Been in a mental fog for a few days (concussion induced), got up yesterday to a foggy morning but a clear head. It felt nice to be lucid again.

Needed a haircut but the salons are obviously closed, so my wife gave me one at home - except the first attempt accidentally gave me a bowl cut, so we said fuck it and went all-in on a buzzcut, which I haven't had since grade school. And no, I haven't given much of a shit about shaving since going on lockdown.

Hahahahahahahahahaha that's an interesting look for you. I haven't been taking care of the facial hair either, fuck it. I dare you to shave it all off and keep just the 'stache.

I'm a little late on this one. Yesterday was the Transgender Day of Visibility. This popped back up on my social feeds last night. From the Trans March on Washington back in September, with comrades from the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Only socialism will break the chains of oppression!

There is no configuration of capitalist society, no spin of the Rubik's Cube, where oppressed and working people get to truly count, to enjoy full human dignity, or live free of exploitation. We have 175 years and millions upon millions of pages of historical analysis and works of political economy that explains why this is so, but the tldr version is something like this; there are too many dickheads and everything is for sale. The only way out is to smash the current system and replace it with one based not on the private accumulation of wealth, power and control, but rather on harnessing the immense productive capacities developed by humans so that all of us can live in dignity, free from want and able to pursue our full potential. We can't get there from here under capitalism. Capitalism is the disease; socialism is the cure.

Socialism itself is not the cure, that is the slippery slope naysayers are counting on. What you are referring to is Democratic Socialism, which is DEFINITELY the cure.

Red dress and floppy hat, bottom right.

Democratic socialism is a liberal reformist movement. It seeks change within the existing framework, and while it is a laudable impulse and much of what democratic "socialists" advocate for is necessary on a point-by-point basis, it does not attempt and will not accomplish the necessary structural/systemic changes we need to survive and thrive. The repetition of the Bernie 2016 fiasco here in 2020 pretty clearly demonstrates, in any event, that the ruling classes will not simply allow us to vote their power away.

So I decided to shave my beard a bit after shelter-in-place started in my neck of the woods. As I'm pretty sure is customary for pretty much any fella shaving his beard, I did the beard first and left the 'stache just long enough to snap this photo.

For anybody thinking of growing a mustache, it apparently instantly ages you by 20 years.

Almost never, does a mustache look good. Just my opinion. Like you said, it always makes someone look like an old man. As soon as the quarantine started I also shaved my beard. It was just getting at an epic length. I don't know, it just started driving me crazy. Never again. I look ridiculous now without a beard. Just can't do it anymore.
