Yeah, both of those old albums are awesome. Satanist is surprisingly excellent, I just wish they would acknowledge the existence of their first few albums once in awhile. Seen them live 3 times now and nothing from back in the day

Moonspell Rites or Pure Evil and Hate would be nice to hear played live. Fantastic Behemoth songs from a great EP.

Hehe

Nah, they are funny as they are, though the context is really important and we can't capture it in the sigs.

EDIT: the other quote about female metalheads, though, was just perfect. The discussion was a nice context, but the phrase made a lot of sense alone, and I completely agreed with it.

Thanks, but I really thought it could have been worded in a more... quotable way. And I'd probably have felt that way about any alternative too. I'm self-conscious like that. Anyways, I'm glad people find me sig-worthy at all.

Grapefruits are legitimately the best for that. I rarely get hangovers, but I do get green around the gills, and grapefruit and water always works.

I'm a huge fan of grapefruit juice, especially on hungover mornings, but this is new to me. Good intuition I guess.

I actually thought it was pretty well known that grapefruit juice has that effect. It's a good thing it tastes like shit, otherwise it'd be abused more.

Just don't drink the concentrate stuff. Actual grapefruit juice tastes awesome. You know - like grapefruit.

British Steel is such a dull record. No matter how many times I listen to it; Breaking the Law, United and Living After Midnight are the only good tracks, which coincidentally were the three singles Judas Priest released.

It is a dull album, yes, but the latter two of the songs you mentioned are among the dullest on it and well, Breaking the Law is funny in a campy way. The best ones are obviously Rapid Fire and Steeler. Both a notch or two heavier, faster and more aggressive than the rest of the songs on the album.

Couldn't agree more. I love Breaking the Law and will never apologize for that, but other than that and Rapid Fire it's pretty close to being my least favorite Priest album.

All I want for Christmas this year is an announcement that this Malaysian airlines flight thing has been a JJ Abrams-organized extreme alternate reality game acting as a retconned ending for Lost.

So after nearly a year of growth, I cut my hair to help me get a temporary job before I become a full time student. But I still didn't get the one I was looking for, and I might not even find one that pays worthwhile in the limited job pool in my local area. So now I feel like a real sucker for giving up on an impulse, after toughing it through all the weird periods for a 7-9 months. :panda:

"Breaking the Law" should always be played twice as fast as the BS version, the way Sauron does it.

British Steel sounds like it was the outtakes of Hell Bent for Leather with one extra song.

Ohhhhh shit I've never heard the Sauron cover but I bet it's godly. I LOVE the Slough Feg cover of Breaking the Law, when they still had Omar Herd on vocals. He can't sing a lick but he has this super snotty tone, and the bass is just plunky and raw as hell. They definitely speed it up as well.

The more I think about it, I think Judas Priest was a bad choice for our theme this time. Locka Rolla and Postradamus are perfect, but we're bound to run into trouble on Turbo.

Now what would have rocked? Sabbath. Paraboard. Sabbath Bloody Sabbanned. Poster of Reality. Mod Rules. The Threadless Cross.

Y'all dropped the ball here.

There's nothing stopping us from breaking the trend, and just going with parodies of various metal albums for fun.

Personally, we've had a good run with Morbid Angel and Bathory and now Judas Priest. Perhaps it's time we diversify.

Mixed feelings on Hoagascht. Beagliachda and Nachteule had that awesome flute/piccolo lead that was just classic Lunar Aurora, but the rest of the songs didn't really stand out for me. The problem was that they seemed too padded with pauses, atmosphere breaks and sound effects - That worked on their past albums like Zyklus where the song length lent itself to long bits of atmosphere to break things up, but on on a 5-minute song like Beagliachda you have almost the entire first half of the track taken up with atmospheric noises, then a rushed 2.5 minutes of song without any time to explore the beautiful flute melody we've only heard twice. I dunno, it's not bad but it's definitely the weakest of anything they released after and including Ars Moriendi.

I barely ever listened to Lunar Aurora, I remember 2 songs on Andacht being awesome, but I didn't listen to much else.

Give Ars Moriendi a listen. Some of the most bizarre, surreal and vicious black metal I've ever heard. Like running through a forest being chased by strange abominations lurking just out of sight.

A lot of the band's die-hard fans don't care for the razor-sharp production and vocals on Andacht, but I think it's great, just a slightly more polished and atmospheric take on the Andacht atmosphere. And Zyklus is some great minimal, hypnotic BM in the veins of Hviss Lyset Tar Oss and Vikingligr Veldi. Really one of my favorite "traditional" black metal bands on the whole.

Also, that appears to have been your 666th post. :D
