It must have been harsh. But times does indeed heal. I have never been a depressive kind of man, so I will surely get over this.
It still sucks though.

I never move on from my past. My past is what drives me and I have been told that by numerous people etc. Seeing a psychiatrist soon.

Got more Chins than a Chinese phonebook.

I keep looking at the band pics of my favourite bands and it's made me realise that I don't own any super kvlt band shirts for my future band photo. Metalhead problems.

We'll just go in the woods with no shirts on and with axes. Oh wait, it's not black metal :(

We should choose a classy approach like Akerpinga. #swag. I'm gonna wear my amerindian mocassins, I'm so cool.

Man, those posts by poisonfume just left me :/ I know of the deepweb and all the activities but I've never let my eyes stray there to see actual posts and comments. Ah well, sigh.

Anyway, Necro you got a TBDM shirt, what more do you want? :)

I don't get all the hate for them. Of course they are pretentious as fuck. That's, like, their thing. I read it anyways because the music they blog about is pretty great.

The authorities definitely, without doubt know about those deep dark places... The average police officer or l.e.o. might not have the faintest idea about what lurks in the depths, but any department that has a computer forensics expert has at least one person familiar with the Deep.

ANUS was probably one of my first resources for metal on the interweb (circa 2002-03). They covered the basics at that time for me - you know, the best of bands, some concise reviews etc. So yeah, it was in a way, a primer metal-website at least. But as I started to pay more attention to Prozak's philosophical blog-posts and shit like that, I just didn't agree with many things. And with time and other resources popping up, it didn't become too relevant for me.

Are you talking about deathmetal.org? I visit it sometimes. Just too much information to grapple with at the moment. I'll check that website in-depth later.

Edit: The interview with Azmodes is quite a good read - Here. Great stuff man!

I bypassed the whole Anus thing. I started out with BNR as my first online metal resource before moving over to M-A.

I hung out in metal DC++ chatrooms, and even moderated some. I stopped using those after a hard-drive failure, and some time after that I found this place.

When it came to finding out about bands, it was mainly trial, error, and Youtube suggestions - I used Wikipedia to look at discographies and things. I've been using here for almost all of the time I've listened to sufficient metal to purport to be properly into it, though.

Before I found this place, my motto for gathering information on metal online was pretty much "either they have a Wikipedia article, or you're SOL". I think I found this place in early 2010 while Googling "Whourkr" out of a hunger for more information on them (I was crazy passionate about them for a good while).

The first band I tried to add were Christian deathcore who had already been blacklisted. Good times.

The domain/name change was a good thing for ANUS, all that political and "conservationist party - metal edition" blog posts were getting lame as hell, glad the main site dropped that shit and started focusing on metal instead.

My first online metal resource was a brazilian "news" site called Whiplash. Good thing I found m-a, that place sucked.

Yea, I agree. I found that aspect always pretty alienating, but it's not like they are outright bigots or anything. Just, you know, a bit stuck up. But yes, it improved a lot. Now it's much more band recommendations and interviews and general metal culture journalism and a lot less ranting.

Yep, not bigots, they just feel that race mixing is a scientifically proven really bad idea.

They haven't abandoned their politics, they've just reached an impasse where their philosophy, being idealistic in nature and based on a reactionary stance to the 90's culture wars, cannot be updated to jibe with current events, and thus have lost much of their resonance with disaffected youth. They've put out so much outright bullshit that those in the know simply can't take them seriously at all. And, of course, their metal analysis is and always has been extremely thin.

I've seen dumb reviews before, but I think this one takes the cake. The poo flavored cake.

http://www.metalsucks.net/2013/04/15/he ... ng-vetoed/

Seems the reviewer compares Hansi Kürsch to Phil Labonte, and fails to realize that "Valhalla" is a Blind Guardian cover. To be fair, I didn't realize that fact either at first until I looked into information about it, since it sounded a wee bit out of place on Veto (but they still fucking nailed it!).

There was some Metal Sucks review a few months ago reviewing Periphery's (shitty djent band) new album. The dude went on to say Periphery was awesome and original and this and that, and then said bands like Rush and Dream Theater are complete crap. Haven't read one of their shitty reviews since.

Also I don't really write reviews anymore.

I like the only track I've heard from Mournful Congregation, but "Tears from a Grieving Heart" has got to be the most sentimental album title ever. It makes me want to puke.

So I got the new Gargoyle album in the mail today. It's pretty fucking weird at times (there's a song thats got a total sleazy casino vibe going on towards the end, one song is bits of thrash, hardcore and rock with walls of sound interspersed), but its also surprisingly cool. There are songs that successfully nod to their past periods, including a song heavily reminiscent of "Execute", only more epic. They also, as is expected, merge their past sounds with their newer modern influences. It seemed jarring on the first listen, but it's actually quite well executed on subsequent ones. There are also a few moments of some seriously bleak and dreary atmosphere -- "Gudon" is crushing and mysterious, "Yume Kajitsu" is this weird stark contrast of dreary and incredibly bouncy, adventuring heavy metal licks and a galloping beat. This is a grower, but I definitely like what they're doing most of the time. Gargoyle <3

Run the marathon. Have your legs blown off.
It's a cruel fate and this shouldn't have happened. Of course the damage could have been graver, but a runner having to face that he'll never run again is harsh.
