Pretty old blacklisting and no reason given. Loads of new releases. Whitelisted for another look.

Just to throw in my two cents, I also think the EP ‘Eyes that see in the dark’ is pretty metal. It’s short, around 20 minutes, but does have a cassette release

https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/album ... n-the-dark

Pretty sludgey, but I’m not all too familiar with sludge, though I feel it’s worth mentioning.

Were these considered? If so, why aren't they valid?

Yes, we considered them. Another mod did a more thorough review, including several other albums as well, but I remember that only the second one of those two was noticeably metal and even then it's a very borderline affair. So considering that, we decided that a band with a huge non-metal body of work like that is not going to get accepted based on one maybe. For more details, see the rejection message.

Yeah, so we listened to both of these since you singled them out. The first one starts off as some sort of unstructured black metal, which had me hopeful for the prospects of adding the band, but the second half of it is ultra-downtuned Black Tongue beatdown hardcore. The second album is blackgaze, kind of inherently borderline, but then there's a fair helping of noise as with most of this band's output, which left me feeling that the overall album wasn't predominantly, convincingly metal. Frankly, I'd think that if Phyllomedusa were metal as this website defines it, then certainly, statistically, at least several of its hundreds of albums would qualify it for acceptance, rather than a bunch of borderline almost-albums. If those borderline albums are the closest the band can muster alongside a slew of goregrind/noise releases, then I don't think it's faithful to the database to accept them on that basis.

There's a fair bit of sludge in this, but also a lot of the riffless goregrind churning that you hear on the band's other releases. Speaking personally, I would like to see a few definitively acceptable shorter releases, or at least one absolutely unambiguous full-length, before we decide to accept this band with hundreds of releases. I don't think it's unfair to ask that our standards on borderline releases be a bit more stringent when we're talking about bands with 100 albums instead of just one.

Ok guys, I'm very glad that someone elese already opened an appeal for Phyllomedusa, because I was almost opnening one by myself. This because I'm now listening to At Karst (Live On Regland's Podcast) and is 28 minutes of 100% fuckin' Sludge Metal. I don't know if is it enough for a band that has tons of releases, but it undoubtley another piece for considering the metalness!!!

I have listened to the album Blommersia and I think, that it should also be mentioned here. The music here is imo sludge metal with goregrind vocals, but the vocals should not matter so much, since the riffs are important. It reminds me of band like Graveyard Rodeoonly, with several times rawer sound. The rawness of the sound could be a problem here, but iit is oobviously part of the band's underground style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yDpIkIrOjk,

I am bumping this thread , sso it can be of the first page again. I want also to remind the staff, that me and NorseDave have posted two albums, which may be potentially important ffor the evaluation.

Blommersia is sort of sludgy, but more in a superficial sense stemming from the super muddy groovy goregrind production and style. It's not sludge metal and I wouldn't call it acceptable.

That live album on the other hand is closer to the mark, but as a release, especially a redeeming one for a gargantuan non-metal discography like this, it's not sufficient.

Another batch of releases from this fairly non-metallic gorenoise band. Occasionally they try to step into sludge/drone and it just sounds like southern-twang gorenoise but some new material is a lot more convincing

This album has a lot of sludge metal riffs that cold get it accepted
https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/album ... tting-away

And this release also follows even if it's noisy.

I'll chuck this release forward too, It's from 2017 which I don't doubt may have already been looked at but there's no reference or mention of it here and does sound pretty cemented in the sludge metal style.

Actually, that's a remastered version of this: https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/album ... m-nest-iii. I looked into submission notes of a rejected submission and it seems like none of the albums you linked have been evaluated (at least they weren't mentioned in the notes). As they seem to have sludge riffs, I think it's fair to give them another go.
Whitelisted.

Sorry 2 more releases I've gone through (how anyone can release this many releases in one go is beyond me).

Very much black metal riffage but it's an EP which won't fly from a band/project with this many releases but could add on to the projects more metal releases.
https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/album ... f-a-neck-2

Goregrind release. Split between death metal heavy goregrind and groovy goregrind.
https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/album/fijian-holiday

I'll stop with this project now.

Could you please keep out things you're not sure about especially after the call has already been made? Fijian Holiday was already evaluated and for that EP you said everything yourself. So in the future, bring up ONLY substantial releases. Don't throw shit to see if it sticks.

Didn't see this one. Okay, feel free to fill out as much as you want to. But for the submission notes stick to the albums.

Gorenoise solo project from New York City.

For some reason, they're blacklisted from being submitted to the archives.

The reason it was blacklisted is that it doesn't have a predominantly metal album. I've checked three albums released after the last time it was assessed and none of them is metal.

I think he has finally released an acceptable full length album with Amphibious Jim Jones. Instrumentally, it's raw black metal with gorenoise vocals here and there.

Yes, this is most likely fine so it's been whitelisted. You may go ahead and submit, Bonziepsycho.

Cheers

I don't know if it can be done but is there a way for the all the info from my old submission for this band to be transfered over for Bonziepsycho to use?
