Ok, seeing as these things always get locked, here's three simple rules (I can't actually enforce them unfortunately).

- This thread's for various epic nature photos (on scales both big and small) that you've taken.
- No people in any photos at all :)
- Maybe try to keep the photos at facebook photo resolution, so that people's screens and stuff don't get all stretched and munted.
- If they are large, use a spoiler tag. Do not use multiple tags for no reason. No reason to force people to click several times over just once to see your photos.

Here's some of mine:

Esperance/South Coast WA

Desert WA:

(I know, more sunrises, really go to get out of that habit)

So, now that I've got it started, post some of your own!

Wow, the third and last picture is beautiful!

I only have two random photos I've taken a long time ago, nothing special:

The last one is edited, obviously. Unfortunately I don't have the original photo anymore.

It's the coastline of a small island in Denmark called Glænø, only about 70-90 people lives there.

I guess, by living in Australia, it's hard to imagine two nations touching like that. Swim for 30 seconds across a river and you're in a brand-new country. Strange. :P

A lookout near me called Hindmarsh Lookout. The picture does it no justice; it was super quiet up there and the most peaceful place ever. The view was magnificent, too.
Image

The only other ones I can find at the moment are epic city/suburb shots, but I'm not sure if they count, so I'll leave them out. Neither of them have specific people in them....

These photos were taken around my family's house in rural Donegal, Ireland. I'm not much of a photographer so the pictures don't quite do the beauty of the place justice.

This was taken in New Mexico. I'm not a very good photographer, but I just took a shit ton of pictures on this trip and this one turned out pretty awesome.

I know you said no people...and I'll take this one off if need be, but...it is, admittedly, a pretty 'epic' nature photo, and the person in the shot adds to it more than it detracts. but again, i can get rid of it.

And one from the boring flatlands for good measure...

most my pics are analogue and I do not bother digitalizing them. One of the few nature photos that I am able to upload.

This is a picture taken at night (!) and this would be a tree next to a school in Bremen.

All of these photos are beautiful but Pseudodraconis, you live in a very beautiful area! I think the person in the one of the pictures fits as well, really magnifies how epic that landscape is in comparison to a tiny human.

The Rockies' southern end runs through NM. The rest of the country is flat plains with some desert, but the mountains make their own weather. Its still incredibly dry though, most of the time. I don't live there though, I'm from California. I was backpacking there for 3 weeks a couple years ago and took that. This thread is really cool, awesome pictures everyone.

Here are some I took last year on my cross-country trip from Houston, TX to Vegas. Lots of stops in between, but I'll let the pictures do the talking. Most of the others have people in them.

Thank you very much, but I don't, unfortunately, live there. I just visit very often. Two of those photos are from Grandfather Mountain in Linville, North Carolina. The two darker ones were taken from a peak off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The other photos with the fir trees were taken in Todd, North Carolina, on a Christmas tree farm. The last photo is the only one from where I actually live, in Florida.

Damn, I'm kicking myself for not taking any pics on my Wednesday hiking trip. I was not planning on carrying anything with me other than a small shovel and some pots to bring back some medicinal herbs. It was raining and I didn't want to get the camera wet. I'm getting more and more into ethnobotany so much so that I now look at every tree and plant, shrub, and weed with a new found scrutiny and wonder. Just looking at these overhead views on some of the pics here and the desert ones has me wanting to go back for more specimens. Anyone else interested in medicinal herbs?

This was taken a couple of years back during a week long stay at Rancho del Cielo, a small rain forest in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico in search of El Ongito (Psilocybe Mexicana). We found many colorful caps, nothing edible though. Luckily there was lysergic to share with the rest of the blotterheads.

Image

These are a couple of shots taken on our road trip to Real de Catorce, Mexico in search of Hikuri (lophophora williamsi). Catorce is known as Wirikuta among the Huichol Indians who believe it to be one of their most sacred sites if not the most sacred as they annually hold pilgrimages in their hunt for the sacred cactus. The Huichols, or as they call themselves, Wixaritari, are the only Mexican indigenous society that has managed to resist becoming Chrisitanized and modernized.
