My Extremely Metal Christmas Loot (TM):

3 books (2 cooking, one history/fiction)
A bottle of danish schnapps
2 chainsaws
A bottle of cask strength (57.2%) 12 years old Glengoyne

I asked for nothing. It's so good to be me you wouldn't believe.

It's been pretty close to that here, there's a foot of snow and it's about 5 degrees outside...

Glad to here everyone's having fun. I ended up with The Sham Mirrors and Amorphis' Elegy for music, as well as some music downloads. Also some books (by Douglas Adams) and a Best Buy gift card, and fencing gear.

And a shirt that's a spoof off those "life is good" ones, it shows a bear attacking a guy's tent as he looks out with the phrase "life is crap."

In short, swordfighting equpiment + metal = good Christmas.

Tonight we're heading out to my uncle's for some celebrating, then I'm by myself till sunday as my parents are travelling a few hours north to visit my grandma, who's sick (I have to take care of our dogs and stuff, and she'd probably feel obligated to cook/housekeep etc. if I was there, so it's best that I stay back.) It is somewhat upsetting that she's ill and I won't be able to visit, but chilling for the weekend should be fun.

Lets see I got $300 I can spend or save, and if I manage to sell my leather jacket (too small unfortunately) I'll have around 500-600 total depending on how much I can get off the jacket. Any recommendations of where I could sell it?? and what should i get with $300 that's not going to be booze/drug related

Get one of these:
http://www.gameboy-advance.net/ds-lite/cyclods.htm
Makes the DS totally awesome... I use mine as a PDA and MP3 player, and occasionally use it to play games. And I agree with getting Mario Kart DS.

I got:
Wintersun - Wintersun
Till Death Unites Us - Norther
Ride The Lightning - Metallica
Nerf Maverick (Thought it would be fun to screw around with, and it is....)
Tracfone
$25 in Wal-Mart gift cards
Fenders for my Mountain Bike (Snow will not stop me from riding!)
Hoodie (Pretty comfortable, but will barely do crap in the cold)
Wooden Puzzle
Candy
Beef Jerky!

First year I've actually liked ALL of my presents, pretty nice actually...

I heard that one was good. I actually got the newest DS one, Order of Ecclesia, and am liking it so far. Seems a bit more linear in terms of exploration than the other ones, but the glyph system is fun. Kind of cool that they can come up with a new combat system every game and have each of them be unique.

That Arcturus CD I got is bloody amazing.

I suppose I should post my list:
A new coffee maker
$25 Ticketmaster Gift card
$30 Amazon gift card [just used it to get De Mysteriis, Blood Fire Death, and Terrible Certainty!]
$40 Giant Eagle gift card [which I will use for healthy foods and coffee]
$25 Cash
$25 Best Buy gift card (using tommorow, I'll get 2-3 good CDs)
$100 Visa Gift card [my parents got it for me to buy the shit I need to fix my Marshall amp]
Some cool clothes, including some Guitar jammy-pants.
A quasi-bullet belt [not a legitimate bullet belt, but still very cool. Makes me feel like some sotra badass]
A left-hander's planner. I'm left handed and need to plan things. It has already proven itself convenient.

I got a few CDs:

Kataklysm - Sorcery (I needed a physical copy of this, so it was nice to get)
Obituary - Left To Die
Kamelot - One Cold Winter's Night
Armoured Angel - Angel Of The Sixth Order (bought this on eBay as a present for myself though I won't get it before the new year, I suspect)

And a sci-fi book. I don't really know why I got a sci-fi book, as I don't really like that stuff but anyway, I was grateful.

I didn't want much for Christmas and made it clear that I didn't, so I'm satisfied.

'So ends the story of the CHAINSAW MAN... THE SAW IS THE LAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!'

But yeah, I had a decent haul this year -

A set of speakers for my Ipod, some decent clothes, much needed cutlery, a 9 volt adaptor for my delay pedal, the film Re-animator, AC/DC's No Bull, Manilla Road's Open the Gates and a bottle of whisky.

Decent haul this year, although 2008 was a pretty rough year for the family, as far as finances go. But I didn't ask for much anyway, so it's all good.

Several CD's:

Opeth - Watershed
Ralph Stanley - Old Time Pickin': A Clawhammer Banjo Collection
Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys - Clinch Mountain Gospel
The Louvin Brothers - 26 Classic Tracks
Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder - Soldier of the Cross
Ricky Skaggs & The Whites - Salt of the Earth

...You bet I'll be kickin' out the bluegrass for a while.

A few books here and there, some Armani cologne, clothes, a cover for my Bible, new guitar strings/picks, several gift cards. And I still have yet to have Christmas with my dad's side of the family...

Nobody knows how to shop for metal around here. They just go the Best Buy and stare hopelessly at the Savatage and Kiss. But I got gift cards to spend online!

I'm definitely not the spoiled brat type who throws a fit if their parents don't get them exactly what they want. It's just that I'm perplexed as to how they decided that I'd want a DS. I'm not that much into video games, so I'll have to look up recs for games such as einvolk's list. I'm noticing a common trend with praise for Castlevania games.

I can't really bitch though. The only gift ideas I specifically mentioned were The Dark Knight and a leather jacket, so they really didn't have much to work with.

Nah, I was offered some cheap wine and I turned it down. I have to be careful given my Scottish/German/Native American heritage and somewhat of a family history of alcoholism.

A 120 GB iPod
A Bane hoodie
A Clockwork Orange, American Psycho, and Requiem for a Dream books
Saints Row 2
Other stuff I don't really remember

It was a great Christmas, except for how I was (and still am) sick.
