Greetings,
I have been visiting here for a long time before I decided to create an account and join in. I am from Turkey and I'm a high school student. I discovered heavy metal about 3 years ago by listening to Rammstein. After listening to the classics for a few months, I started to explore the actual stuff, that is, extreme forms of metal. I started out with Haggard, Septicflesh and Rotting Christ. Then I dived deep into black metal since it gave me the diabolic, yet beautiful spirit I wanted in metal music. I am also a loyal classical music lover since my childhood and I like symphonic metal bands too.
My favourite bands are (not including the classics) Burzum, Rotting Christ, Septicflesh, Haggard, Opeth, Peste Noire, Death, Nile, Nargaroth, Gorgoroth, Be'lakor...
Goodbye everyone, hail Satan!

Hi, I'm SuspendedAnimaniac, I am yet another guy who has been lurking around here for years but never bothered making an account here until now. The funny thing is that I used to listen to nu metal when it was way, way past its relevancy as well as metalcore and post-hardcore when I was as a young teen, thank God I never went through a scene phase. But as I grew older I wanted heavier and more sophisticated music, I got introduced to bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Dimmu Borgir in high school, and from there on it blew everything else I listened to at the time out of the water. Opening my ears and the urge to discover more bands is what brought me here to Metal Archives. I currently live in the unsavory inland part of southern California, and while the vast majority of music I hear blasting out of loudspeakers or car subwoofers is either rap or top 40's, I do on rare occasions see some other metalheads. My younger brother listens to Sabaton and Powerwolf, and as far as I know, they are the only metal bands he listens to, I have even went with him to see Sabaton (feel free to roast me) and Kreator in LA at The Wiltern in 2018.

Literally just been pointed here from another forum, got a wide and varied taste in metal and all the myriad of sub genres. Most recently dusted off my vinyl copy of Morbid Visions for blasting out at home. My commute to work playlist currently has Tomahawk, Hexes and Wagdug among others.

Enjoy good debates and calling shit when I see it.

Hello,

I hail from Trinidad and Tobago. I've been coming on this site for years looking at reviews to see if a band's album is worth listening to and decided to make an account. I like Symphonic, Folk and Power. I also like bunnies. :)

Hi everyone, I've been around - mostly using the archives themselves, not exactly the forum - for quite a long time, since 2003 to be specific. I posted a few times here and there, but seldom use the forum, and I think I owe a proper introduction.

I'm from Brazil (don't know if there are many fellow Brazilians here), not exactly a musician - I just goof on a drum kit when I have the chance, never had formal classes, or any classes for that matter - but a hardcore fan of a lot of metal subgenres. I plan to use the forum more often and catch up with the newest topics, but along the lines of "listen more, say less" until I feel confidence enough to share anything.

Cheers!

I'm from Southern California. I've lurked the archives for years. I figured maybe I would actually start talking to people here as well.

Cheers!

Greetings!

Apparently, I forgot how much time ago I registered myself in this forum.
Anyway, I've been pleased to use the archives since I was a fresh and inexperienced metalhead, and I found them extremely useful. They've been a blessing to me: growing up in a small and insignificant town in northern Italy, right in the middle of what I call "the Un-rock Singularity" (an area where anything remotely linked with rock and its heavier forms is almost unheard of), I had no other way but the Internet to get what I desperately needed, and still need: metal, of almost any kind. Every sub-genre has some bands I like, though I must admit that thrash and death are the least loved kids in the family. But this is not a rule: with some commitment, I found some bands or records I love even there (Vektor and old Dark lunacy, to name a couple).
Now, I decided to take a step forward and starting to write here, hoping to have a good time and always find new bands and records to fall in love with.

See you around.

P.S: please forgive my english. It can be awful at times. I promise I'll try to improve it.

Hi, I'm MickeyLightning. Another long time lurker that has finally decided to register and take part in the discussion. I'm from India and currently reside here but I've also spent about 5 years in the United States (where my Texas folks at?). I've been into metal since about a decade now. Just set up a last.fm today so check that out if you want - https://www.last.fm/user/MickeyLightning

As far as metal goes, I listen to a lot of death and thrash. I also listen to some black, doom and sludge from time to time. Currently obsessed with Infester and Incantation. Apart from metal, I'm into video games, TV shows, and movies, AKA the usual stuff.

Looking forward to posting here more often and eventually getting around to writing reviews.

Greetings,

I used to post here a few years ago as Lowtide85, but drifted away from Metal for a while as I explored other music styles from around the world. I also must admit having and ideological breakdown recently that made realize I shouldn't reject something I love because of what others deem to be right or wrong.

