Alright guys, I have a bit of an issue that I'm hoping you can help me with.

I have a video iPod and I want to put some movies on it, basically. I was trying to find a way to rip Death Wish 3 onto my laptop, but I don't know how. The file will only execute when the D drive is double-clicked and if I get into the file folders, there's no executable for me to rip or anything.

Also iTunes doesn't really give me a way to rip into their either. How do you rip a DVD onto a laptop? Do I need a special program?

Try a program like CloneDvd > http://clonedvd.en.softonic.com/

CloneDVD is a piece of shit. I had to instal a CSS decoding program to get it to recognize the files, but all three DVDs I try to get it to read it came up with some bullshit error message like "the disc is dirty" or "cannot read this file location" even though the DVD files were plainly listed in the window on the right.

Strange. I have never had a problem with it, then again I have only used it 6 of 7 times max.

A have an annoying problem.
I get these "clicks" whenever I play music on my pc, directly from my sound box (I have no idea how to name them in english).
I have a lot of music imported from cd's and some downloaded stuff. Both of them "clic", but it looks like it's expanding, more and more of cd's do it then in the beginning.
yet it does not click when I watch a movie or something like that, only music.

Does anyone know why it clicks and off course more important how to solve it.

BTW: I have 2 sets of box's (?) both click....

I had a problem when I tried to watch the Lost DVDs on my computer. I got some message about how my dvd drive is incompatible with the copyright protection of the DVD or something. It didn't pose much of a problem at the time because my friend has a DVD player in his room, but this could eventually be problematic somewhere down the line.
I'll try it again later and get the exact message but I was wondering if this was familiar to anyone and if they knew a way around it.

I've got a Dell Latitude D820.

It's more or less against the rules. And it's not very hard to find serials/cracks for XP yourself if that's what you're after.

When you're saying 'box' what exactly do you mean? CD/DVD drive? If so, what about downloaded music or music on an arbitrary myspace site?

No just the 2 sound box' on the side of the screen.
Some cd's play just fine while others are "infested" with clicks.

It sounds like a weird problem. Obviously there's no problems with the sound boxes/speaker since some CDs work fine.

Try this : Save the "clicking CD" music on your Desktop, and play it. Does it still click?

Are you playing CD's or have you downloaded the music? If you have a CD, try playing it in a CD player. If not, burn the music on a CD and then use a CD player.

Do you have the opportunity to use different drives? Perhaps the drive has some problems in reading the CD; this happens to me with CD-Rs sometimes.

This depends on various variables:
[1]the time that has passed since the partition was formated
[2]how much this new partition had been used
[3]how the original partition had been formated (If everthing had been overwritten with zeros)

You might have some luck in finding some bits here and some there, but the chances are not good. Search professional help in a hardware forum. This forum here is the wrong place. Perhaps you shoudl try to contact the manufacturer of your harddisk as well.

The cd's in question are allready some time on my pc. I save the album on my computer so that I do not have to switch between the original cd's.
I have tried to delete the album and put it on again, but it did not work.

I have no working radio were I can check of the cd's work normally

Placing the one of the cd's on the desktop does not help.

My laptops processor seems to be running a bit hot.

Its a dual core AMD turion TL-60 and PC wizard has it at 50 - 55 degrees Celsius.

Is this normal?

Edit: This was at idle i imagine it gets hotter under heavy usage.

Also it has been suffering from "unexpected shutdowns" lately, i put this down to Vista being rubbish but know I'm not so sure.

Yeah that is a little warm. Mid 40s is the norm. The higher temperature could be a result of intense use though, or simply just age.

The random shutdowns can be attributed to overheating or a power issue.

there is not much you can do with the heat, when you deal with a laptop. Here would be some solutions (to give you an idea):
http://www.bizrate.com/laptopaccessorie ... oling.html

You need something to move the heat from your laptop... what would fir your purpose best, is something you have to figure out...

I don't think its age its less then 6 months old. Sounds like there isn't any easy fix i guess I'll take it back and get them to look at it. Cheers

My computer seems to lose time oddly, over the course of a week or so it will slowly build up to running about half an hour behind, anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? It's no big problem I just reset the time every so often, it's just seems very odd and I can't imagine what would cause this.

Since time is kept by your motherboard, your BIOS battery could be running low.

The CMOS is where the BIOS and system settings are stored.

Hey guys, this is a big problem

I can't get onto MA on many computers without using some gay proxy site. I thought I was banned at first, but seeing that I can still log on, it looks like I'm not. What could be the problem? What the hell has happened to the site? I looked at the main page for answers, but didn't get any. PLEASE HELP, I'm tired of seeing those fucking gay One Republic ads at the bottom of the screen.

One idea would be to use Wireshark and to see what happens with the cookies.
http://www.wireshark.org/
It helps you to analyze the traffic you have.

install it, launch it and visit the Metal Archives without using a proxy ... and then examine the entries. This should give you a clue, what happens.

It is simply a tool to get an idea what is happening. It is not somehting that could solve the problem. You have to understand what is happening, before you are able to overcome 'the error'.

Edit: Hey, I added you to try to get you to help me with this problem, because this wireshark program is really confusing me.

Well... it is quite professional that is right... but that are all tools that help you to analyze aspects on a computer.

First you click on the button on the very left side and then a window pops up. Click on 'capture' of the modem you want to use.

and then visit a site...

I still don't know what to do with what it's giving me. I think I should just give up :P

Edit: Urg no matter what I do I can't figure out the fucking problem. Some people on my contact list said the site works alright for them, but it's not fucking working for me unless I go on proxies that put a million ads. I am so fucking mad!

Perhaps you IP was banned and that is why you cannot log on. Maybe Nightgaunt knows more. You should send him your IP or IPs if you use more PCs and ask him if these are blocked...

Believe me... Wireshark is not that difficult. It traces very neatly the traffic and helps you to figure out where an error might be. You get a list with information and colours and can figure out where the error is; with the legend that you have. All you do is to start a capturing on your network-card and then to surf to this one site only... you will get a list with a lot of entries and colours and this helps you to anaylze what is happening and why you are unable to get to the site... or to get a clue.

I used several computers and this has happened, it's not just mine. And I think that if they banned my IP, they would've banned my account too, which is clearly not banned.

I just have no clue what all the colours and messages mean. It's so confusing. It may not be difficult for you because you know how to use it, but it sure as hell is for me. :(

If an IP is blocked then it is not just one PC. Arcor, a German provider, blocked Youporn last year, after a court decision, and a lot of other sites were blocked, too.

these are the possible colours:

You run a test and see what combinations appear and the you see the documentation what you can do. Or you use google... or whatever.

I didn't see any red or black stuff... just some pink and blue. Even so, I have no idea what these colours mean.

What you can do is to send me a file for Wireshark. I can analyze it in my program here. I have never done this before, but I think that it would be better than to talk without having any information at all. Run a test and then stop the capturing and save a file; I hope this works.

But you should send Nightgaunt the IPs and ask him if these are blacklisted; I think that this will solve the problem.

Okay, I'll send it via email
