It definitely wasn't overhyped, in my opinion. I felt that movie backed up every bit of praise it received before it was released. There was not one point in the film where I felt I was waiting for the next big thing to happen; I was captivated the entire time. It's not the best movie ever, but it's damn good and by far the best new movie I've seen in quite some time.

As someone else mentioned, they didn't glorify Heath's death during the lead-up to the movie, or using it as a way of enticing people to see it. At least, that was the way I perceived it.

Yeah, there wasn't any of that over here either. If anything, you'd hear people talking about his roles in past movies, and how they were eager to see him play this kind of role.

Extremely fucking stoked to see this movie. I read the comic a couple of days ago for the first time, and it was one of the best comics I've ever read. And so far, the trailer seems to live up to the GN perfectly. You can even recognize the scenes directly taken from the drawings. Except for Nite Owl's cape being too long, it looks perfect.

Can't wait to see Rorschach in action.

Also, see my sig.

I might have to see it again but I do not know if it was that good and he had the best performance.I was looking for a good Batman movie one that was around Batman not everyone around him.

Yeah Rorschach is pretty bad-ass (from the comic:) "Excuse me, must use toilet." *goes to toilet and swirlies a midget to death*

But I can't wait to see the Comedian! Jeffery Dean Morgan even LOOKS like Edward Blake! My only gripe is that they made everything darker judging by the trailer shots.

Watched a few movies in the last couple days, saw 28 Days Later, Red Dragon, and Day of the Dead before, but the others for the first time.

Red Dragon 8/10
28 Days Later 8/10
Day of the Dead 6/10
Following 7/10
Deep Red 6/10
Slither 7/10

Luckily, I didn't have to sit through any shitty movies.

Yeah, you did. You watched 28 Days Later, which was pretty shitty. Of course, this is your opinion, but man, I really hated that movie.

28 Days Later is my favourite 'zombie' movie, even though they're not technically zombies.

The previews made it out to be some sort of awesome zombie movie, but in reality, all it was was some infection/disease that was a minor part to the movie, and about a mother and daughter trying to escape some hideout with a bunch of horny men. No thanks.

They weren't mother and daughter. The girl was someone they picked up along the way, along with her father, until he became infected. The infection wasn't a minor part. They spent nearly the entire movie running away from the infected. If anything the military base with the guys was a more minor part as it only happened for the last bit of the movie, and half the time they were there they were fighting or running from the infected.

To be truthful, it has been a while since I've seen it, but I do remember that part being a major downer on the movie.

I only saw the first half of it, but it was a fine movie, certainly competent. Maybe I'll go back and watch the whole thing if the DVD works this time.

Same here. I've seen several zombie movies, both new and old, but none of them do it like 28. That movie just had a creepy atmosphere and sense of forboding. I don't know, I just like it.

Oh and Heath definantly deserves that award. I remember going into the movie theaters thinking that everyone was praising him because he died, I was really expecting an okay performance. He simply blew me away.

I absolutlely hate misleading trailers. I remember when I was around 8 or 9 and I saw the trailer for "Kangaroo Jack", thinking that it'd be a comedy about a cool, talking kangaroo. I was pretty damn stoked for the movie. It turns out that there's only a very short scene, where one of the guys is DREAMING that the kangaroo can talk. What an evil way to dissapoint so many children.

So, who else is looking forward to Watchmen? I have severe doubts that the movie will do it justice, but at the same time, I can't deny that the trailer made me rather excited in the pants.

Back to the Future - 5/5

Fucking classic. I imagine I don't really have to go into detail on this one, as it's just one of those movies that everyone and their mother knows and loves. Taking elements of comedy, science fiction, romance and adventure, Back to the Future is a tremendous and enervated film relying on a plethora of laughs and "edge of your seat" moments to create a genuine masterpiece. Nothing wrong with this at all.

Bonnie & Clyde - 5/5

A tale woven from the dusty tomes of history, this is a well-written, lengthly and gritty masterpiece focusing on the lives of the infamous robbers. The acting is absolutely phenomenal, with Warren Beatty stealing the show almost completely with his trademark grin and his outbursts of psychotic violence, although Faye Dunaway's more emotional, sexy portrayal of Bonnie Parker is not to be diminished, and the same for the gamut of side characters you run into along the way. This is not a flashy movie, nor does it ever lapse into cliche, but it does pack a host of scenes that are brilliant, sometimes beautiful and sometimes very brutal, along with a dose of hard-edged realism and gripping suspense, making for a golden classic for the ages. See it.

Tekken - 3/5

Cheesy, cliched, badly dubbed anime, but not without its charms, for this is quite fun if you do not watch it with any great expectations. Decent overall.

Haven't seen 28 Days Later yet, but I think Dawn Of The Dead still blows any zombie movie out of the water.

The Watchmen is discussed earlier on this page. Either way, it looks pretty cool. I don't know what it's about though. Something about superheroes and nukes or something.

It is a dark drama sort of graphic novel focusing on a group of mostly retired superheroes and the events that transpire after one of their own is murdered in his home. I suppose that isn't a good description but you'd just have to see it for yourself.

Ah, I see, my bad. But do read it, it's considered one of the pinnacles of graphic novels and superhero stories for a very good reason.

I'm actually glad that Batman was not the focal point of the movie, as the characters around him had an equal or bigger role.

I was also skeptical as to whether they were justified in saying that Heath Ledger should get a posthumous Oscar. I thought they were saying it just because he had died, but I now believe that he really deserves it. He really warped the character into an evil maniac, which was a good tweak. I hope he does win an Oscar.

I think he should definitely be in the running for Supporting, not lead though, the film was really quite an ensemble. I'm glad it didn't focus on batman much too, mainly because I don't like Christian Bale as batman, He certainly looks the part, but his Bruce Wayne is a dick, and seems more or less like he was in American Psycho, minus the murdering part. And as batman his voice is irritating.

I suppose Wayne has a certain arrogance about him that one would expect from a millionaire, but he's still a moral person. The only assholish nature I remember in the movie can be accounted for by his feelings towards Dent and Dowes' relationship. He's definitely very different from Bale's portrayal of Patrick Bateman.

I'm going through the more recent Batman movies so I just watched the 1988 version, and I must say it'll be a tough act to follow. I don't feel the need to see Batman & Robin, so I'm skipping that one.

All three are brilliant, my favourite movies of all time, along with the two Ace Ventura films.

My friend and I have actually concluded that the Doc is a neo-nazi, as evidenced by the speed required to get the Dolorian to travel through time.

Seriously JesusShaves, you should get it. It's rather cheap in some stores (the regular ones go for about $20, cheap for a really long comic book. The Absolute Edition is about $99)

I'm with Mikey with 28 Days later, I really didn't like it much, the people seemed even more stupid than most (and again, I'm with Mikey with not seeing it since it basically came out, so my memories are quite off), and all the in fighting of the non-zombies seemed really forced and well, crap. Not to mention the ending sucked.

Then again, I haven't seen it in a LONG time, so my memories could be warped.

Being a necrophiliac is one thing, but what should we call those who ATTEMPT to fuck ashes?

This movie is gonna be so AWESOME.

I saw it last Saturday (mentioned it a few pages back). It's pretty damn good, especially considering it's a Kitamura flick (I absolutely loathe that guy, well, the guy himself looked kind of cool when he was at the theatre for the world premiere but I hate what he did to my beloved Metal Gear Solid). The guy/girl relationship wasn't very compelling but it was very minor anyway, plus Vinnie Jones is awesome in it. Then again when is he ever not awesome?
