Woo, crikey, an 8 point review. I'd like to give myself a big congratulatory, masturbatory pat on the back for only taking about a week to get something I was happy with!

It's great to see the progress of metallic sound in Greece in mid 80ies.

Cons: no subtitles :X.

What's the documentary called?

Arrival of the Funeral Dogs is one of my favourite easy-listening death metal albums. Not very heavy or raging, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

So it appears in the month I've been gone, MegaHassan has become "Wet Pussy" and Napero became an admin. Did I miss anything else?

Well, yeah, I know all about that (been submitting reviews lately). What I mean is: did I miss anything else on the forums, whether important or just hilarious?

(Anyone care to explain Napero's promotion? I can't seem to find any mention why it happened. Congratulations, by the way.)

While they're not on the Archives, has anyone heard the bank Cloudkicker? They're an instrumental rock band which are really good. You can download the album The Discovery for free on their MySpace. I'm listening to it right now.

Napero's promotion was meant to be temporary, in the first time. Morrigan & HellBlazer have absented themselves and the need of one more admin has been felt. Morri then decided the promotion to be permanent. He has all the skills and is in a different timezone than any of the other admins (now I think of it, Evenfiel expatriated to France), which helps too.

The "Wet Pussy" change came from MegaHassan admitting to watching a cat drown in a pool a foot away from him, that was in the picture thread.

This last month has been fairly routine up until the last week with the hacking and crashes.

Haha, silly question. We all know Mikey's deflowering would have been mentioned here before he and the lass were even dressed. There's no way any of us would have missed it!

I just don't understand how it hasn't happened yet. I mean, he's a genuinely good-looking guy (no homo). Unless there's something I'm missing here, those Aussie chicks need to get their priorities straight.

Okay anyway, Destroy Destroy Destroy's new album is surprisingly good. Reminds me a bit of Bodom with some Ensiferum thrown in at parts, and their own modern touch. A huge improvement over their debut.

I'm doing a biography paper in the next two or three weeks for my Freshman Comp class and I was thinking about writing it on Lovecraft and his influences. To that end, I thought it would be cool to have a paragraph or two about his affect on modern music, specifically metal.

I honestly don't care about sub-genres, and I don't need exclusively Lovecraftian bands, just some songs/albums based around his stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tyranny could be insanely awesome if they could learn to trim some fat out of their songs.

Some good examples:

Metallica - "The Thing That Should Not Be"
Morbid Angel (can't name a song off the top of my head)
Black Sabbath - "Beyond the Wall of Sleep"

EDIT: Some more...

Catacombs - In the Depths of R'lyeh
Bal-Sagoth - The Chthonic Chronicles
Deicide - Dead by Dawn / Dead But Dreaming

I think that Metallica one is really the best example. It goes so far as to quote the infamous couplet:

"That is not dead that can eternal lie
And with strange aeons even death may die."

A guy getting arrested on Cops was wearing a Marduk shirt. He had an assault rifle, guess he took that whole panzer division thing a little too seriously...

*Insert lame "he should get arrested for listening to Marduk" joke here*

I think that one is about Evil Dead.

I found this quote on another site:

"“Dead by Dawn”: Contains a reference to the Necronomicon. The title suggests this is a reference to the “Evil Dead” films rather than to Lovecraft."

Edit: Sorry for the two posts in a row.

Surely it would have been before they were even undressed, I can only imagine that he would have posted it before he told us all of his continuing taste in bad modern metal. Anyway, I met a man with no chin tonight, it was both hilarious and, well, hilarious... he had no fucking chin.

There seems to be something wrong about that guy's whole head. Some features may be normal but overall he's very, very special. I'll admit that the nose is particularily dubious though.
