I still only really care about their first 3 albums. after that I guess I checked out. nothing new or special about them.

I can't get over how in love with this album I am nowadays. Seriously, shit gets wrecked at 1:02. The band's energy is just out of this world.

I honestly couldn't get into the last two God Dethroned albums. I must've listened to them a couple of times and I have zero recall on most of the songs there. The albums that I listen to the most are - Bloody Blasphemy, Ravenous, Grand Grimoire and Toxic Touch (albeit it has the modern, less rawer production and sound) quite often.

Fortunately, my internet connection hasn't been slow as shit tonight; allowing me to listen to Exodus' entire discography.

Unfortunately, I have to go to work in about two hours and I haven't gone to sleep.

Woo, as of today (tonight?) I'm 19, the legal drinking age in British Columbia. Now I can go to bars and buy ridiculously overpriced beer!

The fun of drinking seriously lost its appeal once I was legally allowed to do it.

I started when I was already 16 (legal drinking age for non-hard liquor in Austria) so I never knew that intense thrill of raging against da man.

Well, I guess I had some liquor before 18... FUCK THE POLICE

Me too, in presence of a parent, because then it's totally legal (seriously). It's called beer culture.

Hell you can legally get your toddler drunk if you do it within your own walls (might count as child abuse in 9 out of 10 cases though).

I started drinking and smoking weed when I was 14. I was more in to weed than drinking though. Gradually that reversed and I even stopped smoking for a few years. Totally disagree that drinking loses its fun once it's legal. Some of my best drinking memories are from first year university.

Having fun with any drug largely depends on your ability to correctly assess yourself and what the drug does to you. Minors are pretty bad at that.

Indeed, honestly that's why I stopped weed, it had too much of an affect on me and it was starting to be all I cared about. It's odd, after taking a break for 2 years I could smoke it and be totally fine with it. I guess your brain chemistry changes a lot during this period. I mean last weekend I smoked 4 times a day for two days, didn't even get over the top but if I was 15 again I would have been totally fucked out of my mind.

Drunkeness is no longer something done to celebrate or to drown sadness. Drunkeness is simply just another state of mind that inevitably happens these days.

Same with me up until this summer, as I'm giving it a rest until uni starts up again. It was getting pretty ridiculous, a lot of times we'd already have had quite a bit to drink by noon and get drunk and go to bars about 4 or 5 times a week. I've really spent way too much money on alcohol these past few years, some good memories as well as some not so good (won't get into the McDonald's drive thru incident) came of it though.

Me too, damn. I could have spent all that money on cds and whatever, or maybe, it sounds insane I know, save it. Not mention to costs to fix my car after I crashed it two times while drunk driving

Ugh. I was buying cheap shit ($5 bucks for a half liter) and ended up drinking almost an entire one a night for about three months - a terrible amount of money and terrible on the body and mood.

At least alcohol is cheap in America, in Canada it's taxed to hell and back. I think about 60% of what you actually pay is in tax.

Oh, I don't doubt it. Alcohol and guns man - cheap in America. There are worse places to be an alcoholic.

That's the problem with cheap alcohol, you chug all that stuff without any guilt. I'm much more cautious when drinking a 20$ wine bottle than a $6 one. I feel more inclined to moderate when the stuff I'm drinking costs more.

I've been into beer from 10-11, which is more or less the norm here. I don't abuse of drinking and I've been drunk very few times, without anything utterly terrible to regret.

I do have a sort of minibar where my wife and I drink from time to time.

Here alcohol is quite cheap (usd $1,5/1,7 per liter of average to low quality beer aprox). The really good stuff costs around $5.

^When I went to Chile there were wine bottles at about $1 in supermarkets, way cheaper than the cheapest brands here. Beer wasn't really that cheaper when compared to here, although it seems Chile has more variety as Brazil is dominated by samey-tasting stuff.

I remember being absolutely shocked when I went to NYC that you could buy a 6 pack for 4 bucks and a bottle of wine for 5.

As recently as a year ago I could get a $3 six pack and I think I can still get bottles of wine that cost $2.29 and are absolutely awful.

Jesus Christ. You won't ever see six packs for double that here even for shitty beers. I've almost never seen a twelve pack for below $13 and even then it's for awful swill like PBR. Even for the absolute worst wine you won't see cheaper than $7, and usually it's much more expensive. I think the tax here is ridiculous. Also, the provincial government basically has a monopoly on hard liquor with the LCBO and grocery and convenience stores aren't allowed to sell beer. Probably the most draconian and needlessly restrictive alcohol laws in North America.

As someone who's gotten in trouble for smoking grass in public, I can assure you that's not completely true. Although I'm sure enforcement here is much more laxed.

Yeah, I'm not planning on spending tons of money on booze. I'm far too cheap and I'd rather spend money on something that has lasting appeal, like the bass guitar my birthday money partially helped buy.

Well, things vary quite a bit from place to place in the US. There are entire dry towns where no alcohol is sold (even in restaurants). There may be entire dry counties in the midwest or something. Some states have really crazy laws regarding alcohol. I know in Pennsylvania, you can only buy small quantities (i.e. single bottles or six packs of beer) from restaurants/delis for some reason, which don't usually have a good selection. There are "beer stores" but you have to buy by the case. I think there are state monopoly stores for liquor and wine. My county here in Maryland has lots of Beer & Wine stores that don't sell hard liquor. All hard liquor is sold in county-run stores. Grocery stores and the like can't sell beer or wine with a few exceptions (stores that were grandfathered in, I think).

Really the only uniform thing is that the drinking age is 21 across the country.

I've never put much thought into the price of drink over-here compared to the rest of the world... the cheapest I generally opt for is supermarket-own-value Rose wine for £3.99, or 6 250ml bottles of beer for about £2.99 or so. The latter only seem to exist in supermarkets slightly too far away to be practical though.

Also, the word is that there is going to be a nation-wide block on online pornography, unless you explicitly opt to have it unblocked by the
service provider. Never before have so many people contemplated the fact that dystopian society is only a few steps away.

I wasn't really thinking of on a municipal level, but the whole concept of a "dry town" seems kind of odd to me. People can still drive over to the next town to buy beer. And honestly, I think that it would increase drunk driving as you'd need a car to get to a bar since there would be none in your town. One of the weirdest thing about the American minimum age is that states are allowed to go lower, but they'll lose some federal funding if they do so.

In PA, grocery stores are also allowed to sell beer if they have a separate restaurant type thing with its own cashier and some other silly restrictions.

It was almost like a culture shock when I had to audit some West Virginia Wal-Marts and see that they had alcohol stocked on the shelves like everything else (I didn't have to audit that section).

I was just utterly depressed when I went on a beer journey through PA hoping to pick up some stuff that's not really distributed in Maryland (we can get all the good PA stuff here, but not some of the better midwest stuff that you can get in PA). I was like, fuck, I'd love to buy a bunch of Founders/Bell's/Great Lakes/New Holland/etc, but I don't want to have to buy it by the case :(

Edit: really digging this new album by The Haxan Cloak - brilliant dark ambient: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMYfqKe1NbI

I put cigarettes packs and beer cans in a blender and liquify that shit up, then I make an eye drop out of the liquid. Shit gets me higher than a plane.
