I'm pretty excited for Jimmy Eat World. These guys have truly not made a bad album since 1996.

I'm not the biggest fan of the full records from Jimmy Eat World, but every single one has at least 2-3 songs that I end up revisiting for YEARS and years. Coffee and Cigarettes is one of my favourite songs of its genre ever. I didn't know they had a new one, and I will absolutely be checking it out.

See, I'm the opposite. While their last flawless album was Futures in 2004, every album since has been 80-90% excellent, with maybe only one or two less worthy songs per album (e.g. "Feeling Lucky", "Here It Goes", "Cut", "Byebyelove", "Pretty Grids", "Through").

All of the post-Futures albums also have multiple contenders for best Jimmy song ever (e.g. "Big Casino", "Always Be", "Chase This Light", "Evidence", "Movielike", "Mixtape", "Appreciation", "I Will Steal You Back", "No, Never", "Sure And Certain", "Get Right", just to name a few). Damage is basically the best divorce/breakup album aimed at late 30s/early 40s listeners ever made.

Clarity, Bleed American, and Futures are flawless, bulletproof, unassailable albums.

I saw them live last year and they played 25 songs over two hours, and it was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. This band brings it live.

Surviving releases 10/18 (same day as You Deserve Love by WHITE REAPER(!)).

Didn't know we had undercover Jimmy Eat World fans. Loved the band since I first heard Bleed American in 2001. I'm with Dan in the Clarity / Bleed / Futures trilogy being their peak. Since then the albums have been good but not touching the heights of their golden era. Still plenty of good songs to go through, and I'll be looking forward to more of what they put out.

That Blink album we talked about earlier in this thread turned out to be damn good, very much surprisingly so.

I thought it was quite good, certainly better than California. I wasn't too enamoured with the singles beforehand, but I find myself listening to "Darkside" and "I Really Wish I Hated You" on a near daily basis. "Pin the Grenade" is boss as well.

I'd completely forgot Jimmy Eat World had a new album coming out. Can't say I know their catalogue as much as some here, but I've always enjoyed giving their albums a spin every now and then. Bleed American came out a year or two after I seriously started getting into music, and the title track, "Sweetness" and "The Middle" got a lot of screen time on TV here, so those songs are embedded in memories of my youth.

I remember seeing the video for "Always Be" not long after it came out, and it's become a staple of my listening habits ever since. I bought Chase This Light dirt cheap, purely for this song. It's great all the way through. "Dizzy" is an amazing track (there's a guitar riff/melody near the end that is constantly getting stuck in my head). "The End Is Beautiful" and "Coffee and Cigarettes" (already mentioned) are two other songs that I play a lot.

I'm planning to really dig into their discography in the near future, and the new album will be part of those plans.

“Blame It On My Youth” was just not a good opening salvo, and still is the only song I don’t care for.

The unfortunately titled “On Some Emo Shit” is a highlight for sure.

Absolutely miles better than California
