Should be interesting.

Oh nice! It's mighty tasty (and 1/10 of the price of a Westvleteren! ;) ) My wife had some of it too and we both really enjoyed it. It's everything you'd expect from a Belgian-style barrel-aged quad: rich, fruity, musty, boozy... I don't have a refined enough palette to tell you how it'd differ from other quads, but enough to confidently say that you shouldn't be disappointed.

That's fun that you home-brew. I dabbled with home-brewing and had a lot of fun with it. Some batches were better than others, but never had a bad batch which was pretty sweet. But I ended up getting rid of all my stuff prior to moving. Maybe one of these days I'll get back into it...

Wait, those are homebrews? Whenever I saw you post them on untappd I thought it was a bit weird you only seemed to drink one brewery exclusively

Ha that would be weird indeed :P
Mostly homebrews yes, might crack some bought ones the coming weekend.
Just got some new ones from ''Stigbergets'' and my favorite Norwegian brewery ''Kinn''
+ some heavy stouts, will probably save them for Autumn.

Beer is, indeed, good. About to have an early porter for Christmas Eve shortly.

No porters down here as it's warm-to-fucking-unbearable Australian summertime (and Xmas day), so it's all about easy drinking pales and big, juicy IPA's for the most part.

Currently got a case of Stone & Wood Pacific ale and one of Two Birds pale ale.

Pacific ale is delicious, and easy to put away many of. The Two Birds is maltier, a tad sweeter with a nice enough round finish, though it needs to be damn cold.

I had one bottle of Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron that's been sitting in the back of my fridge for well over a year. Finally decided Christmas is the time to indulge myself.

I ought to do this with this beer more often.

I read somewhere the recommended temperature but can't find it anymore.

I'm no connoisseur, I see a cool label and I give it a taste. This method has served me well in the past, as it's how I got into metal after discovering an Iron Maiden cover for the first time. I therefore end up trying a lot of overpriced Dark Crops beers.

None were more overpriced than this Rotting Christ beer.

Strong stuff.

At this time of the year I am mainly into stouts and porters, with this one from my local brewery being my favourite:-

https://acorn-brewery.co.uk/beer/old-moor-porter/

However, there is also another localish beer that is not a porter or stout but is only available at Christmas so you have to get it while you can - it's called Belgian Blue and is a sort of a bitter with a slight fruit aftertaste and a blue/purple colour to it. I'm not selling it very well but it's beautiful.

The one with gulden draak and aechtung. Both of them are pretty good if sided with food. Don't drink them without anything to eat especially gulden draak 11,5% v/v alcohol. Very strong. Aechtung I have the bottle for 2 months and it smells pretty good a mixture of cacao and alcohol. Great scent. Leffe is also one of my favourites. Very sweet flavour and very light. Kronenburg blanc is like a cider but less sweet has orange in it I think. Also one of my faves.

Rocky Cellar is my favorite commercially available Hungarian beer ...

As far as beer in countries with a much more highly developed beer culture go , I'm gonna have to think on that for a bit , because I generally just quaff whatever comes to hand when I'm in said countries ...

Sierra Nevada have never disappointed me.
Always good tasting beers.
This one was also nice.
Nice loeads of hops, and a lingering bitternes.
Lovely caramel like taste from the malts.

Anyone else have something good in the glass?

Ordered some nice beers from BeerWulf. Going to get the Gonzo Imperial Porter by Flying Dog Brewery soon because it's the American Craft Beer week.

For me it's between Guinness and Murphy's. But we have good beer here in the Philippines. I prefer San Miguel Pale Pilsen than Red Horse. Red Horse is stronger but the Pale Pilsen has better taste.

Been drinking Yuengling's black and tan for the past year or two now as my regular. It goes down so easily, hits just enough, isn't heavy on the stomach, and doesn't sneak up on me like lighter drinks. Still, can't help but have a 12 beer night once in a while with all this latest shit going on.

It's a good steady brew for me at least.

Something I loved was Merry Monks by Weyerbacher. That and another beer that I can't remember the exact maker of were some good finds.

There was this beer called rauchbier, it had an aftertaste like a smoky cask; it was heavy, dark, and all kinds of German. Came in large singles. I'd like to get some more of those for the next time my fire tribe can get together.
