See? At least on the internet anyways, green is most common.

Oh yeah, here's the reference version.

I don't know, judging from your responses the bottom right corner should say quite the opposite. Childish twat. What kind of a peaceful person thinks it's fine to take the life of someone who breaks into your house?

Nothing "edgy" about it, its a pretty common thought it America, especially in Texas.

Relax. It's for amusement, I didn't make it.

Regardless, I would consider myself relatively peaceful, seeing as how defence is the response to initiated aggression. If you trespass, or steal/attempt to steal, you have initiated aggression, not me.

I also disagree with your assertion that one must be going out of their way to be "edgy" in order to value that which they have invested their energy in more than that which they have not. You cannot prove to me that human life has any objective meaning whatsoever, nor that I ought to be bound by "human decency" against my own interest.

If everyone whose rights are violated were allowed to punish the trespasser in any way they saw fit, the entire justice system would be based on arbitrary, emotional and irrational standards. If crimes of such different severity all have the same capital punishment, I don't need to tell you that the burglar will be more likely to murder you in your sleep in order to secure a safe escape and succesful burglary, as a gruesome example. Justice system wise, you'd be far closer to anarchy than you'd like. Shooting and killing a burglar, as opposed to merely snaring or disabling him, is clearly just vengeful and irrational. The result would be error-prone, irrational and motivated by desire for punishment rather than maintaining perfect law and order.

Since these things are quite deeply embedded in some cultures, I can't blame you for lacking compassion, but in a more urban environments people with your attitudes would likely be considered as asperger's cases or sadists. Even what are called savage cultures by some generally recognise the inherent value of a human life. I don't know how worthwhile people actually are and how much credit they really deserve, but a functioning society tends to require some recognition of an inherent value for human lives.

Whenever I see people say that trespassers / burglars deserve to be killed it leaves me with the impression that they really want to kill someone, and have someone justify it for them. I'd say that's a Bad Thing to encourage in society, really. At the very least, revenge fantasies are unhealthy to encourage.

Not particularly. But it's a godforsaken holiday made worse when spent with godforsaken people.

Even though I don't really have a say when it comes to parenting since I am a teenager and not a parent, this is good parenting ([Controversial Humor] Cell posted this on Facebook):

Regardless of whether or not it's good parenting, I feel like it'd be better if people didn't post that type of thing on the internet.

Fuck, sorry to hear it, man.

As for that kid having to give back the PS3, I'm not so sure that's good parenting, especially when they put it on the internet (which I'm sure would be at least somewhat humiliating). I'm sure it will cause a lot of resentment.

Suppose I'll join in:

This "me-reduced-to-a-easter-egg-colored-political-grid-map" post trend is going to get really annoying unless it culminates in something really worthwhile... like if all of them are collected at the end to create one of those mosaic images of Metantoine's face.

It wasn't one of those "Like if..." pictures. He found it on a website (in which was posted by someone who saw it on Facebook) and posted it on his page. But I have to agree, embarrassing him on the internet is too far. But having him return his PS3 because he didn't want an action figure can teach him a lesson about being ungrateful and spoiled (which is some what the parents fault).

Getting an action figure is a shit present?? I would've picked the action figure over a PS3 any day. Unlike the PS3, I could do all kinds of experiments on that toy.

In fairness that looks like a pretty shitty Captain America figure. From the picture it seems like there's zero articulation and he's stuck in that pose, like he's just supposed to sit on your shelf or whatever. As a kid I would have gotten no enjoyment out of that whatsoever.

So far today, I've done some curls, sat around watching movies, drew a picture of a robot chasing a kid who's flying a kite, and listened to metal, all of which happened at work. The joys of watching an empty warehouse. Dinner with my Mom later today, so my day could end up like that of Necroticism174. SO, if that's the case, I'll take a few shots for you at the bar tonight.

Agreed. It reeks of "look at how great of a job we think we're doing at parenting and we want to make sure ALL of you know it!" A healthy combination of self-congratulatory masturbation and vicarious living through their social media outlet of choice rather than keeping disciplinary actions in-house, as I'm sure our parents did. And yes, the non-functional, statuesque "action figure" is kind of less than stellar. Fine if you're a collector, but what's a kid going to do with that outside of trying to get it to do something and ultimately breaking it?

Well he can do what I did with my toys when I was little. He can put it in a clear plastic cup (probably need a cup slightly bigger than the toy) and put it in the freezer so it could freeze, torture it (slice it's head up, etc.), etc.

Just saw one of the most bizarre images I've ever seen on a DVD. On my little brother's new Barney DVD, the Barney logo aired...followed by the Lionsgate opening vanity plate. The same that appeared in front of the Saw movies. It was just so completely weird that I actually did a double take.

Yeah, I'll let a random stranger walk into my house with my family, loot me of my possessions, possibly do harm to my family, and of course depend on police which arrive too late to take a statement from me. Not to mention its not the entire justice system we're dealing with, its the states that have common sense laws regarding defense of property, which you conveniently left out when trying to reference that case when the guy shot those two kids.

Quote:

No one is invoking crimes of any other nature other than defense of property when it is warranted, this may or not have
the requisite use of deadly force. Your second statement is idiotic and is dependent on whatever motive he has entering a property, chances are if he is armed and wanting to steal my stuff and or kill or rape my family- it all comes down to common sense, would you rather die sleeping or use a minute chance to defend yourself, property, and loved ones. Once again, you don't have to aim to kill him, you could always shoot to immobilize him, as for being vengeful I don't even have the words to describe how laughable that sentiment is. He is entering your house with unknown intentions, and you have the option to defend your belongings and people you cherish, I would hope people that aren't overly sentimental morons would choose to defend what they hold dear. Once again, to disprove your stupid claim about being "Vengeful" you could always just shoot to immobilize.
Quote:
The result would be error-prone, irrational and motivated by desire for punishment rather than maintaining perfect law and order.
Not if its encoded and based on common sense, i,e not shooting the people multiple times with clear indications of malice aforethought.

More bullshit Armchair psychological claims, I honestly don't care what the cultural implications are, unless you really are sadist I don't think anyone here would at least surrender their homes to an intruder without even offering some degree of provoked force.

You don't know how worthwhile human beings are but can make normative statements about American society that supposedly "doesn't value" human life? Last time I checked civilization wasn't unraveling because people could defend their property/families, if you want to live in some egalitarian fantasy land where people can traipse up to your house at night, steal your possessions, and possibly do harm to your family when you are of a sound mindset to defend yourself and the laws of your nation allow this relatively common sense practice, then maybe you don't value the lives of those precious to yourself. Not to mention I'd tend to value the lives of those closest to myself than some random asshole who thinks he can help himself to my things, possibly harm my family, all the while in AZ I have the right to at least immobilize him until police arrive.
