Glad that the tavern is back. While I don't post very much, browsing threads (this one in particular) is a good way to kill boredom.

Same here. Now that I think of it, I missed the Tavern a lot (I mean sure enough) during it's absence, even though I no longer post in it (at least not regularly).

You miss it? You mini mod in s&c so much these days I didn't even think you knew this place existed.

There's already a prog rock thread.
They are quite different styles of music, actually. Post-rock can be described as progressive, and it is essentially rock, but its origin as a style is quite far from prog. It's like hardcore to metal. Both are heavy and aggressive, but they are definitely different styles.

Well, post rock is included as a prog genre in progarchives. As a prog listener, I don't really enjoy post rock et al but I am a Genesis/KC/Gentle Giant type, not the DT/PT type who probably like post rock a lot.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Yes, actually. You're pretty sharp, aren't you?

This is a very good thing. I think that joining a random sports forum, for example, and watching jocks wage war about who has better workout equipment sounds really dull to me. I want to hear what people who regularly inflict injury upon their own necks in the name of their favorite bands have to say about staying fit and the like.

As a headbanger and a former pro wrestling fan, I hereby suggest that the Sports Thread be renamed the Neckbreakers' Union.

Keeping with Nappy's idea, I was wondering about the nature of our dear caspian's custom title.

it's a quote from some Lovecraft thing, I thought it sounded cool, kind of reflects my job and what I do in my spare time, so I asked for it.

I like DT and personally think that PT are quite ok if not amazing yet I dont like post rock one bit. I ve tried a bit of it but it didnt seem like prog rock to me, seems closer to alt rock. But I am no post rock authority so my word hardly counts.

That reminds me of a huge conversation I had once (similar to the MUTORCS fiasco) where me and a few other chat buddies would just start naming off "Post"- genre tags that were obviously exaggerated. That was one of them.

Only noticed this just now. So, the appointment of all the new forum mods was indeed an April fool's joke. My first impression was right!

Glad to see the Tavern back, I always enjoy this little area.

I knew gay jokes were the norm in the Mods private forums.. :uh oh:

I just downloaded Google Chrome. Why not, right? I was wondering who else uses it that could tell me how it is better than Mozilla Firefox?

But the Prog Archives just add anything these days. I recently found out that they have My Dying Bride on there... which is just silly. That website is terrible anyway, barely any discussion on bands outside of King Crimson and Porcupine Tree.

Anyway, the new Kiuas is about the most disappointing thing I've ever heard, sounds like Axenstar or something, absolutly zero balls, also, a Dragonforce keyboard tone and focus.

Sad... how is wanting a separate homeland for your people automatically make you a supremacist?

I saw a British documentary online a few years ago about the AWB, there were some funny lines there, like when the second-in-command said to the journalist - "Yes but you were made in God's image, white!'. They're incredibly racist, not in the kinda smart Varg way but in the inbred hick way.

It goes beyond just wanting a homeland for his people, the guy was a supreme idiot and a douche; besides, there is already a homeland for Afrikaners called Orania, he could have just moved there.

Now that the Tavern is out of reach for the common rabble, I think we could start using this area for discussing the characters of various users. Placing this thread here and not the Admin HQ as usual is perhaps more useful, since even the guys without admin status can participate, and it's not like we could leak anything important this way with the Tavern hidden.

The first question I'd like to throw out there is on DeathRiderDoom... I mean, come on, his band is called "Gaywyre", with an EP called Coming Out. He's extremely friendly to handsome and masculine fellows (like me) on the IRC, and I know that Kiwis, generally, are not that puristic on their attitudes on not-quite-that-straight folks. Not that it matters, it's not like he could ever physically touch me, but anyway, just asking... Opinions?

Holy Shit! I just found the Tavern to be up again (and never come into the FFA), but i do it once, and this is what i find you mods up to behind closed doors?! :) Hilarious.

Anyway, on a related note - I also have a forum crush. I know he's married, (to a woman :( ) even has children, but i long to one day have his masculine, woodsman arms around me.

That is all.

Well I'm glad this is back, I have an important question that's not worthy of its own thread. I'm doing a German cultural project, and I was wondering if anyone who lives in Germany could fill me in on a couple things. Do German speakers call black metal schwarz Metal, or do they say the English black metal? Same question for the other genres. Also, are drugs common at a metal show over there? I know people smoke a lot of bud at shows here, but I was under the impression that German laws are more strict. Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Easter: You've stopped me not being able to buy beer for the last time, Jesus!
Though it is legal to sell liquor here today, finally (Easter Monday) = i'm gonna buy beer and hit the balcony. I usually never forget to stock up for the Easter weekend but must going senile from old age (and beer).
