You are correct in your assumptions, and I will admit that though I do like it now, I may find my interest waning in it over an extended period of time. In saying that though, I still find it interesting, and will give it some more time and listening.

Tonight is just a great night to blast Powerage. That's AC/DC's best album btw imo.

Yes, I want to get this, too. I liked what I heard from it when I sampled Sentinel months ago, and I still haven't gotten around to getting it.

Y'all're just as brainwashed as the hypothetical subjects the album carries on about! It isn't awful but man the sound is so lifeless, the songs so unmemorable, and Sabin is honestly a terrible vocalist.

That's BastardHead's favorite album of all time, I'm just putting this here before people get buttfrustrated by his opinion.

Not gonna reach an agreement on this one, man. The fact that Think This sounds basically like what a prog rock band giving thrash a shot would sound like is a huge turn on for me, while it seems to be the opposite for you. Its weaknesses to you are its strengths for me, and vice versa. One thing though; in what kind of backwards dimension is Sabin a terrible vocalist? Power, control, attitude, good vocal melodies..... I hear nothing wrong with him.

Basically he's the thrash equivalent of Warrel Dane. He sings in basically whatever key he feels like and it almost never meshes well with the music. It's like they told him to just hit a lot of notes, make them high. And he said "Alrighty, MY HIGH TECH MERCEDEEEEES"

First two Annihilator albums are cool though. Not amazing, but solid and technical in a nice way.

Yeah, my review is embarrassingly outdated but I do still like Alice in Hell a good amount. I maintain it's their only really worthwhile album, though to be fair I don't think I listened to the follow up more than once. They're this odd technical thrash band that was never really technical or thrashy after the first two albums.

I admit though, I have a soft spot for Waking the Fury. I have no idea why, there are only two worthwhile songs ("Ultra Motion" and "Cold Blooded"), but damn I really like those two songs!

In other news, I posit to you all a question. Have you ever stumbled across an album whose cover art was so brazenly stupid that you just had to hear what the band sounded like? My last one before five minutes ago was Merciless Conquest by Morbid Carnage. I mean really, a werewolf preacher with an assault rifle in a graveyard? "Man, that's like if you got a third grader stoned and asked him what the coolest thing ever was", I said to myself.

And then today, I found this:
Image

The armored ostrich from Joust with fucking eyezerbeams?! If this ends up sucking, I'm sending the band an angry letter.

I'm listening to them right now. I really can't make a more detailed judgement on their sound as I don't listen to enough power metal to do so. It's not very interesting though. Quite boring and generic sounding.

The sound is INCREDIBLE! and if you don't agree, you might as well tar and feather yourself. Seriously though, every time I listen to that album I get something new out of it. Not to mention it has so much going for it. Tight, proficient playing, along with great vocals and in your review you said it's not as crazy as their last album. Admittedly, I haven't listened to their album many times, compared to think this, BUT that's what I like about think this. It's melodicness is one of it's major strong aspects for me. I feel like I can actually relax when I listen to that album, and it takes a certain caliber of metal music to do that for me.

This isn't the post your picture thread, but I wanted to share with you folks a picture of my antique glass liquor bottle. I don't drink, and besides, the cap is all rusty and I'd get tetanus or something  I found it at an antique shop a few months ago, and I thought it was badass so I picked it up.

Yeah three tracks in and it's pretty paint-by-numbers Euro PM, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing for me. The melodies are nice and the songs are pretty catchy. Vocals and guitar tone are pretty weak but that's a really common problem in the scene so I'm pretty forgiving of such a thing.

Also, Bastard, if you want something to do a "holy shit, this sucks" review for a la the two non-Great Stone War Winds of Plague albums, there's always this.

Seems to me like the lyrics to that song are exactly what everyday people think metal lyrics are like. Just a fat guy screaming, "PURE FUCKING HATE!"

Also, as the top comments point out, their drummer looks unhealthely thin.

It's really like they watched the Never Trust video by Endworld and decided to try and one up that staggering display of suck with their own brodowncore anthem of complete and utter crap. Not really surprising either considering that the entire instrumental lineup from the album they did with Erik Rutan is gone, leaving only Fatty McStupidHat left.

That's pretty crappy music if I ever heard some. They all just ooze that kind of obnoxious edgy attitude and they look like wiggers. I kind of wonder what people who listen to this kind of music enjoy about it. I found it literally difficult to watch.

People that genuinely enjoy that kind of music and display in all the stereotypical of a scenecore bro just seem like such pleasant people to interact with.

You guys have no idea how glad I am that wiggers and "scene bros" don't exist here in Argentina. Closest thing we get is harmless (if rather ignorant) trendy kids who are into Suicide Silence and have earlobes so stretched you could fuck them. They never cause a hassle though, based on what I seen, beyond being taken out of pits in local shows for flailing their legs and arms around and thus bothering people.

When that video first came out, I showed it to a buddy of mine who is a big deathcore/hardcore/brocore fan and asked his opinion. He liked it, based on the fact that it was stupid and brutal, which is really all he expects out of bands like that. I guess he isn't wrong really, but DAMN it's just so bad!

It's those fucking earlobes man.

Also, there's another video from that shitty Annotations EP, featuring the absolute lamest gang vocal line I've ever heard ("SO SUCK MY FUCKING DICK!")

Just finished writing a review for that Annotations EP. Here's a brief snippet of it.

Quote:
I know many will cry afoul at an absolute negative score of zero percent, just like many cry similarly afoul at a score of one hundred percent, but in the case of Dark Days there is no other score that fits the sheer lack of anything creative, original, interesting, listenable, or smart in this EP's 18 or so minutes of aural sodomy. There are only four songs, but every single one of them run together 99.99998% of the time. Every slam, every chuggachugga breakdown, every lame attempt at sounding "brutal" sounds exactly like the one that just came before it. This is an album built upon the false idea that more slamming = more brutal. Sorry to break it to you Emmure wannabes, but playing mid-tempo range chugging with a production quality tailor made to make you sound as heavy as possible is not brutal. God of Emptiness is both brutal and haunting. Cannibal Corpse is brutal. Dark Days is not brutal. Dark Days does not deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as "brutal". Each song, while being incredibly stupid as a whole, has its own standout moment where you just pause your audio player and facepalm as hard as you possibly can. The pinnacle moment of stupidity in this regard comes on the very first track, "Buried in a Bad Rep"; at about :57 we hear a choir of gang vocal bros shout in the lamest, most uninterested manner possible, "SO SUCK MY FUCKING DICK!". It's moments like this that really make me wonder why it had to be Chuck Schuldiner and Quorthon that died young. We really need them nowadays.
