I'm pretty confident that it will be released eventually, as well. If they don't... well, losing that amount of money is just unthinkable, especially when they really can finish it and potentially make a decent profit.

And the other episodes are harder I think, no? Ha something I always did when playing custom games, was playing with the Protoss with the invincibility cheat code, make the unit which enabled you to control an enemy and used it on humans and zergs so I could have bases of each races and upgrade everything and built that zerg corrupted terran base. Now that I think of it, it would be really boring to do, but I don't know why I always had so much fun doing so.

And you still care about Duke Nukem? Play the 'ol game that's it. I guess it will only be a disappointment, may be good but I'd swear it will disappoint. I mean, how much time has DNF been done, scrapped and redone?

A bug list was released in February, and George/Scott have yet to say anything (about the closing of 3D Realms), especially when you consider they are always the ones who talk about the game. That demo reel looks incredible. Duke Nukem giving the alien scum the finger is fucking classic.

Neverwinter Nights 2 has a much better original campaign than the first one did.

Khelgar Ironfist will destroy you all!

Growing up playing late 80s/early 90s AD&D games has given me an appreciation for the spells and whatnot, and it's awesome to see them in full 3D glory. Cloudkill!

Well, after about 13 years of expectations, it's bound to be disappoint people who still see it as the messiah of shooters. I just hope if it's going to be released, it's going to be a rather good game, loaded with humor and Duke's signature style one-liners.

In other news, HELL YES!!!!!!!!

I hope the supernatural part of Thief 4 isn't too bad. That shit scared me out of finishing the fucking game.

More free roam would be awesome. I loved going on murdering sprees.

You mean too present? Personally I loved that. I mean you thought it was just some nasty business involving kings and all and end up being that big fucked up thing, definitely had some appeal to me.

There's also a level that you enter a forbidden area of the keepers place. Somewhere where some monks were living and access have been cut off after a murder, you like break in days after the event, and days after anyone walked there. That too scared the shit iut of me at the time. I think I'll do another Thief playthrough after Starcraft.

More TF2 updates. As some of us have been guessing for a while, that sniper update was a spy. Also in a rather fitting manner for the character, Meet The Spy was leaked. By far the best Meet The Team -video so far.

That was a great "Meet the.." video  The whole lead-up to the spy reveal was pretty intriguing, I love it how Valve are playing with us. But it's logical to release to the updates simultaneously, as without the spy, every server would be flooded with snipers in the coming months. There's going to be a flood anyway, but at least there's some way to counter them.

I haven't been following this thread so I don't know if this has been posted but there is another fallout game on the way titled fallout new vegas. It sounds like a standalone expansion to me and the release is set for next year.

Also the DLC for Call of Duty WAW is out next month tenuously titled "map pack 2" featuring 3 new levels for the multiplayer and a new zombie mode. the maps are "Corrosion" which is a fucked up Russian train yard, "Banzai" which is a jap jungle water bridge thing and sub pens which is a monsoon blasted errr sub pen.

Guys I need some help.
I just downloaded Boken Steel for the 360 but the damned thing won't work!
When I start the game it says "loading extra content" (note that the downloads box is greyed out).
When I start playing the level cap hasn't been raised yet.
I tried finishing the game and after that the downloads box was available and Broken Steel was in there.
I tried loading the game again but nothing changed..

What should I do?

OK, I haven´t checked yet (I can't right now) but if that's the problem where can I get the new version?

I'm pretty sure that's the problem since I just got Xbox Live and I didn't update Fallout yet.

The "Meet The Spy" video is fucking awesome, definitely the best one yet; I've already watched it at least 10 times since it was released last night.

I was stoked to see that the Spy was getting updated last week on the TF2 blog along with Sniper; Spy is one of my favorite classes along with Heavy, Pyro and Scout. Definitely looking forward to what VALVe will reveal next.

P.S. Can't wait for the really awkward rounds for the next 2-3 weeks; nothing but Snipers and Spies on plr_Pipeline?!?!?!?

Should be fun.

inFamous comes out in nine days? Shit.

