Suicide Girls, Blue Blood, Burning Angel, etc.

Common criticism targets altporn sites run by men while it advertises an explicit feminist message.

As a result, numerous models from these sites have split from their former employers and founded their own sites...also run or financially backed by men.

Your thoughts?

I think it depends on the specific porn. Some porn, where a guy pounds a girl seems sexist, while porn where a guy is strapped to a chair and spanked by a woman are more feminine.

Though I noticed that on DVD covers of porn, you usually see all of the names and faces of the actresses, while the guys are just there for their penis. Who is really treated like a piece of meat?

TBH, porn is losing the high it once gave me. Yet I can't help but keep viewing it. I reflect upon my addiction, and realize that I'm no better than your average junkie. It's like a bad joke told at its own expense.

Jim Goad puts an interesting perspective on the issue:

It's ironic how porn has gone so far to legitimize itself. Yet the reasons which the porn industry legitimizes itself would be suicide.

But then again, would porn die if no cultural taboo behind nudity, especially female nudity, existed? If there was no sexual repression existing, would porn lose its appeal? Does it really depend on sexual repression?

I'm not too sure about this one. On one hand, it seems to make sense. But I feel conflicted.

Well I think thats because even if it is becoming more and more socially acceptable for a woman to watch porn the assumption is that its a man buying it.

A lot of the big name pornstars are getting heaps more money than their male counterparts. Obviously, due to the large percentage of the market, it is only common sense that the women get paid more, but its not like they enjoy their job any less that requires such a substancial difference in salary. I don't think Porn is as exploitive as it used to be anymore. And i think the people who think that Porn is a completely exploitive industry are incredibly backwards.

With the ever-increasing public awareness of Pornography: Pornstars in Hollywood, Pornstars on Reality TV, Pornstars in your living room, im sure Censorship and Industry standards have become stricter. Obviously, there are cases where the women may be either tricked or decieved into commiting sexual acts on tape for little or no money, but considering the amount of porn that is produced, i think this nowadays would be a very small percentage to the situations where either the women have been paid an extra digit or two than their male counterpart, or have just agreed to take part. In the majority of the situations, the women can always say 'No'.

I don't know if anyone saw the 'reality' TV Show that Vivid created, giving an insight to the pRon industry! 'Porno Valley' i believe it was called. The show was pretty forgetful, but gave a little insight on a few of the girls personalities and opinions.
