Correction, VALENTINES DAY is the most depressing time of the year :p.

But yeah, you're right about "feeling obligated" to celebrate the holiday. The idea that you have to buy gifts or send out cards to show that you care about someone is BS.

On the other hand, the winter break for my two-year college is nearly a month, so I'm livin it up right now! And if you're feeling bad about not believing in God at this time of year, remember that when the Catholics converted the Norse pagans to Christianity, the Catholic Church agreed to set Xmas day to be around the same time as the Winter solstice. The winter solstice was one of the really important pagan holidays. So everyone around you is celebrating a pagan holiday in disguise, well sort of! :D

Happy Jesus' vaginal exit day to everyone on the board, and by that of course I mean, happy birthday Napero. ;)

This was by far and away the best Xmas I've ever had; just my family and mums family that are here (not many since most of hers are in New Zealand), my aunt, two cousins and grandma (Dad's mother), which we've never done before. Tomorrow is another lunch at my dads family - one I'm not especially looking forward to, but hey, two big feeds and two rounds of presents, how could you go wrong?

Today I received (not ALL today but some were early Xmas presents so I'll include them anyway):

4GB of RAM, now my PC runs like a dream
Shape of Despair - Angels of Distress
Top Gear DVD
Massive folder which will come in handy for my course next year
Liverpool F.C. cap from my sister (she always gives the most thoughtful gifts)
6-pack of Bundaberg O.P. Rum and Cola (this is big since I can rarely afford these drinks due to Australia's 70% alcopops tax)
An upgrade for two months to Foxtel's platinum package so my sister can watch Cartoon Network and such, and I can watch Premier League matches and the like
$370 cash ($252US, $307CA, €180, £171)

Also I went to the pub for one quiet beer with my cousin, and won $7 on the pokies (put in $4 and got back $11 :P). Not normally a pokie fan but hey, it's Xmas and I'm loaded.

To round off the year I'm going to the cricket on the 27th with my mate who's back from Mt. Gambier till early January, followed by Melbourne Victory, BBQ on the 28th. With no real serious commitments, life is just going really, really sweet at the moment and it's about time. :D

On top of the classical boxset, I got $300 cash, new slippers, new sleepware, a sweater and a shirt...I can probably afford to buy the airsoft gear with the cash I have accumulated now. :p

More to come when grandparents and co come..

I might as well post what I got.

Epiphone Thunderbird IV (limited ebony) with all access pack.
Nightwish "Box Set 1" (Angels Fall First and Oceeanborn with limited cards)
Nightwish "Wishmaster
Eluveitie "Ven"
Battlelore "Where the Shadows Lie"
Celtic Frost necklace and belt buckle
Finntroll fingerless gloves
Burzum beanie
Ensiferum Victory Songs poster flag
4 Nightwish patches for my army jacket

Some pretty good music. I never really listened to the Tarja era of Nightwish (since all I owned was Dark Passion Play) and I must say I really enjoy it.

A quality list, to be sure. Tarja era Nightwish offers some very good music, especially amongst the earlier albums :) .

Music related, I didn't get a lot, but it was what I wanted!
Therion - Secret of the Runes
Therion - Live Gothic
Epica - The Divine Conspiracy
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse

I've just been depressed lately since my girlfriend broke up with me. But I'm feeling pretty good today...I'm glad to have nice relaxing days at home...last night I felt horrible though...my mom did too...she was going crazy for some reason...
And about getting fat and stuff...I'm not going to indulge in much junk food nor am I going to drink any alcohol...I feel much more happy staying healthy and eating right...it's not that I never drink nor never eat junk...it's just that I try to keep my basic lifestyle healthy and christmas is something I'm not going to conform to like others because I already have plenty of days where I sit on my ass and eat junk and drink

But anyways Merry Christmas all

Who the hell celebrates religion on Christmas anyway?
I celebrate consumism!

And if you guys are doing list well then so am I!

-XBox 360 /Gears Of War 2 bundle pack
-Call Of Duty 2(yeah 2...probably gonna trade it anyway)
-Megadeth jacket
-Clothes..lots of em
-Demolition Hammer "Epidemic OF Violence"
-Municipal Waste "The Art Of Partying"
-Amon Amarth "With Oden On Our Side"
-Misc shit

I actually fell kinda bad to get so much stuff cause I really don't like making people spend lots of money. I guess I'm not selfish enough.

I HAVE SEEN THAT. There's also a complete Bach collection that's somewhere around 200 discs by the same publishers.

I've considered getting one of those just to be a total completist... but who performs the pieces? I wouldn't want to get a complete recording of all those works with some sub-par group of performers.

Also, it's a pretty merry Christmas around here...
Judas Priest: Defenders of the Faith
Deep Purple: Fireball
Deep Purple: In Rock
King Crimson: In The Court of The Crimson King

About time I got those added to my collection!

Seems like not everyone is having a great time for Christmas. RIP bro

Quote:
The coffin is carried out of St George's Church in Telford after the funeral service for Royal Marine Damian Davies, 27, in Telford, England, Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008. Davies, a 27-year-old from Telford, died alongside two of his fellow Marines, Sergeant John Manuel and Corporal Marc Birch, on December 12. The men all died as a result of an explosion south of Sangin, Afghanistan, after they were reportedly approached by a 13-year-old boy pushing a wheelbarrow in which a bomb was hidden. Like last year, I refuse to ask anybody "so what did you get?" because it's just so fucking depressing.
