Interesting, but I'm surprised this qualifies as dubstep. However, I need to check out more things ambient and if this isn't ambient in some way I don't know what is. I can certainly dig the atmosphere.

Yeah, I mean, I not familiar enough with the genre as a whole to know what the exact musical parameters of dubstep are, but Distance is certainly a part of the scene, or at least was in the mid-00s. This may be a better example. Regardless of genre, his albums are excellent imo.

I saw Hirax, Agent Steel, Bonded By Blood, Midnight, and Demolition yesterday. Technically today, as the show ended at 1:00am.

I love Hirax now. Katon was all over the fucking place, and he was just amazing. You can TELL the man loves metal, AND the fans. He gave me the horns, he gave me a brofist(twice!), he shook my hand anad many other hands as well, HE WAS SCREAMING RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE, and he made constant eye contact with a fuckload of fans, and me as well. One guy got up on stage, and as security was approaching him to throw him off, this happens. Made my heart melt. Also: Midnight FUCKED SHIT UP. The whole place went crazy when they started, and I kept falling in the pit because it was just so fucking intense. Bought a CD/DVD combo for 5 BUCKS. WORTH IT.

But after all that, I have to say that the Key Club sucks. The tickets and site said "Doors open at 6:30," Bonded By Blood said 7:30, but the bullshit security took so long, and started letting people in at 7:50-ish, and as a result there were STILL people trying to get in once Demolition finished up (a VERY sick band, btw). That made me sad. Also, there is a mandatory $5-drink purchase.

I am sore. Very sore.

Katon is renowned for his awesomeness. Looks like it was an awesome show.

Didn't know that Dorman Lee of Iron Butterfly is dead. Is strange. I didn't see a new in the internet. I know it by a local newspaper, and this is very sad. First him, and then Scaccia. A bad Christmas indeed.

Just did one of those political compass test things again.

Image

And heading into 2013, I am at about the same as I was on this graph when I last took it back in June.

Economic Left/Right: -6.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56

In the nearly two years since I first took this, I am a bit more right than I used to be, but I am still pretty much entirely a dirty left wing CommuNazi that wants to take away your guns, God, and make rich people pay more.

Unfortunately, it was Masters of Metal, so no John Cyriis. It was this guy, forgive me because I don't know his name. :(
He was good on vocals, and he apologized because he did not know some of the words, but the crowd supported him fully once he hit those sexy, high notes. Crowd went crazy for the Unstoppable Force tracks. I went crazy to Never Surrender.

Wait, so Bernie Versailles is doing the vocals for them? What the fuck?! I thought Rick Mythiasin was their singer now! Hell, I didn't even know Bernie could sing.....

Ah yes! He did a great job too, seeing as he was doing both duties! The crowd loved him for that.

Well, it's good to hear that, though I'm sad that Rick doesn't seem to be part of the AS crew anymore :(

What was Bernie's voice like, Wombat? I'd like to know.

@Subrick: just did that little test. Ended just slightly more to the left than you :-P

There's a good example. He did apologize for not knowing some of the words so forgive him please.

Oh man, Overkill + Testament with 4arm (never heard of them). I need to go.

He didn't do too bad in my opinion, he hits those high notes like any common man would if he tried to shriek. I guess Cyriis is never going to sing for them again, it's a shame the guy is one of the best vocalists I've ever heard.

Still not sure how I feel about their side of this split. It's great and all, but they sound way more metal than they used to.

Their cover of D.R.I.'s "Couch Slouch" is still fucking amazing though. Chris Elder sounds like he's having the biggest tantrum ever and it's the greatest shit ever. Shit, his vocals are probably my favorite aspect of the band.

I woke up to some noise, and it turned out that the youngest daughter had noticed Horna, the younger cat, playing with a live mouse in the living room. The mouse has been saved now, to honour the spirit of Christmas, and will be released to a nearby abandoned house on Boxing Day, after a bit of feeding and rest.

This explains why Mokoma, the older feline, has been sulking in the basement for a few days and nights. He's not very skilled in catching anything, but being a cat, he seems to detect rodents quite well.

I got -5.88 left/right and -7.49 libertarian/authoritarian.

Also the 2012 elections section is depressing.

I swear to god, that's the most common position on the chart to get. 90% of people I see take that test end up around there.

Am I the only one here who does not believe in "real music"? Music is music, no matter how you view it. Just because you like one form of music, doesn't mean that it is real music and everything else isn't.

Yes. You are most definitely the only person on Earth who has ever felt that way about music.
