Hi, there!

Spanish NORTH OF SOUTH (Prog Metal project) were initially rejected for being considered at the edge, but more rock than metal with their first album...

Last week it's been released a new EP, "The Dogma and The Outsider", via WormHoleDeath label.

Despite its eclectic approach, it sounds to me unequivocally Metal-based (Dream Theater, Opeth, In Flames, Evergrey can be pointed as some main influences).

The Ep also features some guest appearances by metal vocalists like KOBI FARHI (Orphaned Land) -including some nice growls-, ZUBEROA AZNÁREZ (Spanish Symphonic Metal band Diabulus in Musica) and ANNA MURPHY (ex Eluveitie, Cellar Darling).
Here there are some examples/tracks of the new EP:

So, based on this new release, i'm submitting this band for your reconsideration.
Thanks!

We didn't say they are on the edge, BUT.
We just said they are more rock than metal and the new EP sounds fairly rock-based aswell. In addition to that the soft interludes and songs make me even more convinced that the blacklist should stay for now.

With all due respect, dynamics, rhythm changes and alternation between soft and heavy passages are inherent characteristics of Progressive Metal.

Penalizing the presence of softer melodic parts means excluding of this website a relevant percentage of Prog Metal bands just because of the mere fact of being Prog, despite also being Metal.

Contrast is the pure essence of Progressive. And I guess that's the reason why bands like Ayreon, Opeth, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation (old), Queensrÿche or Haken have their own place in Metal Archives.

Can anyone indicate where's the "lack of Metalness" in, for example, this tracks? Any concrete passage?

And, finally, the guest appearances of Kobi Farhi (Orphaned Land), Anna Murphy (ex Eluveitie) and Zuberoa Aznárez (Diabulus in Musica) is not a reason for itself, but maybe an extra point for giving this stuff some Metal credit.

It's sure Metal Archives' moderators team has a few experts in-depth in Progressive Metal. Constructively speaking, it would be interesting to listen to their experienced global judge about this new EP.

Best wishes

Hi!
Where are the Prog experts moderators of Metal Archives? Any second opinion from them?
Cheers!

Spanish NORTH OF SOUTH are releasing their second album, "The tides in our veins" on June 25th.
This Prog/Fusion Metal music project was not accepted in the past in Metal Archives, but I guess there are no many doubts about the metal nature of the new stuff: two singles featuring Sakis Tolis (ROTTING CHRIST) and Tom S. Englund (EVERGREY).

The two singles sound fine. Bump this post when the albums released, though.
