That is embarrassing

The Netherlands played really well and throughly deserved their win. England's fielding let them down, they really are a rather shoddy unit.

English clubs never fold, even the tiny ones get mass support from the community when they're in trouble.

Do you really think a club as huge as Liverpool would ever go down? No way.

Interesting question but are there any English clubs (with a decent reputation) that have completely ceased to be as Monty Python put it? Halifax, Farnborough and Scarborough have recently gone bust but reformed soon after.

As for Liverpool, it's nigh on impossible. There will always be a buyer.

St. Kilda completely outclassed North Melbourne in the second half of the game, scoring 11 goals to 2. The Saints have now won 11 in a row, and are certain to play Geelong in the grand final.

Something I recently remembered was seeing Jason Akermanis on the NRL Footy Show on Thursday night. That was strange, to be honest, seeing him talk about a different code of footy. However, that was an excellent sight, and I hope an NRL player can go on the AFL footy show one day. I would love to see the two codes working together, rather than against each other. It would probably generate more fans for both codes that way.

Be fair, though. The Kangaroos had a heap of injuries and finished playing with 17 players.

I guess that's the luck of the draw. St. Kilda seem to have a lot of things go their way this year.

Will be an interesting Rd. 14 clash between them & Geelong, presuming they're both still undefeated.

Yes! I'll most likely be at that game, so it should be really good. :D

Mikey.... It's sold out. We can't go :( The AFL refuse to move it to the MCG despite at least 70,000 people wanting to go to the game, because it'll upset the corporate boxes and all that other bullshit. It's namby pamby political correctness, just Demetriou and a bunch of fuckwits "helpin' a brutha out", shady backroom deals - despite the AFL publicly saying they would always move sellout clashes to big venues in order to maximise attendance.

Ash - welcome back.

As for Liverpool, I guess I got a little scared at the words "All Liverpool fans should be greatly concerned". We should be fine, I guess I just like to worry, ahha.

Roy Halladay was awesome Sunday. A seven-hit shutout of the Royals. Where would Toronto be without him this year.

I had a feeling that would happen. :( Well, maybe we can still watch it, at least. I guess it's up to Geelong if they wanted to move the game, seeing as it's a home game for them. Having the game at the MCG is more advantageous to St. Kilda, so I can understand the reasoning behind not moving the game.

At the same time, the AFL is losing out on a lot of revenue. The same happened a few weeks ago in the NRL, with the Dragons taking on the Bulldogs. Fans screamed that it should be held at a larger venue, but the Dragons CEO said, "no, I don't think so, bitches." I guess you can't win them all.

.... So Australia are out of the ICC World 20/20 after just 3 days. It would seem their era of dominance in cricket really is over. Losing to Sri Lanka is fair enough as they are a fairly tough team on any given day in limited overs formal. But losing to the West Indies? Did Ricky Ponting and Co some how miss the woeful form the West Indies have shown in recent times?

The Australian cricket team are a bunch of has-beens. When we were dominating the world, we didn't recruit anybody, and now we're paying for it. I'll be surprised if we win the Ashes.

If you lose, what will be the response in Australia? Will it spell the end for Ponting?

Something has to happen if we lose. You see, Australia loves to beat England at any sport, so the response will be pretty harsh if we do happen to go down. I'd think Brett Lee will be gone, and Ponting might survive, but he'll be on shaky ground.

The new players that are coming through the ranks are not as good as Adam Gilchrist or Shane Warne, and it'll take a while for us to get our heads around that, and finally accept it. After all of Australia's dominance in world cricket, once those players retired, we weren't prepared for the next generation, and we're paying for it.

I honestly don't think we'll win the Ashes. It'll be an upset if we do.

I somehow don't think it will be too much of an upset if you win it, the English looked very shoddy in the tests against the West Indies and I believe that with both teams being low on test form, the Ashes will be a close-fought, nail-biting affair. I may be wrong but it's a nice idea.

I also noticed the lack of class in your "new generation" players. It's great that the South Africans have such strength in depth and that several of our best first-team players are still in their 20's. Our domestic scene is very competitive and is always producing class players too.

Perhaps it's South Africa's turn to dominate world cricket for years to come?

South Africa had a devastating team during the years they were banned from cricket, it is a shame that country policies allowed players of such skill to go to waste

This is true, they are the lost generation (or two) of South African cricket. But they shall not be forgot.

It's actually not up to the Cats, it's up to the AFL. It's as much about the Saints as it is the Cats though: Saints only have one game at the MCG the whole year and they need practice on the MCG in front of a huge crowd in order to practice for the finals, as well as the extra revenue and the rest of it. The corporate bullshit is an absolute disgrace and it's ruining the game, but unfortunately, you can't argue with the powers that be.

That's sort of like last year (I think). Where 2 big teams were playing at GC and everyone wanted it moved because of the magnitude of the game.

May be way off there, but I think that's right.

Which teams were playing? It sounds like you've hit it right... Did they want to move it to Suncorp? Surprising that more than 27,000 would turn up to a Titans game :P

They tend to be, haaha. I met West Coast's Liam Bedford at a party when he was on Geelong's list. He's my friends cousin, and I just about orgasmed when I heard there was a Cats player in the house. Then he told me he was moving to West Coast and I was like "next" :P

AFL split round this week, and the most important one for me, as a Geelong fan, is that the Blues get up over St. Kilda tonight. Normally I would never support Carlton, but obviously it's vital that we get top spot, just for the sake of winning the pissing contests.

I think Richmond may have a chance against West Coast, but I'm still picking the Eagles to win. I can just never back a pissant club like Richmond unless they're playing the second-bottom team :P

Well, that didn't happen, so you better hope Geelong can overcome Fremantle, which they should. It's just unfortunate that you have to wait eight days to find out. ;)

You do realise that St. Kilda and Geelong have to lose a game eventually. And because of their incredible winning streak, I believe that if they lose one, they'll lose two.

If the Wings come back to win this then there is no justice. This is Sidney's time now. Hockey belongs to him. He is the next great one.

I'm an Avs fan, so I don't particularly like the Red Wings... haha.

I'm also a Flyers fan, so I'm not big on the Penguins either ;)

But I hate Detroit, so I'm glad Pittsburgh got it.

It's kind of insulting to present all these trophies to the Penguins after what Michigan has went through in the past year. Almost like they're rubbing it in. I guess it's their fault for sticking around to see it, but still, ouch.
