian POS, but I doubt he'd go that far (he'd likely pick a moderate), and that shit lasts decades longer than the actual presidency.

I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that because Bloomberg is really that fucking terrible in ways that no semi-recent Democrat politician has ever been (not to mention he's a DINO) and for the precedent it would set of having a billionaire literally buying his way into the Dem nomination/presidency, but if it's him vs. Trump, you get to choose between:
- a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, arrogant billionaire with 1 or 2 more conservative judges on SCOTUS for the next 2-3 decades or so, zero chance of climate change action, and zero chance of gun control action
or
- a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, arrogant billionaire, but you may save SCOTUS, you have a small chance of climate change action, and a small chance of gun control action

Still gotta vote for the inanimate carbon rod, sorry.

Man, Liz Warren absolutely murdered Bloomberg last night. I loved it.

One thing that I worry about a lot is this whole "electability" argument. It seems that the dems are too obsessed with watching CNN or MSNBC and now they think and speak in pundit brain. It's so ridiculous and embarrassing. The news networks are now the same as sports networks - just sub Stephen A. Smith for Chris Cuomo.

I am absolutely baffled by all the polls that show dems saying all they care about is "beating Trump" and, when asked if a candidate needs to share the same values of the voter, most say "no". It's a stunning sign of ignorance.

Maybe instead of discussing who is "electable," we should be discussing the issues... What Trump has done, what we want and how we find common ground to create the people's will around a candidate who meets those things. To me, that seems to be how we find an "electable" candidate.

And truthfully, that is why Bernie is surging and the rest can't seem to figure it out. Pete and Amy have no real plans or ideas and just preach centrism and rallying around them to beat Trump. Biden's campaign is essentially "well, you liked Obama, right?" Bloomberg just preaches the same general "billionaire businessman" ideas as Trump. Bernie (and Warren) are actually talking to the people about things that matter - and everyone from the party and the media act like they're the crazy ones.

If "electability" is the only thing that people want, you are giving Trump four more years because no one is going to win an election by just saying "I am the one who can beat Trump."

It’ll all blow up in Trump’s face when the recession finally hits around summer. At that point, a piece of burnt toast could beat him because it takes away his strongest argument for re-election. All indicators are pointing to one happening, it’s just a question of when exactly this year.

I don't disagree. He's really almost as bad as Trump, at least as far as his bigotry goes. He's not as stupid, which makes him dangerous, too (but hey at least he might not start WW3 over a tweet, I guess?).

The fact that SCOTUS is so horribly partisan and dependent who on the president is at the moment is a tragic flaw of the US in general, though. Judges should not fucking be partisan, but here we are.

On the other hand, maybe more inclined to start WW3 over something other than a tweet. Trump is "capital," but with the mindset of a mobster, and a mobster's fundamental uncertainty of the limits of his own strength. Hence the bluster, but he never actually seems to pick a real fight with anyone or anything that can fight back. Bloomberg is capital, and finance capital at that. Basically, as a class, the biggest war mongers the world has ever known.

Ugh, yes. The structural and institutional design of the American political system is and always has been fundamentally about protecting property relations. The courts were constructed with that in mind, and like everything else in American politics, they were meant to default to conservatism. I don't know how we get out of that trap within the parameters of the system as it exists, but I am intensely aware of how important the courts are. The future of SCOTUS feels like a borderline existential issue for me.

Man, Liz Warren absolutely murdered Bloomberg last night. I loved it.

It was great. Watching that slimy toad squirm when she brought up his misogyny gave me life.

It was truly glorious, and the first moment where I've found myself actually liking Sen Warren just a little.

People need to balance stripping bodily autonomy from women against ratcheting up the drug war from an 11 to a 17 and in the most explicitly racist way possible. Back alley abortions vs. military occupations of minority neighborhoods, and the latter under Bloomberg would be more likely than the former under Trump because Democratic presidents very easily pass through conservative legislation, while Trump, even with his Trumped up Supreme Court would have an explicit culture war on his hands and would set the stage for Democratic Supreme Court packing after he left.

Perhaps worst of all, after Bloomberg we would never have a non-Billionaire president ever again. And if Bloomberg is on the left, who the fuck will be his inevitable right-wing successor? Can anyone say President Sheldon Adelson?

It's also important to remember Bloomberg is not running a Stop Trump campaign, regardless of appearances; he was a longtime friend of Trump and seems to agree with most of his stances. He's running a Stop Sanders/Warren campaign.

He's also not anti-gun, as he ran the most armed police force in the country. Taking people's guns away is fine but it needs to be a MUTUAL disarmament, something that power pornographers like Bloomberg would never, ever allow.
