Yeah, I'd always heard that they didn't want to use certain characters, especially the Penguin, because they wouldn't fit in with the style they've been using in the last two films. I've never heard anything about not wanting to use characters used in previous films.

They've definitely stated it before The Dark Knight was planned, at least.

What they think on the matter presently though is unknown as far as I know.

Harvey Dent "Two-Face", not as much. It is difficult to understand what they want to do after this film because of their contradictions from past statements.

Shit I just hope Christopher Nolan sticks with his "No Robin" statement. Fuck, the Robin character would definantly ruin the stmosphere.

Oh yes of course. I know that they've said they won't introduce Robin even after TDK. Their plans are to stick to the very earliest years of Batman and that would not include Robin or any other sidekick characters.

Maybe after I see it, it will stop. However I don't think so. Somehow.

Batman rules. He deserves his own thread.

Anyway, since I haven't seen TDK yet, I didn't remember they introduced Two-Face (not only Harvey Dent) as well. I don't know, perhaps contradictory statements are to blame.

Tell you the truth, I don't mind which enemy they introduce in a possible next movie (all Batman villains can be made extremely dark and disturbing in their own right; The Penguin could be exploited by his finesse "gentleman of crime" persona, instead of the reject he was in Burton's vision; in fact, I think his deformities and such could be omitted in favor of a more Godfather-like personality and role, I think that'd be quite interesting), as long as they don't introduce lame sidekicks, it's all right.

Yes, Cobblepot was never a deformed freak like presented in the previous film. He's always been really suave and sophisticated. It is definitely doable.

I still haven't seen the first one, but people said it was crap. So, if your into a good cartoon laugh and cannot find it on the new post 2000 Simpson episode or Family Guy, then get this movie.

I'd give it a 4/5

EDIT: David Cross is also in it, so that makes it more awesome.

You talking about Beast With A Billion Backs or whatever it's called? I want to see it, too. The first one was okay, but I think the Simpsons Movie was better.

Yeah A Beast with a Billion Backs is pretty hilarious. I had a lot of laughs. Zap is still awesome as usual. Futurama movies seems more fitting when it comes to movie plots rather than Simpsons. Although, my opinion on the Simpsons movie seemed to move from terrible to the ok side now that I've seen it at least 5 times.

Some of the Futurama storylines are incredible. Bender's Big Score was no exception, but for what they had with the plot, they lacked wit the humour in a lot of areas. That was a real shame because there was a lot of gold to be had. And I'm glad that Zapp has a bigger role in the second movie (I'm assuming)...there was not nearly enough of him in the first!

I really disliked the first Futurama movie, it had like ten good jokes in it. Plus, I didn't like the storyline all that much, time travel stuff annoys me, there's just something inherently frustrating about it. The second one is hilarious though, and yeah, the presence of David Cross is a bonus.

After enjoying The Dark Knight so much, I checked out Batman Begins again, still think it's pretty shit 4/10. The storyline isn't quite as retarded as I remembered, but a lot of the dialogue didn't go down well with me, because of all the little sentimental or cheesy lines, really seemed weak in that regard. Not to mention it's still boring as all hell.

All I know was that the first one was on T.V in episode form about a month ago.

Agree that it needs more Zapp, EVERYTHING needs more Zapp.

Yeah, I saw the movie before it was on TV. Who would want to watch it on TV, though? It was annoyingly split in 30 minute segments.

And you're right, more Zapp is mandatory: "Here is my personal book of pick-up lines. Say as many as you can, as fast as you can. Don't stop for any reason."

And: "Death...by snoo-snoo!"
Kif: *gasp*
Zapp: What are you, gay?

"Brannigan's law is like Brannigan's love: hard and fast!"

(checking out Leela) "Uh-huh, yep, okay, yeah, that was whatever you were talking about for you."

Easily the best Futurama character. Second place belongs to Zoidberg.

