Anyone else watching it or keeping track of the results? Any favorite teams?

Sadly, almost all the matches happen too early in the morning for me, but I've been keeping track of the match highlights. Some great games so far. Sadly my favorite team, Argentina, lost their first match... but I'm not particularly surprised that it was against France. It was a close game, though!

Canada opens the tournament on Thursday against Italy, which will probably be our most important match. We should handle Namibia, then get our arses slapped by New Zealand and South Africa. So Canada-Italy will likely be the decider of third place, and and finishing third in group, though it doesn’t get you into the quarterfinals, does mean an automatic qualification for the next World Cup in 2023.
And a big lol at host Japan worrying that they might run out of beer

I first watched rugby two world cups ago. Really liked it. I will try to catch some games - at least in the final tournament stages. But yeah, most games seem to be played around noon my time so I won't catch many of them live. I don't mind watching them later on in the evening though.

Well the Italians slapped Canada silly. Looks like we’ll have to qualify the hard way again in four years. Let’s just hope to beat Namibia and not finish last.

Canada have been playing rugby for as long as I can remember, surprised they haven't really improved along with teams like Romania, Georgia and even Italy.

Can't see beyond New Zealand and not sure if I can even see anyone threatening them. England and Wales look decent but a level below.

Things changed very quickly. Hope the English beat the South Africans.

Indeed. Feels like a repeat of 2007, though.

Waiguoren hasn't been this happy since Mandela was imprisoned.

NB: I really don't care about rugby, I just want to say "hi" to Pik.