My favorite genre is Black Metal and it's pretty much the only one I listen to (when young though I listened to plenty of Maiden and Symphonic Metal).

Hopefully I'll stay longer this time.

Hey! I'm Claire, a (still somewhat new compared to others) metalhead defying the stereotype that teenagers only listen to crappy mainstream pop and rap! I'm 5 minutes new here but decided to join so I can finally talk about metal (and maybe rock?) to people that actually either know what I'm talking about or listen to the genre. Favorite subgenres would have to be power metal and as of recently, death metal. Jamming out to death metal is my new way to de-stress after a long day...

Anyways, nice to meet you all and rock on :metal:

So, I learned today that I never actually posted onto here when I joined! It's probably worthwhile I do that, just for the sake of doing it.

So... hey. I'm TheMeh. I've been around now since maybe 2014/2015 (if my memory serves me well enough here), but really jumped onto the MA bandwagon back in 2018 after my review on Cage's "Science of Annihilation". Reviewing, since then, has become a hardcore passion for me on this site, and I wish to keep writing them for as long as I can... even if, sometimes, I become a bit too scathing in my honesty or the like.

Truth be told, I've written a lot of other things in the past on other sites - the most notable being a spree of conceptual maps for Zombies, on Call of Duty. Over on a relatively obscure forum (to which, I'm a proud moderator of). So, I guess calling myself "experienced" in writing is either an understatement or overstatement, depending on your outlook. Irregardless, I'm hoping my confidence in doing said writing will be boosted over time - the responses I've had on my reviews so far have been humbling, to say the least!

You'd probably find a few of these details out on my main site profile, but I hardcore listen to progressive metal - although, I originally started with metalcore. Yeah... that kind. Weird shift, I know. Irregardless - that's never really stopped me from diving into thrash, death, or even now, black metal (that last one's gonna surprise me for a while). Hell, I think I still got a couple of metalcore albums I've come to appreciate over the years. To be honest, I'm of the belief that every band that takes their craft seriously enough can produce good songs, or good albums, so... that might be why I'm connected as much as I am to some of the older albums I used to listen to.

I hit up the Discord a lot now, and am in the midst of a discography review for Devin Townsend's discography (with a few mediating releases between - too much focus on one thing kind of sours the whole experience). Music is a passion for me, as the listener, and... yeah, I think all these elements collided keep me going 'round here. They will, likely, for the foreseeable future. Whether or not I know how much feedback or appreciation any of these things give me... it's more of the fact that I do them at all that makes me happy to be 'round here, y'know?

...anyways, I know this "introduction" is a bit long-winded, so... I'll leave it at that. Feel free to hit me up anytime on the Discord if you'd like - hell, recommendations and review requests over there seem like an amazing avenue already.

Per aspera ad astra.

Sup

I tried to register an account over four years ago but, unbeknownst to me at the time, the activation email got buried my spam folder and I only just recently got around to getting that all sorted out. I'm an avid connoisseur of all things heavy and extreme and my tastes largely reside in the Death and Black ends of the metal music spectrum. I'll try not to be an asshole (most of the time).

Hails!

Howdy y'all. Longtime hesher here. Took some years off from the genre because it was connected with a lot of bad memories, but I couldn't stay away forever. Made some life changes, put the past behind me, and here I am. My tastes run to a little of almost everything, but my heart will always be in Scandinavia circa 1990-1995 or so. Look forward to connecting with folks.

Hey, all! This is a new account, but I was previously a teenage poster on here called Pathological_Frolic, back in the year 2008 or so.
I'm all grown up (well, mostly)! I've gotten back into metal recently, combing through my massive collection of CDs, and figured coming back into the community might help me stay abreast of what's going on the genre of music that has brought me immense joy and catharsis.

I'm curious to find out who's still here and what's changed.

I love death metal (Morbid Angel, Carcass, Cryptopsy) as well as doom metal (trouble, pentagram, reverend bizarre) as well as sludge (Eyehategod has gotten me through some rough times). Non metal favorites include The Smith's, My Bloody Valentine, Wavvves, and a lot of the early 90s rap that came out of Memphis (Tommy Wright III, Three Six Mafia, Project Pat, Koopsta)

I live in RI, though I was born and raised in Georgia. I play guitar and bass, so I also wouldn't mind finding people down to jam, once in a while.

Hey, MJ is the name! Not exactly a new member. I used to have an account and be quite active here, then live happened and the last time I logged in was about 5 years ago. Unfortunately I wasn't able to recover my old email address and with that my old account here. Today I decided to hop on board again. Greetings to you all!

