(Dolch) (not to be confused with the German dungeon synth band Dolch which used to be here) was recently assessed and found wanting. It's cool stuff, but there really isn't much going on riff-wise most of the time (with the exception of "Das Auge", apparently), some kind of doomy/martial-sounding shoegaze/post-insertnonmetalgenre.

Hello, so German band (Dolch) was rejected way back when due to not being metal enough. The style of their first few EPs is a mashup of various elements (drone metal, black metal, post-punk, shoegaze, ethereal wave, etc) but didn't quite make the cut because of it being so borderline. That being said, they just released a new album Feuer which I think has a heavier, more straightforward sound that leans a lot more towards metal. The basis of this album seems to consist of mid-tempo, slightly blackish doom riffs with some gothic and psychedelic touches. It actually reminds me a bit of what Tiamat was doing on their Wildhoney album, though with clean female vocals (I'd go as far as to describe the album as "psychedelic gothic/doom metal"). I certainly think it surpasses the heaviness of many of the psych doom bands currently listed on the archives.
