Last year we had a major flood in our river/lake system, and the impact was devastating. Most people lost their cabins, but luckily on a personal note we sandbagged our cabin into a fortress and saved it.
One good thing was the opportunity for pictures :D

Neither nor, it's the midnight sun. Seen from a mountain near Kiruna. Truly an awesome place (the mountain. Kiruna is rather lame, aside from visiting the ore mines).

ha ha ha we get these things here, it's called a weta.
i occasionally see a dead one on the footpath near my house, we used to get them inside when i lived out in the country, the damn things JUMP too and they bite
the spiky thing on the back isn't a stinger it's for laying eggs under tree bark etc [the photo must be of a female] that's an adult's hand, not a child's.

i'm starting to think norway is black and white ha ha :-P
we call those flowers foxgloves here, they always remind me of camping with dad when we were kids, nice shots.

edit: oops, you put their name above one Digitalis purpurea = Foxglove [not an italian industrial metal band]

Haha, yes it's all black and white here!

Yes they have many names, we call them: Revebjelle. It would mean Fox Bell.
They are everywhere here,eEspecially close to the roads.

inhumanist, that bridge in Norway (?) immediately made me think of the one in Constantinople. It's been a long time since I've seen that one though, so I might be wrong. Does it happen to be designed and built by a Japanese company?

Also, great photos everyone. Keep 'em coming forestcorpse, it's always nice having a look at your beautiful country!

I suppose you mean the first picture with a bridge? Sorry, no idea. I don't think so though since I don't find anything about who built those bridges on the interwebz. These thin, bow shaped ones are pretty common on the Lofoten.

bah! suspension bridges all look the same ha ha
and apparently the longest one is in japan, denmark has some super long bridge from memory but it's a different type.
i like bridges, especially if they're made of stone and covered in moss and stuff :-D

The third one is awesome. Great play of light and shadows, open and... closed (?) spaces... much going on in there. Very atmospheric. I'd make it my desktop wallpaper but my screen has approximately four times the pixels.

a four leaf clover?! that's good luck, you should pick it, don't pick the 5 leaf ones though, they turn you gay and hence are very bad luck.
those thistles remind me of a funny pesticide advert we had here years ago, it's called a 'nodding thistle' here so the advert had a thistle headbanging to heavy metal ha ha ha :headbang:

Ive been meaning to post something here for a while: These are all on the California coast. I don't live there anymore but still visit once in a while. Quite a bit different than the scenery I'm used to.

Image
Waterfall in the Forest of Nisene Marks, Aptos (about 90 miles south of San Francisco)

Image
Deep dark murky forest, Butano State Park, Pescadero, California (60 miles south of San Francisco)

Image
Watch out for the giant maggots!! (This is a type of slug that is native to this part of California. They're totally harmless. I think...)
Image
This ancient, twisted, gnarled old oak tree was just up the hill from my parents house growing up. While multiple generations of kids built platforms in it's gnarled trunk, this tree has probably been here far longer than humans have- at least, since history in the San Francisco area was recorded. This is just about 20 miles south of San Francisco.

I immediately recognized those pics as California. :)
The slug is called a Banana Slug and is indeed harmless.