Hi. I'm not actually new, I was relatively active in the early 2010s, and my posts are still here, but back then I was a "straight-edge" obtusely right-wing Christian teenager, and I am none of those things anymore. Reading back on my old activity is still great for a laugh, though!

Hi folks. It has already been a while since my last contribution here. I decided to create a new account, using the nickname under which I am known on other sites too. I believe that it suits better to me than the previous one.

Although I got a bit older, I am still the fervent metal fan as I used to be and it will probably be like this until my demise.
Now I spend a lot of time by translating and contributing to Tatoeba project.

I have the same thing going on. I have an account here from 2002, when I was a super duper Christian person. It's really more embarrassing than anything to me. I have been quite the opposite for quite a few years now. I had contacted the websmaster and asked if I could be sent a password for the account. I lost the email to it years ago. He never wrote me back. I guess its for the better just the same. Anyway, welcome back to the fold.

Alltough I'm not new on this board (made an account in april 2008), I think I never really introduced myself.
So, after 12 years, here we go :p

I was born in 1986 and live in a small village called Sinaai, Belgium.

I work as a volunteer in a small music club that specialises in folk music and world music for more than 6 years now.
The reason that I only work as a volunteer and don't have a normal job is because I suffer from psychological problems since the early 2000's. It wasn't until 2011 that I got diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and in 2015 tests pointed out that I also had a (light) form of autism. I did a normal job for a short time (did an administrative job for the Christian Union), but a normal job is just way too much for my brain to handle. I simply just cannot work 5 whole days a week, that's just too much for my poor brain to deal with.
The bureau that helps people to get a job said to me it was better that I didn't do a normal job anymore, because they find me not productive enough for a normal job.
Luckily, I enjoy my volunteering job. I have alot of variety in my work and the colleagues are also fun people to work with. I also don't have a desire for a normal job anymore, I'm fine with my situation as it is.

So in my free time, I like to listen to some good music. In my life I listened to different genres of metal. I've had a technical and brutal death metal period. Followed by years of grindcore. The last 5 years or so I'm more into black metal, and especially the more avant-garde and experimental form. I also like some industrial black. Other genres I (still) dig are death metal, nu-metal and also some doom- and industrial metal from time to time. I also like different electronical genres and even some jazz. I'm also a sucker for pop music from the eighties and nineties, especially the wrong genre that is called eurodance :p

Furthermore I like watching movies, all kinds of genres. Only genres I don't like are romantic movies and war movies. Have a big love for horror, allthough I don't watch horror that often anymore. I also like crime, thriller, action, sci-fi, documentary, drama and comedy.

I used to game alot back in the day, but I've grown out of it, so not really interested in gaming anymore, only very often.

Fan of RSCA (Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht), a soccer club. And also fan of the Belgian Red Devils (our national soccer team).

In my free time I also like to go to the pub with friends, allthough I don't drink alcohol. I also don't smoke and don't do any other kind of drugs.
Going to concerts is also something I like to do, but don't do that so often anymore. And once in a while I go to the cinema.

Politically I more of a left winger.

So, that's all I can come up with now. After 12 years of being on this board I hope this is an introduction that is good enough :p

Hello Everybody !

I'm a fairly ordinary fellow whose taste in metal ( as well as music in general ) runs the gamut , however I usually find myself preferring tunes of the so called old school variety ...

I also have a keen interest in history and bird watching as well as engaging in productive discussions regarding a variety of topics ...

I look forward to contributing to the many threads that dot this forum as well as creating a few of my own in time .

Welcome - the site needs more power metal nerds !

Favourite black metal band is Morrigan, favourite death metal band is sadistic intent favourite all time song is the first track off of paysage d'hiver self titled... I like doom as well favourite thrash band is Sodom. I make home recordings where I play everything. Planning to move to Montreal in September for school if all pans out...

Well hi, it's been a long time since I last came here. Let's cut a long story short with some exposition

I was previously CapricornSupernaut, a weird teenager with Asperger's who probably got on some people's nerves. Now I'm here as BirthOfDisease, a weird adult with Asperger's, hopefully not getting on people's nerves this time.

I recently - within the past few months - came to terms with the fact I am trans, and am slowly becoming more comfortable with being who I really am, and my friends know me as Chloe, which is nice.

I like black metal in pretty much all flavours, strong preference going to black/speed a la Midnight, 1st-wave stuff and also classic Norwegian bands. I also really fuck with brutal death, slam, and deathcore, and have had the most fun of my life at slam shows, they know how to party. To top it off, I really love punk and hardcore, particularly the UK82 bands - Discharge, The Exploited, GBH and the like.

That's all I care to say in this post alone, I hope to participate here more again, I kinda missed it.
