Sure did!!!

Nah just kidding. In most AFL or NRL tipping comps, a draw is considered to be a correct tip no matter who you tipped. Football is a different story since draws are common.

It's funny that there's been two draws recently when the NRL recently passed new extra time rules for the purpose of eliminating draws :P

I wish they'd do away with extra time. Draws are just a part of the game, to be honest. No need to pick a winner when the losing team feels like they did enough to get one competition point.

A few years ago I've had disagreed but now I'm on the same page as you. Sometimes, only a draw will fit, and sometimes the winning team didn't do enough to deserve both points anyway.

Yeah, the Dragons have lost a lot of games by going down in extra time! :grr:

The Jays fell out of first. That didn't last long. They are still very much in it though. I'd worry about those damn Yankees again.

I wonder how Lebron is going to feel if/when the Magic win again.

I knew Toronto was sliding but I had no idea until today that they have reeled off nine straight losses. Be weary of teams that start the season so hot. Usually those are the ones that really slide down once they cool off. That's how it is with Florida too. It's almost a jinx to start off the season too hot.

Agreed. Unless you're the 1984 Detroit Tigers.

I thought Toronto was gonna end the losing streak today, but the bullpen blew it. At least their bats showed some signs of life. I'm just glad that roadtrip is over - hopefully they can turn things around on their upcoming homestand. I think getting OUT of first place may be good for them (takes the pressure off).

I read an interesting column suggesting that San Diego should rebuild trading Adrian Gonzalez for a boatload of good prospects. He has a good contract without a no-trade clause. He's a hitter who is tied with the most HRs right now hitting in a very pitcher friendly park. Toronto would be a good landing spot for him. I doubt the Pads would do trade him though.

Its sad that the Padres won 9 in a row and are still 9 out

Normally, I'd agree with you getting Gonzalez, but Toronto apparently has a hitting prospect who plays 1B who'll be coming up soon (I doubt Overbay will be with them much longer).

If Rios doesn't shape up, he may become expendable too - he has all the tools in the world, but he can't get it together. It shouldn't take players this long to get their shit together.

Toronto will have to keep their eyes peeled for prospects at 3B, SS, and C.

I'm not saying this year is a wash, but if they don't turn things around quickly, it soon will be. I can't say I was expecting them to win it this year (lack of pitching), but that first month did give me some false hope. Next year should be better once they get Marcum and McGowan back.

I wasn't expecting their bullpen to suck so hard this year though.

That is pretty pathetic. Especially in that division AND with the Dodgers without Man-Ram. Even more reason why they need to find yet another trading partner for Jake Peavy and rebuild while they can.

Matt Holliday is a fraud. He's not doing as bad as Big Papi is this season but he is pretty bad.

Yeah, Big Papi is killing the Sox right now. :grumble: They need to send him to down, now. Meanwhile, the starting pitching is pretty shitty as well. I'm surprised they're sitting atop the division, though I suppose we can thank the Blue Jays' recent tumble for that. After all, they don't belong up there. ;)

I could be wrong about this but I think that unless a player is doing a rehab assignment, a veteran of that magnitude having a given amount of years along with certain language in the contract would prevent the team from sending him down. Or it could be just simply that Ortiz is out of options as I don't know how many times he was sent down earlier in his career. Otherwise, they'd just have to release him. So I doubt they can demote him.

I'm still adamant that Ortis is injured. :p

With Toronto, yeah, April was a fluke (extended Aprils Fools joke? :p) At least they can show me what they can do when their heads are glued on straight. Oddly enough, I can't blame this 9 game losing skid on the starting pitching. Its either anemic hitting or a crappy bullpen. And the entire year, their supposed top 2 hitters - Wells and Rios - haven't done squat. That was bound to catch up to them sooner or later.

Toronto can NOT compete until they have at least 3 solid starting pitchers. They really only have Halladay and a bunch of newbies who are over-performing (at this point). They need a good closer too. My dead grandmother could pitch better than BJ Ryan.

They're going to have to go get somebody. Just somebody who is reliable and can round out that rotation a little better or stop the bleeding. Somebody like Aaron Cook makes sense since Colorado will most likely be having a fire sale after they axe their skipper.

