I don't know, riots don't usually end with tens of thousands of people being slaughtered in massacres, summary executions, and wars. Well, there was that one riot (Unite the Dumbass rally) that did lead to violence and to the death of one innocent girl.

And for "some" reason, many accomplishments of the Proud Boys have had little coverage. They've attacked people multiple times now, there's one vid in particular that's sickening as they gang up on people who are already hurt and fleeing, suckerpunching them again and again.

Senseless insults aside, before the Bastille thing, the very first act of insubordination towards the monarchy lead by the mob (basically a riot) was in a small town factory where it was said that the owner would lower the wages of all workers to be able to sell in lower prices as well. There were pacific protests for around 3 days but the nobility sent troops to get them out of the streets, using violence. People fought back and teared down the factory, as well as the house of the factory's owner. I don't remember how many people died, but probably a couple of dozen.

France was at war and people was already in a precarious state, with massive shortage of supplies, which were sent to the lines and left people totally on their own. Starvation, violence and the fact that the nobility kept their ridiculous luxury style while charging more taxes on the poorer(giving people rotten food while at the same time wild parties on the Versailles palace were done) led to massive riots and civil war, including the taking of the Bastille, which ended with public executions and a new carta magna.

The internet is useful when it's well used, in case you didn't have proper history lessons.

America doesn't need to be tear down entirely but I believe politicians need to be punished in an exemplary way and laws must ensure that they will get their shit together and do the job they're supposed to do. I mean, people just CAN'T just watch how those motherfuckers do as their please and citizens suffer. You just can't be that dumb.

I have a friend who's been attending counter protests the last few times the Proud Boys showed up in DC (in November and December). Apparently in November, they've stabbed 3 people. In December, they got 1 and 4 of them got shanked back in self defense. Whatever they want to do, I can guarantee the response will be "Fuck around, find out".

Trump went on a recorded call with the Georgia Secretary of State, the guy responsible for overseeing election stuff in the state, and essentially is trying to force him to "find" 11,780 votes for him in GA in an attempt to overturn the election results and give himself a path to staying in office. The SoS straight up told him he's wrong on the call, and the full audio got posted this afternoon by the Washington Post.

No one says anything for that first ten minutes. They just let him spout and repeat over and over every conspiracy theory he’s read on Twitter.

I’m at the 38 minute mark of this and it’s terrible listening to Trump berate and belittle this guy over and over while the guy just sits there and takes it. Over and over. What a nasty, bully piece of shit.

There's also a point where he's railing against the influx of Biden votes thanks to provisional ballots, specifically mentioning military ballots that were, according to him, 100% for Biden despite the military being, also according to him, mostly voting in favor of him, and the people on the call are dead silent for a good 5 or 6 seconds afterwards. The one woman on the call tries to interject, and Trump tells her to shut the fuck up without actually saying the words "shut the fuck up".

I think it's a combination of the tendency for conservative women to line up behind their oppressors without fail, and the fact that Republican politicians nationwide are currently having to come to grips with the fact that the party base is now completely overtaken by the Trump cult, and the ones that aren't also total cultists (yet) need to evaluate how best to appeal to that base while still trying to maintain some degree of loyalty to the conservative ideologies they supposedly believe in. When that strategy ultimately falls apart, as it is destined to do, then they go all in on the Trumpism fascist stuff and start calling for immigrants to be killed or something to that degree.

Trump is now suing the GA Secretary of State over that phone call audio that leaked. Don't expect him to get far with it, as Georgia law states that only one party needs to consent in order to record a phone call.

A part of me can't imagine why Joe Manchin would want to join the Republicans when he stands as a linchpin within the Democratic Party, and he knows it. It's a fair rumour. The Republicans desperately want him, but under the Republican Party he knows he'd be an untrusted lackey. In the Democratic Party, he plays a key role in developing policy, because the Dems don't want to risk losing him, and so he has a higher stake in that party because he can actually shift party policy.

Toomey gets appointed in a Biden cabinet since he’s retiring and wouldn’t want to be a part of a minority caucus . PA Governor gets to pick a Democrat. 51-49, or 50-50 if Manchin did decide to flip. Fuck him anyway.

Now NYT has upgraded their estimates to "very likely" for Warnock and "pretty likely" for Ossoff. Warnock in particular gave a speech that came just close to outright declaring victory, although his race was the one the majority of people expected to go in his favor anyway.

This is a great time to remind everybody that the now likely Senate Dem majority was not, in fact, made possible by the national DNC doing anything differently than they had before to inspire people to vote for their candidates. The Dem majority that will very likely become reality was made possible by two things: Stacey Abrams and her ultra-aggressive, on-foot, door to door campaigning in favor of Warnock and Ossoff in Georgia (which is, you know, the way Democrats used to campaign before they got complacent and started just attempting to brow beat their supporters into submission), and Donald Trump buttfucking Mitch McConnell on the relief bill out of spite for McConnell not going along with his attempts to overthrow the election. If/when the results come out with two blue victories, Stacey Abrams needs to be made DNC chairwoman ASAP.

I could go for Stacey or Jamie Harrison as DNC Chair. Both know how to mobilize voters. It’s more probable that Stacey takes another shot at being Governor in 2022 and even wins this time.

If Manchin wanted to switch parties he'd have done it when he was staring down the barrel of the toughest election fight of his life in a state that had become dramatically more Republican over the course of his career. Not now that he's safe for another few years (if he even decides to run again-- he'll be 77 when votes are cast in 2024 and he's been fed up with the Senate for years) and his party is poised to take the majority. The DC rumor mill is gonna do its thing but I have seen no credible evidence or accounts from anybody close to him that he's thinking of crossing the aisle.
