Has anyone else seen The Brave Little Toaster? Did anyone else get scared shitless by it?

That movie was great. In retrospect, there were a lot of dark undertones to that movie. The scrap yard bit and the magnet was certainly scary for me as a kid.

@Menternor YES, exactly what I'm talking about! The scrapyard scene that Apex mentioned too, plus the basement scene with what I think was an air conditioner (if I remember correctly). But holy fuck that fireman/clown thing disturbed me when I was a kid.

I had a similar fear of watching Howard the Duck. And The Wiz. Just creeped the fuck out of me and I hated them.

Yeah, Howard the Duck always made me uneasy as a kid. I can't remember specifically why, though. I avoided that film like the plague when my brother would watch it.

I haven't been very active on the M-A for a while, and just noticed "friend" or "foe" additions. What's that all about? Also, are there benefits to having a friend or foe, or is it a way for people who don't agree to flame each other in the forums? Just wonderin'... Thanks.

I had the misfortune to watch that piece of shit a few years back, and though I agree with the general sense of unease it caused as a child, all I can say looking at it through adult eyes is that it fucking sucks.

 oh no no. I love me some 40 oz (KING COBRA 4 LYFE). I think Summer Shandy is def a tasty brew!

I just don't do "blackout" drinks - when I drink (every, single, day), I want to feel the drunk - half a bottle of vodka, a bottle of wine or two, whatever - and ride it out. Nothing should make you want to go to sleep because you're sick.

My parents got us (my sister and me) Watership Down when we were little. I guess they didn't know about the violent rabbit murders. I thought it was a great movie. To be fair, this is the Netherlands, so there has always been a relative abundance of nudity and violence on tv.

Very well done film but I hated it. So depressing when I was a kid...really wasn't what I was into at all back then.

This This always.

But I was never scared of it, my favorite scene was the song and all the cars getting crushed I just loved watching them getting killed basically. Like when one got smashed and his eye(headlight) popped out.

I still enjoy the fuck out of this. I think I watched it a few years ago again.. going to soon as well.

Hahahahaha yup! Eskimo is just about the ONLY wrong choice for a Residents starting point. Seriously, it's a great album... if you're already familiar with the band and where they're coming from. It's a fun and wacky sort of soundtrack romp, but without the context of the band's other work, it can be downright alienating.

It really is. I went in blind - it was either this one, or 'Third Reich and Roll', and I picked this one because I like eskimos more than I like Nazis.

After seeing this I decided to watch it again just now for the first time since I was a little kid... probably 5 or 6 years old. A lot of the scenes came back to me, specifically where they go through the "woods" and camp out for the first time, the fireman/clown nightmare thing, and the scrapyard. The scrapyard is still some of the best imagery I've seen in a movie. Needless to say I'm very happy I watched it again. Oh good times...

That's because animate toasters aren't awesome enough to have multiple generations of children clamoring for the 47,000th sequel like Littlefoot and his gang.

It's a film about a pot-smoking toaster steadily retreating into a fantasy world of his own nightmares. Like "requiem for a dream", but with appliances.

They made two sequels?? I only knew of BLT goes to mars, I'm gonna have o track this down now. And as far as Land Before Time is concerned this first one is pretty bad ass but after that I remember a 6 year old me getting quite bored with them.

Meh with Land Before Time. Even back in the day it was a watch once movie.

I never watched the sequels of BLT, I didn't know they had them till maybe awhile back but I refuse to watch.

Didn't bother with LBT sequels since the first one was meh to me I didn't care about any others.

TR&R actually has nothing to do with Nazis beyond the album and track names. It's basically two long jam sessions that blend together a number of classic rock and roll covers... heavily mutilated, of course. Incidentally, I still need to actually grab a physical copy of that one. That and Not Available and I -think- I'll have all of the "classic era" albums up to the Mole trilogy.

Re: Land Before Time: it's worth noting that the guy who created the ideas for the first one was not at all involved in any of the sequels. As in, the animation company licensed it out behind his back or some crap like that. Point is, they suck because they are basically professional bootlegs.

Land Before Time was pretty cool but I loved Brave Little Toaster as a kid. Bought the VHS at Goodwill a little while back and recently watched it with my daughter, still awesome.

I had ALL the Land Before Time movies on VHS and let me tell you, they don't even come close to the toaster. As much as I loved dinosaurs as a kid, there's only so much "YUP YUP YUP" I can take from that little yellow dinosaur. All the characters were either unlikeable (the little brontosaurus and triceratops) or too stupid (Petrie the pterodactyl and the mute guy).