QFT. Zap is full of memorable quotes

Zapp Brannigan: Men, you're lucky men. Soon you'll all be fighting for your planet. Many of you will be dying for your planet. A few of you will be forced through a fine mesh screen for your planet. They will be the luckiest of all.

Leela: You know Zap, someone outa teach you some lesson.
Zap: If its a lesson in love watch out, I suffer from a very sexy learning disability. What do I call it Kif?
Kif: *sigh* Sexlexia

*Leela opens the door*
Zap: Leela, I don't know where else to turn... your the only one that ever loved me.
Leela: I never loved you!
Zap: No, I mean physically!

Kif: That's mighty noble of you captain, going down with the ship
Zapp: No that's noble of YOU Kif! You've been promoted!

So, I just watched the Machinist, it was good, and very enjoyable, and what CB did with his body is just amazing, but it was extremely predictable. The twist is obvious, poorly implemented, and has been done far too many times.

yes. good movie, nothing special (script-wise). 7/10.

in cold blood 8/10. very good. based on capote's book. b&w camera fits the idea (an idea explored to great length, we can call it a study of murder) of in cold blood murder.

Not at all, but that's because I lose my tolerance for films of a style much faster than others (for instance I was fed up with the epic battle films by Troy), I guess I've had enough with super hero movies. Could also be down to me knowing nothing of the comic.

Looking forward to Tropic Thunder though, not much else thats coming out though.

Well yeah but Watchmen isn't just a superhero movie. The comic was pretty layered and heavy stuff, so all we can hope for is the movie to be the same.

I know nothing of the comic, so I guess it could be different, but for now I'm sticking with "meh"

Tropic Thunder looks awesome. MTV had a promo for it which was actually pretty funny: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VBNVJG15tGs

Anyone else excited for Pineapple Express? I'm a sucker for Seth Rogen and any movie revolving around getting high.

What, of course it's a superhero movie. It's not the same sort of superhero movie that Iron Man is of course but Evil Dead isn't the same sort of horror movie that Friday the Thirteenth is either.

I know it's a superhero movie, of course it is, but it's also a very intelligent and dark drama all the same. I couldn't say the same for Iron Man, or the Spiderman series, or whatever else. I just meant that even someone who is tired of comic book-to-movie adaptations might still find something of worth in Watchmen - if it is done in the same manner that the graphic novel was.

I'd rage if Frank Miller touched the latest Batman film series. No thanks.

Altough he kill the concept of Batman when he make The Return of The Dark Knight, I think his works in the big screen are pretty decent

I thought the dark knight was good, but do any of you guys think it was over hyped and people were think that it should win the Oscar.

One thing that i did not like about it was that Batman was not always the focal point of the movie Harvey dent was.I also think Heath ledgers performance was good and he played I think the best joker in all the Batman series. But he should not get the Oscar for what he did.It seem people are saying this because he died.It like Dimebag-effect just cause he died everyone was parsing him.

I hope to see it again on DVD.

Anyway I hope I see the watchmen but I have a feeling that it might not be that great either.

No, he definitely deserves the award. I don't care if he died or not.

I'd rage if Frank Miller touched the latest Batman film series. No thanks.

How could this NOT work as a film?

I've read about it. Ridiculous and stupid, not a film I'd want to see either.

I'm actually glad that Batman was not the focal point of the movie, as the characters around him had an equal or bigger role.

I was also skeptical as to whether they were justified in saying that Heath Ledger should get a posthumous Oscar. I thought they were saying it just because he had died, but I now believe that he really deserves it. He really warped the character into an evil maniac, which was a good tweak. I hope he does win an Oscar.

It definitely wasn't overhyped, in my opinion. I felt that movie backed up every bit of praise it received before it was released. There was not one point in the film where I felt I was waiting for the next big thing to happen; I was captivated the entire time. It's not the best movie ever, but it's damn good and by far the best new movie I've seen in quite some time.
