I think a lot of it also has to do with a lot of mail from Poland going through Germany and the restrictions at the German-Polish border.

Received a CD today from a Discogs order back in March. I guess that's something?

UK to Sweden works very well. Same as pre-corona. Not surprised for the swedish part since we never had a lock down or alike. Was a little bit worried about the UK part but they shipped it really fast.

Surprisingly, a CD from Poland to USA only took 10 days from order to receiving for me. That's faster than I've gotten some mail from just a few states over.

My latest order from Napalm Records just arrived. Took less than a month, so I’m happy with that... but they sent me The Skull when I ordered Psalm 9. Can’t blame that on the covid!

I've probably picked the wrong time to do this, but I'm currently 'racing' three orders against each other;

CDs from Napalm Records (Austrian state post)
CDs & Vinyl from Northern Silence Records (DPD)
Some CDs / magazines from Cult Never Dies (Royal Mail)

So far, the Austrians are in the lead, and will likely beat even the UK distro

Surprisingly enough, I've received every order I made. One Nile album with registered tracking was at the post office for 35 days without movement until it finally arrived though.

...and the winner is, Northern Silence of Germany (cheers, clapping, champagne). No mucking around with fancy online trackers, just a jiffy bag filled with heavy cardboard and CDs (and some pretty nice flyers)

The UK distro order is stuck somewhere in a depot, and I can track that fact, which is.... exciting ?

I do most of my ordering from Japan (for a multitude of reasons) and things were going great until around November of last year until EMS got suspended indefinitely. So registered surface mail it is for the unforeseeable future. Fortunately my first package arrived in under 2 months, but I may've got lucky (its normally 2-3 months). I have 4 more packages (about 14 CDs each) I'm expecting, so I'm at least comfortable that they'll all show up eventually. A good deal of these CDs I used to own, so I'm not in a huge panic...

I guess I should be grateful for all the orders that reached me in a timely manner last year (bar the one that was stuck in customs for nearly 2 months ). I've heard nothing but horror stories from other people.

There's a bunch of stuff I need to order from Europe, but that can wait until the pandemic is over.

I sent an email to Rising Nemesis Records regarding an order that hadn't arrived from September. He got back to me straight away saying it's likely somewhere between Germany and Australia but the tracking number has since expired so he doesn't know. We went back and forth and he said the terrible shipping times since covid began is starting to kill his business. I felt really bad and told him I'd buy the digital copy of the album I purchased. He was really grateful.

Discovered that my order from Bravado.de for the new Epica album & some other stuff was not infact stuck in a COVID / Brexit vortex; they had just gotten stuck on the format of my home address and the process couldn't move on.

Sent them an email, they replied in about hours with the problem, sent them the solution, and things are fixed & my package is on the way. God I love dealing with Germans. That would've taken a week of arguing in my country

Is it me or are shipping prices even more insane than usual? Tried to make an order from both Iron Bonehead Records and Van Records and the shipping was insane. Ordering a CD from Van Records was more expensive than the actual record. A bit cheaper on Iron Bonehead but still 8€ for a 13€ album is a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if most places are shipping via courier or tracked/priority packets at the very least. Too many packages are getting lost/delayed and buyers are more prone to opening paypal claims. I really should stop reading Discogs' forum - just exacerbates my paranoia. I do think I made the right decision to quit selling CDs until the pandemic is over though. I probably should've taken a break from buying them too, but fuck that!

5/5 for tracked surface mail over the Pacific now. I'm glad I took that route instead of the morbidly overpriced DHL. A 2-3 month wait isn't the end of the world. Good thing I'm confident with this method now, since I have 6 large orders in transit (and counting).

I'm finally down to waiting for just two orders (both from Russia). That's the best it's been in, what, 14 months!

Shipping to Chile was really bad during the second quarter of 2020 . Two weeks ago I got CDs I had ordered in April 2020! Things have been smooth this year though, everything has showed up in a month or so.

Oh lovely, Japan Post suspended all surface mail to Canada. I guess I'll have to either stop ordering (lol) or use DHL (ick). I have about 20 CDs marooned over there with a month left in storage.