EDIT: I also noticed it's a PlayStation 3 exclusive. That sucks. Well, not really. I wasn't really interested in inFamous anyway. As far as I'm concerned, it's just another "superhero but not really a superhero" game.

Bethesda heard our cries!

Quote:
XTERNAL PRESS RELEASE

Bethesda Softworks Europe Announces Plans for Additional Downloadable Content for Fallout 3 on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3
19th May, 2009 - Bethesda Softworks Europe is today pleased to announce that Fallout® 3 downloadable content (DLC) is coming to PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. We have been working on implementing it for a while and look forward to bringing it to PS3 gamers via the PlayStation Network. Operation: Anchorage will be released for PS3 in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart. Release dates will be forthcoming.

In addition, a new update will be released for PS3 that will allow users to download and play the new DLC. The release date for that update will be announced at a later date.

There are also two new DLCs planned for all three platforms:

• Point Lookout – Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content.
• Mothership Zeta – The aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

Point Lookout will be available in late June for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 Microsoft Points. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live. Point Lookout will be available on PS3 after the first three DLCs have been released.

Mothership Zeta is scheduled for release in late July for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 Microsoft Points. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live. Mothership Zeta will be available on PS3 after Point Lookout.

Finally, new Fallout 3 products will be available at retail this year.

Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 includes The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on June 12th across Europe.

Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2 includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC in August across Europe.

A Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition will be available in October. It will include the original game plus all five add-ons for £39.99 / €59.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and £29.99 / €49.99 for PC.

Retail versions of the game add-on packs for PS3 will not be available and the DLC will only be available for download via PlayStation Network or with the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition.

I finally have a reason to play Fallout 3 again. The lack of continuation after the story and what not really killed the game for me. I am one of those weirdos who likes to have the freedom to technically continue playing open ended games like that forever.

I really wouldn't be so sure. If the game flops, they won't profit. 10+ years of development is ridiculously expensive (the team's yearly salaries alone, multiplied by ten, will make a huge amount) and can only be recovered through a phenomenal number of sales.
I guess we'll know what's going to happen with it at E3, but I wouldn't hold my breath. And honestly, why does anyone still care about that piece of shit?

If the game is never released, they will lose far more than what they would have by releasing it. My point still stands, I think.

Are you so sure? It depends on how advanced they are into the project. If it's pretty much finished, maybe the marketing costs won't be a make-or-break factor. But if there's still extensive QA to be done, or even some development (which I think is likely, considering), it will cost yet more money; add marketing costs to that and you'll get a nice bill. If they cut their losses now they could end up with a lesser loss.

Theres still development to be done, but even then they've already spent so much they might as well spend some more and finish it.
The game will propably sell fair enough to cover the extra costs and cut down losses on reputation alone.

Because theres no reason at all to assume it's a piece of shit.
3Drealms has pumped out consistant quality and many great games have been delayed over and over again.

Isn't there a name for this fallacy? Sunk costs, or something like that.

Perhaps, but I'm not entirely convinced of that.

What "great" games have been delayed to such an extent? It rather seems that such delays can only produce a disappointment.

Does not apply for two reasons: It would be a good decision to finish it even when disregarding the sunk costs and some of the money could actually be regained, which is not the case in the typical sunk costs fallacy.

Most FPS fans I know all have fond memories of Duke Nukem 3D.
When (or if) Forever finally hits the shelves I wager curiousity will get the better of people eventually, despite claims of "not giving a shit".

Only when anticipations get higher with time, however it's taken so long people don't care anymore.
But to answer your question, 3Drealms' Prey was also delayed....though not to that extent.
I can't recall any game has been delayed for so long actually, then again it was scrapped multiple times.

You only named one reason, not two, since the first "reason" is only true if the second is also true. ;) It would only be a good idea to finish it IF they can regain the money, and since there's yet more money to be spent on it, that's why I'm not entirely convinced.

Well, Duke Nukem Forever, when/if it is released will either be the worst game ever made, or the greatest game ever made. 12 years and there's absolutely no room for middle ground. The stakes are just too high.

Euh... either way would highly surprise me. I think they just scraped a version they may have been working on and re-done it differently with a newer engine.
