Yeah, that's an older story I think. I've seen it before. Can't say it's very surprising though, Man's sexual escapades know no boundaries.

Woops, obligatory 666 posts mention :hail:

In the last four years or so I heard about this a few times. I'm surprised you guys haven't heard it yet. People on the street already tried guilting me into donating to WWF with it.

The related story about the interview with a cannibal was also fucked up. Is that site solely dedicated to terrifying things?

Also, I've been reading about the whole Planet X/Nibiru conspiracy theory for an hour or two. I'm astounded at how people can be this retarded.

Ah yeah, the Japanese cannibal. Fuck that guy. Fuck him with a power drill.

Also, just gave that Nibiru/Planet X theory a look, and..... Well Crick, these are conspiracy theorists we're talking about. Their standards aren't exactly high.

Mormons believe in the planet Kolob and magic underwear.. and Mormonism is a reasonably established religion. The Nibiru theory doesn't seem so weird anymore.

Ow, and I love Vice to death.

I knew someone in high school who 100% believed in the Planet X thing. It's kind of amazing to me that people will just believe anything you tell them and they won't question it at all, especially things as crackpotty as that.

And you also have crackpot conspiracy theorists who get themselves off from knowing things that "sheeple" don't know... and yet they believe every single government/corporation-related conspiracy theory laid down in front of them regardless of the likelihood of it's truth.

The biggest truther I know can't spell 'corporation', go figure.

For an internet pro such as yours truly, it's really easy to tell it's a Photoshop, there are pixels in there. 648000 of them, to be precise.

Willow is great, and with the exception of the two-headed monster and a few other very bad effects, the kids even appreciated it; the story is quite OK. They also liked Conan. I will need to buy the original Star Wars trilogy soon, though. We've managed to avoid that for no particular reason so far.

For some odd reason, the oldest daughter seems to consider Russell Crowe's Master and Commander the best movie ever, which is strange. But any unorthodox suggestions on good fantasy and lightweight horror/comedy would be appreciated.

I'm always hesitant to suggest films I loved as a child. Nostalgia does all kinds of crazy shit to the brain. But the soundtrack to the 1980 Flash Gordon movie is too good not to recommend the film. It's certainly cheesy but I think that may be more of a feature than a flaw.

Which religion/crackpot theorie should I choose instead? Mormonism is an easy target, sure. But is magic underwear really that different from the unbelievable fish and bread multiplying trick? :-D

There's Scientology, although at this point anyone with half a brain knows how much bullshit that cult is made out of.

Really, every single system of dogma-based faith is equally insane to me.

On the Planet X thing, I watched von Trier's Melancholia not too long ago .. mixed feelings.

Napero: Movie Hunter -
I have a special place in my past for Legend. I just look the other way at the smarmy parts. Too much history there to let a little corn put me off. It's paint-by-the-numbers iconic fantasy featuring the grand Tim Curry. While adults may differ, it will most likely be well received.

edit: any interest in the Mad Max stuff?

For sci-fi I remember *batteries not included having merit, though that's a thickly-dusted opinion. And yes, as Starmere said, The Thing. Love that movie. Also, I fucking can't stand ET.

fyi for when you're looking for Star Wars: When I got the dvd's all that was offered were the first round of re-makes. The originals appeared on a BONUS DISC with only one small line of text on the back to let you know they were even there. So be sure to look carefully.

Exactly. I'm absolutely positive that if (for example) Christianity were the new kid on the block, and Scientology were the accepted 2000 years old religion, people would laugh at Christianity and revere L. Ron Hubbard.

Movies-

There's also Beetlejuice.
and if you want to wonder just what the fuck is going on, have a look at Nick Cage's Vampire's Kiss. It's really awful, but it's funny.

Kids' film update: Tried to watch Time Bandits but turned it off halfway through. Sucks pretty hard, almost like a Mel Brooks film with better design sense. Terry Gilliam rarely got it right, poor bastard. Expecting better things from Jabberwocky.

I like some Mel Brooks movies. :oh shit:

Sure, it's clunky American humor and a lot of the jokes are just plain bad, but still... considering some modern "comedies" don't have any jokes at all...

All that matters is that Gilliam got it perfectly right for Brazil.

Froggie, you only listen to garbage cans/racoon howling noise these days anyway.

And no, dude, Nile is usually well liked on the board, I like them myself (except their awful latest album).

Nile's debut and Annihilation of the Wicked are both quite cool. The rest of their stuff is pretty meh though, as far as I'm concerned. I much prefer Karl Sanders' solo work over his main band. Some of the only ambient stuff I actually like.

What's the point to further any 'discussion' there is nothing to be added at all. You are easily upset, that's clear. So why further press the issue? And I did get amused you took offense.

Am I the only person on this board who enjoyed the latest Nile album? Sure it wasn't their best, two or three songs were a bit 'meh', but genuinely good tracks like the Gods Who Light Up the Sky At the Gates of Sethu more than made up for it (to me, anyways).

Not sure what your problem with Mel Brooks' movies is. The ones I've seen have been pretty great. Well Spaceballs was, anyway. Young Frankenstein I didn't care for much.

U_S + SLK: I could be wrong, but you guys might be able to just block each other.

Emp: this kinda gets back to the the humor discussion from the movie thread. I just hate his humor. It rings so hollow as to sink my spirits. Just not my thing. I like Bill Hicks and hate Family Guy. Who knows where the formula of humor lies? (I did like Spaceballs, though.)

edit:

You know, the only time I've heard racoons howling it sounded like witches fighting in a tree, so I'd be right there by the speakers with him! :)

As the barbarians appeared on the horizons the United States marines and Seal Team 6 readied themselves! They were all sure that they were ultra tough guys because they once killed an old man who wasn't prepared for them, so surely they could turn back a horde of ultimate barbarians who break all the rules, but as they rushed up the hill without slowing down or looking exerted at all, and as the soldiers beheld the Herculean physiques of the barbarians in all their glistening nude glory, the Islamic banner being waved proudly by a tweelve foot tall giant, and the glint of supreme rage/confidence in their eyes, they realized that their entire belief structure based on the supremacy of the American way was a total lie! Their lives had no meaning whatsoever, and they were so shocked by this revelation that their hands started shaking and not a single barbarain was shot!
