Definitely vampire cat, it reminded me of this funny bat photo, quite a priceless expression on its face too!

Or something like that

He's good at facial expressions. Especially here, when he was expressing his joy at receiving a Christmas sweater

Yeah, looks like cataract. But it's really cool that you took good care of Odin  I hate people who mistreat their pets or don't give them adequate medical attention.

This here is Coconut, she passed away this morning:

Spoiler: show
Image

I found her abandoned outside of a bowling alley with (what I assume was) her sister about four years ago. She never grew much bigger than kitten sized, so she was always funny when curled up with my other cat, who is gigantic. About three months ago, she basically stopped eating and would throw up everything she did manage to eat. I took her to the vet, who said he wasn't sure what was wrong and told me to give her this medicine and try giving her wet food. It didn't work, vet never could figure out what was wrong, nothing he suggested worked, nothing we tried on our own worked.

Not the best way to wake up, let me tell ya...

Condolences about your cat, you rescued her and gave her four years of good living that she wouldn't have had otherwise, so there's been a bright side for her.

Three or four clubs from the dull hatchet later, he has pains in his legs from a spine bruise.

Thanks y'all. I'm amazed she lasted as long as she did once she got sick. That actually makes it all the more heartbreaking. Like, goddamn we should have figured out something in those three months.

Condolences to BastardHead, may Coconut rest peacefully. Sounds like you cared a lot for her.

Regarding Odin: Nope, not a cataract. After the eye was removed the vet dissected it and found a cat claw. I suppose he got into a scrap with another kitty whose claw became lodged in his eye. His former owners didn't think it was necessary to seek medical attention, by the time he wandered into our house - emancipated himself from his former family to live with some cooler people - he was completely blind in that eye and the lodged claw was pushing on his optic nerve, causing him a lot of discomfort. The vet scooped out his eye, sewed the socket shut and he's good as new! Odin now enjoys a fulfilled life of constant naps, a little too much food, and the occasional massacre of a mouse or small bird.

I found her outside of the bowling alley I worked at at the time. My boss and I opened the back door to the little alleyway so we could get on to the roof, and when we opened the door these two kittens just came wandering inside. We took a bunch of slag and a cardboard box and made a makeshift litterbox for them (neither of them used it) and mashed up some chicken from the food court for them (they didn't eat it). One of the other mechanics and I decided to give them homes, and I chose her because when they first ran in the shop and I knelt down near them, she climbed up my pant leg, on to my back, and started rubbing the back of my neck, purring like a maniac. The other one only lasted about six months apparently before she died unexpectedly, and I don't think it was neglect since the mechanic who took her in has always had at least two pets under his care for the past thirty years, so he knew what we was doing. Who knows?

Since this seems like a place for pet pics as much as anything:

Image

We miss her a lot. Had to re-home her last spring after she bit our young son on more than one occasion (in the face). She is incredibly sweet with everyone but gets very nervous around small children. It was one of those situations where every choice you can make is a bad one. I felt like such a shitty person to be giving her away but keeping her would have meant condemning her to a lonely life banished to a spare room or muzzled most of the time. Why couldn't it have been the cats?

Just going to put this out there, but that is terrible form and would be an extremely painful execution. The hatchet itself, the way it's held, and the fact it'd need numerous hacks just to get right would lead to a long-lasting and brutal execution. *cringes*

The man on the chopping block deserved neither a merciful nor painless demise. The form, the dull axe, the empty liquor bottles strewn around the base of the stump - all intentional. Now spare me your impudence.