Personally, I think Toronto should forgo this year and just focus on next year. They just lack the talent at this juncture. Sure they can be competitive and make things interesting, but I honestly don't think they have enough talent to go all the way. I'd love to see them trade off Wells and Rios, assuming anyone would take those worthless assclowns.

They should give enough new guys experience as they can (which they've been doing, at least with pitching) and focus on next year. I would not trade off ANY prospect with the futile hope of winning this year. I don't think I'd trade off Halladay either, unless some other team offered a TON of A-grade prospects.

That's going to be one tall ass order for the Cavs to comeback on Orlando now. Lebron can only do so much. He's averaging 43.1 pts. a game in the series but he can't outscore the Magic by himself. They still don't have enough talent around him to get over that hump.

Yeah, but they go back to Cleveland so they may be able to hang in there. But Orlando has been looking good, so we'll just have to see.

I'd rather not get to the final and lose. Its very difficult losing a final of any sorts, let alone being humiliated after a embarrassing performance from United. :) This summer is going to be interesting and next season will be more so. BRING IT ON!

I stand corrected the final tally read 2-0. Guess you should not trust people with football scores, if you havent seen the entire match. But still it doesnt change the fact that we got outplayed.

Indeed things will be interesting. I always like a close season. This one was until Liverpool lost their way mid-season.

A-League season kicks off on August 7 so I'm going to be without my fix of football for a couple of months!!! :( But when the football season comes around again, Liverpool and Melbourne Victory for the EPL/A-League double no doubt! :D

As a fellow Red, naturally I'll be behind Chelsea for the FA Cup game...

That was a nice win today for Toronto. I think they should wear those old powder blues more often(although that was the road uniform for a home game) especially when they're playing the Red Sox. haha. Although it made me wish Derek Bell and Tom Henke were on the roster so they can kick some ass under these guys especially Rolen.

Its odd, I don't know who I hate more ... Chelsea or Everton. Its almost on a par. I might not even watch the game ... But I do tend to watch any football match I can. :(

I will, like you, also miss football. Next year will be great though ... EPL til May and then the World Cup in South Africa, which England seem to be on course to reach (after their woeful performance in the Euro qualifiers). Not too keen on England though, never any passion.

Haha well I'm not the biggest fan of Chelsea myself, but I can never say "yes" to supporting the other Merseysiders. As you can tell, I'm not watching the match right now :P

It was a great goal. Initially he stumbled making himself look like a twat but powered it in with his left foot, a cracking goal. It came out of nowhere as well as Everton were starting to get more of the ball (I only saw the last half-hour).

On a sidenote: Bollocks, I'm a Boro fan and we went down, without fight either. The most annoying thing is that the manager still doesn't get the sack and no-one wants him, the Chairman for whatever bizarre reason would prefer to stick with Mr. Clueless than have more season ticket holders. Baffling really but...at least the Jawdee bastards went down with us! That sort of softens the blow. :D

My girlfriend is from a few miles outside of Middlesbrough and her family supports the team. Her brother was devastated. :) I had a good laugh because of that and the fact that a good friend of mine is a Newcastle fan. I'm not a fan of Southgate. I don't see what he's done for the team bar glorify your mediocrity. Think you can come back up any time soon? I hope not. Middlesbrough are a team we (Liverpool) always struggle against. You were one of the two teams we lost against this season! Looks like we might be going for Downing, too. Not sure if I really want him in our team. Seems overrated, but we're in desperate need of wingers.

Aye, he's actually done nothing. Seriously, his CV must say "PLEASE, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FILL ME! I AM EMBARRASSED TO BE THE PAPER FOR THIS CV" As for getting back up, I'm not confident, we'll lose a lot of players and Southgate's transfer policy leaves a lot to be desired (basically, buy anyone who is completely shit, haha). We won't go down the Leeds route since the Chairman is clever enough to put focus into not spending vast amounts anymore and we have the youth academy to rely on.

As for Downing, he's a good player; deserves to play for a better team and has done for a while. He'd do a good job for you I reckon and a targetman would thrive. The main problem is that he's a bit of a wimp and disappears in games.

My sister's a Liverpool fan, we used to always joke about how Middlesbrough v Liverpool was the most boring fixture of the season (because it usually was until these two past seasons!) yet somehow always made it on to TV.

Good to see the Sharks win an NRL game. After losing 10 straight, no wonder they celebrated like they won the grand final.
