It used to be maintained through manual paper entries in a giant notebook held in a secret location, passed around at shows.

I'd consider my self a O.G. of MA personlly. Whereas cats like Empyreal could be considered as a triple ace O.G.

Well, I remember the 1969 version of this site was hosted on a mainframe computer the size of a small warehouse. That mainframe had a .24 megahertz single processor and used punch cards and large reel-to-reel tapes for data storage. Output was text-only with block letters an inch high. Since home computers were so rare, only a handful of companies with mainframe computers could even access the site, and most of their IT departments blocked it anyway and said that MA was a "porn site." (my own company still does so.) The mainframe that hosted the original MA had 2 kilobytes of memory and nearly 100 kilobytes of data storage, which was more than enough to store the entire M-A database, such as it was, back then. Remember, in 1969, the M-A database consisted of exactly one band....

Someone at ARPAnet created heavy metal, so they decided to invent the internet to celebrate. However since there were only five computers connected to it and everyone else was listening to Motown and Yé-yé music, he decided to let the website rot for the next 30 years until some mallcore goffs rediscovered it for their middle school projects.

And as we all know, that band was the Beatles.
"Look out, it's Helter Skelter, baby!!" ~actual original quote from the first MA page, now lost to time.
After all, heavy metal peaked with Revolver and by Led Zeppelin II and Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls, the scene was nothing but mall-dwelling poseurs.

Frequent virgin sacrifices and copious consumption of goats blood.

Ozzy Osbourne himself took a diarrhetic shit in a public toilet in Birmingham in 1969 and metalheads materialized out of the ground and flocked to the site of the shitting and they would write on the walls about heavy metal from that day on. When Al Gore focused his thought waves together and created the internet, all the writings over the past decades were copied and typed out here by an underground association.

If you're older than Sabbath's first album, then you're really old.
