I was wondering if In Reference to a Sinking Ship (pre-Dark Sermon) could be looked at again for being acceptable metalcore/deathcore. It seems to be more metallically driven than hardcore, with the occasional breakdown. It's certainly not the black/death sound they became, but worth bringing up again.

It may also be worth mentioning that it was also released again under the name Dark Sermon when they changed their name:

Nah, more core than metal.

So I'm bringing this thread up again because I found that this band supposedly also released a demo in 2009. However, there is very little information on it besides a few pages. The only audio there is of the songs from the demo on Youtube is live, and it's kind of hard to tell if they're acceptable. I'll do some more research on this but could anyone help find the songs themselves/samples, as well as proof of a VR? I'll probably try contacting Dark Sermon members.

Links to where the demo is listed: (bad sources, yes, especially SoM, but it's still possible it existed)

Also, by the way, even if the demo doesn't exist, could the band be added based on these two singles from Bandcamp in accordance with the new singles policy? They sound very significantly metal, much more so than Aimless.

There's also a physical version of Aimless that includes these two singles: https://www.discogs.com/In-Reference-To ... e/11983692
Could they also outweigh the "more core" elements, provided that the singles by themselves might not be enough?

First off, this is not the research thread. If you need help finding that demo, you're better off there ;)

Secondly, two singles don't matter when there's a full album/lengthy EP that's not metal

Former moniker for the deathcore band Dark Sermon.
This band's only release is more metalcore centred but sounds borderline acceptable.

Topics merged. For me it worked perfectly. But if doesn't show up at first, try first with the quotation marks or if that doesn't work try omitting some articles like "to" and "a".

As for the EP, it was already evaluated so there's nothing much to do here.

All good, I'll keep that in mind for other bands with long names
