Any big time Stones fans here?

https://pitchfork.com/news/the-rolling- ... ies-at-80/

I never truly got deep into them (maybe due to their vast and deep catalog), but like most rock fans, I dig the hits. One of the biggest bands the world had ever seen.

The Stones were my first rock band t-shirt ever. I had quite a collection of their albums on vinyl, don't have them anymore and don't know what happened to them.

The only full albums I have are Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St and both are very good - RIP.

Sad news and a bit of a shock. My parents are big 'Stones fans and I remember them talking about him skipping out on their latest tour due to health reasons. RIP

You cannot be a fan of metal and not have at least an appreciation for the Stones. The band was massively influential on metal, especially NWOBHM and stuff elsewhere in the 70s and 80s. I'm not a huge fan, but they had some absolute bangers in their day. I still haven't heard anything similar to Paint it Black or Under My Thumb. RIP Charlie.

Aye. I got DEEP into the band, though I do have a cut-off point, but this is not the time to get into details. But yeah, at some point I knew all about the different edits appearing on various CD versions of Got Live If You Want It, that's how far my obsession with the band went.

Warmest advice to everyone here to look deeper into the Stones beyond just the hits (which are, admittedly awesome as well).

R.I.P, Charlie.

Never figured he would be the first of the four core survivors* to go.

*Meaning: Mick, Keith, Charlie and Bill. Brian Jones died in 1969 and Ian Stewart, not officially a member, but still a de facto member in every other way, died in 1985.

Now for a higher level song like Moth Into Flame. I specifically remember getting in trouble at school for hearing this the day it was released for having my phone out and then defiantly saying to my teacher Fuck off Im listening to a new Metallica song

While I don’t listen to the Stones lately, they were a go-to band of mine along with Nirvana when I was starting to get into rock music. R.I.P. :(
